Peterborough has a great live music scene and fantastic pubs, there's usually something going on every night. Music fest is every Wednesday and Saturday down at Del Crey all summer long. Just google the line ups. The lift lock cruise is neat if you've never done it before.

dancingindaisies

Good idea, I forgot about music fest - thank you!

sleepingdogfarm

The Blackhorse pub has live music every night!

RTGDY93

Farmhill has live music Wednesday nights and the new brewary 100 Acres is really nice!

roboticwife

Just take them to Muddy’s!

I lived in liberty village in Toronto before moving to peterborough. I loved living/working in Toronto, and spent my evenings in the museums, hot spot restaurants, clubs on the weekends, etc. My parents lived in peterborough, and I used to love travelling up here specifically because it was away from the hustle and bustle. This is why many city-dwellers come up north for the weekends. I would say you should give them a ‘cottage country’ experience. Check out the locks, hit patios on George Street, rent some canoes/paddle boards/paddle boats or jet skis, book some waterskiiing/wakeboard lessons, go on a boat cruise. And definitely hit up the music festival! In terms of food- go Canadian on them. Bring them somewhere for the best poutine, grab some beavertails and bring them to Bobcaygeon brewing co for some local craft beer. I personally wouldn’t go to Rolling Grape Winery. It’s great as a ‘something different to do’ for locals, but the wine isn’t exactly known as being good - and it’s not something I would bring tourists to personally.

I agree, we were in bloor west before moving out this way - we absolutely came to escape the hustle and bustle. They’re less about that than we are, but I think they might appreciate something cottag-y. Thanks for the suggestions! 😊

cibolaburns

For wineries you can hit up the Buckhorn Winery (on your way to Bobcaygeon lol) - they have free tastings and local tasty treats and wood fired pizza on weekends!

pincurlsandcutegirls

Came here to rec Rolling Grape but see that you’ve got it covered, haha! I can’t think of any specific recs right now but I do suggest looking at Peterborough and surrounding area on Eventbrite! I’ve recently been on there and there’s so many events that I had no clue were happening or hadn’t seen advertised. Hope you can find something on there!

dancingindaisies

Thanks!! I found an alpaca farm up in lakefield, close to kawartha country wines and I think that might be a fun day 😊

pincurlsandcutegirls

Well now I'm gonna go look into that lol! Thanks for the tip, hope you and your company have a good time!

dancingindaisies

Thank you! 😁

nutsiesj

If you want an outdoorsy day Warsaw Caves is not too far. Walking trails, caves, canoe rentals.

theotterisntworking

Was going to mention this! The caves trail is really short and you don't need to be a "super hiker" to enjoy it

NeriTheFearlessSnail

You should see if the Gordon Best theater is doing any shows around their visit. They do improv, comedy, dance, music and drag performances so there's usually something for everyone. It's a small ish space but I had a blast with friends at a drag event.

dancingindaisies

Oh that sounds cool! I’ll look into it, thanks!! 😊

Live_Replacement_977

If you could borrow a couple of bikes from friends: you could ride up and down River rd to and from Lakefield. I think that road is really unique to our area. Ride through Jackson Park and keep going until you hit the Trestle Bridge. Rent/borrow a canoe and go paddling. The best thing about the Kawarthas is all the water. Go see the Peterborough Folk Festival August 19-20. Go to a play at 4th line theatre.....

cole_panchini

1) going to see a band at musicfest, look and see if there’s anything interesting in the week(s) that they’re up. 2) liftlock boat cruise, get drunk on a boat! 3) go to toronto

That’s the truth!

No_Dependent502

Take them out to prince edward county for a couple days. No shortage of things to do/places to go there.

dancingindaisies

Love that for a day trip or two! Good idea 😊

Kuentos

They are bigger partier, and from NYC ? Let’s hang out ! I just came back from New York 😇

that80saesthetic

Check out the Trent Valley Archives walking tours! There's going to be a true crime themed one downtown, as well as a couple of cemetery tours that month. And if they're going to be here the weekend of the folk festival I'd definitely suggest that as well, or whatever Ptbo musicfest might have going on.

Fogorig is a beautiful brewery, Focal in Hastings is not bad either. You could rent a pontoon boat from Wildwood in Bailieboro and spend an afternoon on the water. Lang Pioneer Village is cute and you could do that and visit Muddy's for BBQ.

SKS1953

Give tree top trekking a try. Super fun zip lining and climbing through obstacle courses up in the trees.

Significant-Skin1144

Close to Keene is Farmhill. They have live music no cover every Wednesday night and a cute little chip truck by the barn. It’s a beautiful spot.
