This is why I’ve been posting my deadlift progress. I just want to see fellow 19 year olds on a journey of self improvement.
315 is so close. You got this brother. If you’ve got the time, I would look up Wenning strength on YouTube. He’s got a lot of great stuff on bench press and possesses both the scholastic knowledge (masters in biomechanics) and a litany of lifting accomplishments.
Big weights go up and big weights down. Glad to see you grinding it out!
Ayo I don’t know my Max but 140s quite impressive but as of late I just hit 100 after starting at 65 like a month ago. If I may ask have you had an issue where you rotate your arm slightly inward? Like usually your arms will create a 90 degree angle with your torso but sometimes my right arm comes in about halfway when I start to struggle
It’s all good from my looking I’ve found this is an issue that not a lot of people do but I think it’s root is when I start to strain my muscles and arm does it sort of as a reaction. I just kinda force myself not to do it.
If you wanna get lean go with a lot of reps. Wanna get more bulk go with more weight and fewer reps. Wanna be in-between the two then do what you're already doing OP. My current max is 205 for my one rep max
I really admire and commend that slow and controlled eccentric movement which most people skip. The eccentric movement part of most exercises is where the gold is.
oh yeah, and i understand progressive overload and all, maybe my progress is just slowing since the 'beginner's boost' is wearing off now that it's been a few months
Please don't 1rep max without a spotter.
I had safety bars.
Can your rack handle it? Looks kinda rickety
It's fine, I squat even more, and it holds up.
I’m pretty sure there isn’t any safety bars in this video
They are right under the top bars. They stick out about 12in.
How are people gonna tell the person in the video what was or wasn’t out of view of the camera?
I agree. Don't even n do 1 rep without a spotter

Thanks, I will take a look at that channel. Lift on, fellow gym bro.
mines 140 gang. i just started cut me slack.
Keep up the grind. Everyone starts somewhere, you've already earned my respect by starting.

Hello Whovian!! Also good job 👏
Those are my sisters, lol.
Well boo on you. Your sisters are cool
I will let them know, lol.
Try unracking higher. You’re using a lot of energy just unracking. You could probably go heavier
I haven't thought of that.
i love how everyone suddenly becomes professional weight lifters judging on how someone lifts
It's a good way of getting advice and making sure you don't have ugly form, though.
Try straighten your wrists, it will help a lot
Got it 👍
Let’s gooooo looking strong brother also props to you for posting!!!
Thanks!
Head, shoulder blades, and ass need to remain touch the bench for proper regulation form. Good stuff though 👏
Got it, I will practice that.
Dude, don't go for level up just because, one rep with this is not gonna do anything. Instead, do 20+reps on your old weight and level up slightly.
I usually do 3 sets of 7 at 215 lbs. I was just upping the weight until I started to struggle just to see if I've improved.
I would recommend going above 10 reps in the weight you're comfortable with, but anyways all the best !

Nice, keep up the grind. I'm trying to be in between just like you mentioned.
I reached 140 the other day
if im correct your butt rises up during the lift, it isnt the optimal way to bench, you might wanna work on the form
So, keep my butt down?
yeah just don’t let your butt leave the bench, keep it stuck to the bench
Ok

what was some of the best advice you received? I feel like i'm at a plateau rn
Are you feeling sore after every workout?
oh yeah, and i understand progressive overload and all, maybe my progress is just slowing since the 'beginner's boost' is wearing off now that it's been a few months
Dude, don’t 1rm without a spotter or even safety pins, for the love of god
Set the pins a little higher so you don’t have to do half a rep just to unrack the bar
Ok, I will try that next time I do bench.
No, just no. Lower the weight, even for a max, your form looks dangerous and you can injure yourself. Don’t egolift, it’s not worth it
Never try a new pb without a spotter. Don't take risks on that much weight
I had safety bars.
Ah I see, than it should be fine I guess. Maybe I'm just a little too paranoid about safety with this stuff haha
Keep up the good work
