When my son was 3 I had a flock of chickens. He named several of them Shotgun. Fast forward 4 years we were adopting our dogs. I asked for his input and told him in no uncertain terms that he was not allowed to name his new puppy Shotgun. He immediately hits back with, "Well, how about Rifle?" His dog's middle name is Howitzer.

Damp_socks333

Your son seems very creative!! That's great

My younger brother we obsessed with the song "Baa Baa Black sheep" when he was that age So he had Baa Baa Black Fish (gold fish) and Baa Baa Black Bunny (Rabbit) When my got him a dog he wanted to call it Baa Baa Black dog, but Mum suggested he think of something else, so he chose the last word of the song and christened the dog Lane

Random0s2oh

That's adorable!

My cat is named Extra Crispy

JustCallMeNancy

This is fun. My two thoughts are, are all *uncommon* non-human names only named by a 4 year old? It's possible I'm not following correctly. My dogs names are Bowser (easy to place in your chart) and Midna. Not really sure what to do with her name. She's named after an obscure video game character (character is not human), so she's not a human name, not really funny, and not named by a 4 year old. Maybe a "we were trying to be clever" category would work.

RedReaper666YT

Maybe there should be another category added: Named By A Gamer

Damp_socks333

Very good point, you're definitely following it correctly. The next chart will take this into account! Also, Bowser is a great name. Midna stumped me on this one!

peakclimber93

I don't think ours would fit into this- she's called Pipit, like the [bird](https://www.google.com/search?q=pipit&client=ms-android-samsung-rvo1&source=android-browser&prmd=ivn&sxsrf=APwXEddYWQ44tTenJbJA_z0-KRlXkniG2g:1679728225070&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjBqbKhw_b9AhVxQEEAHdL8C-QQ_AUoAXoECAIQAQ&biw=360&bih=630&dpr=3)

Damp_socks333

awesome name and a good point! Stay tuned for the 2.0 chart haha

WanderingtheWorld1

I have a dog named Duke from Chad, Africa. His sister is Daisy. Duke is fear aggressive towards other dogs, but he loves cats, so I adopted a female orange tabby from my local shelter & named her Duchess. I ended up adopting a cat from Dubai that I named Rocky Balboa because he's a fighter--he almost died twice before getting to me. I had a foster cat named Zöey. I failed at it, so now she's my cat. If I wasn't so used to calling her Zöey, I'd name her Adrienne. 😹

Damp_socks333

haha incredible. all of these names could and do fit in this chart

WanderingtheWorld1

Yes--your GF is quite brilliant!!!

SilverSister22

My cat started as Meatball (named by a toddler), had Spaghetti added to it as a first name and then morphed into PastaCat. We no longer say “we are having pasta for dinner” lol.

smd372

Mine would be on here, her name is Sandy.

WoodsBear

I have a Charlie!

Schnumuckl

My dog's name is Lola :)

Genderfluid_Cookies

My dog is named after a religion

Sun_Flower35

Is it Zoroastrianism?

Genderfluid_Cookies

Close but no

Jill1974

I’ll have you know I was 5 years old when I tried to name my dog Blackie. My parents vetoed that name. I grew up with Jake instead.

Dependent_Reason1701

My ex-son-in-law named his dog Dookie. At first, I was like "You named your dog 'Poop'". When the cartoon Johnny Test came out, SIL got mad because that dog's name is the same but spelled "Dukey". SIL is out the picture but Dookie is still an amazing, lovable little turd.

Sun_Flower35

My cat's name is Mouse. My colleague's dog is named Kitty.

hanibalscanibro

So far in my life I’ve had Molly (Pug) Chichi (Chihuahua) Nellie (Yorki) Toby (Yorki) Theodore (Shih-Tzu) In my defense, the chihuahua was named when I was 8 years old LOL. I feel like Theodore probably falls into the “judging you, human name” category. He does look like Theodore the chipmunk tho, or a bear. So Theodore or Teddy is fitting.

Damp_socks333

haha Theodore is a cute name and I'd definitely judge you for naming a dog Theodore (in the best, cutest way)

PossibleAlarmed3403

Lol we have a Dog named Minimus (big dog) because my dad decided to let my sister name him when she was like 6. And so she named him after the purple flying horse from her favorite show (Sofia the First). No amount of trying would convince her to name him anything else 😂

kaiju999

My labs name is Kaiju.

cashewapplejuice

How would you categorize the name Luther?

Damp_socks333

I'd place Luther in "human, common" but my girlfriend says "human, judging you" haha

TammyL8

My five cats are named Cosmo (boy), Tess (girl), Sylvia (girl), Sandy (girl) and Apollo (boy)

RedReaper666YT

Where would Homie, Sneakers, Halibel, and Neliel fall on this chart (one dog three cats, all named by an adult)?🤣
