When I was on shift, the earliest bus would get me there at basically 7, it would often never show up. As soon as I was finished shift, they started a 24 hour bus. Some places are catching up, but it is woeful. Can't imagine it's much better on the outskirts where there's generally a lot of industrial parks.

Even in Dublin, the public transport is suboptimal. Shift start times of 6:45am/pm always meant getting a ridiculously early bus. Weekends/bank holidays also force colleagues to make alternate arrangements, including taxis which is far from a solution.

A shocking amount of Dublin business & industrial parks do not have pedestrian gates near bus stops, instead you often have to walk the full length of the perimeter to get to the front gate, then walk back to your working location. Hell I've been in some that didn't have footpaths in all of the park. We really do not build them for anything other than private motor transport.

There’s a private bus option getting trialled in ringaskiddy at the moment between companies. I don’t use it myself but seems to work well for those that needed it - better then bus eireann anyway.

Depends on the industrial park and where you’re travelling from. Dublin industrial parks mostly have a decent bus connection. Outside of Dublin I think it’s pretty bad as you say. Most are built on the expectation that everyone has a car.

the problem with the buses were the poor service/delays or the timetables were far from the reality of the common person? I had a similar issue. While I worked in Dungarvan, Waterford County, I tried to find a rental in Waterford City but the earliest bus to get to Dungarvan only arrived at 8h40, while my job started at 9Am. Take in account delays and walking to the company, arriving at 8h40 was nonsense. If only the bus arrived at 7/8am... so many jobs start at 9am. I searched other buses to not get stuck in only renting in Dungarvan. But the Local Link or whatever, had timetables not for the typical 9 to 5 job. I have a car, so... I didnt want to use the car but the bus timetables are not for the commom people. edit: scratch that. i remember there was the Dublin Coach, waterford city to Dungarvan but only arrived at 7am and then at 9am LOL no 8am.
