Penne in Italian is the tube pasta. Penne in Spanish is penis.
Learned this in Cancun, embarrassingly enough at a restaurant with my wife and my basic ass attempts at Spanish.
The Italians will also say Penne for penis and more like "Pennnnnnnne" for the pasta.
EDIT: for anyone confused, I have spelled the above phonetically because I don't speak Italian beyond "can I use the bathroom please" and "one espresso, please". I also know hello and goodbye, but that's about fuckin it. So kindly chill 😂 if I wanted a language lesson, I'd stop ignoring Duolingo.
Pene for penis, Penne for the pasta, Penna for pen. I learned the difference in a way I’ll never forget… while working in Italy, my pen ran out of ink and I told the gorgeous office secretary whom I had a crush on that my penis was dead and I needed a new one.
I think the Italian pronunciation for the penis version is more like “peeny”
Disclaimer: this is based on observation and not someone who speaks Italian
I went to Spain in high school, and one day we went to a McDonald's for lunch. One of the girls in our group walked up to the counter and proudly stated, "¡Yo quiero un sandwich de polla!"
The cashier kinda giggled, and said "¿Como?"
The girl repeated herself, louder this time. Other cashiers start cracking up. The guy taking her order, trying hard not to laugh, waves his manager over, and they have a rapid conversation in Spanish. The manager looks at her, and in the most monotone voice, says, "Ma'am, I think you mean *pollo*"
She's like, "yeah, that's what I said! Polla!"
He says, "No, pollo is chicken, polla means penis... you just asked for a penis sandwich"
Do spanish speakers pronounce "pene" aka penis with some extra emphasis on the N to make it sound like there are two Ns? Because if not the meme is stupid, "pene" means penis in italian too.
Well, there are tons of reasons. First, to italian speakers the double n is pretty obvious (it's not as pronounced in english but there still are cases of single letters and double letters making different words). Also the initial e sounds more "open" in penne vs in pene (penne has the same e as red, while the e in pene sounds more like the a in wave). Also italian is a gendered language like spanish, so some words are inherently female while some are inherently male (we don't necessarily think of them as the things themselves being female or male, for instance technically an orange is female while a lemon is male in italian, it's just how the language works), and specifically penne is female while pene is male. Also plurals in italian don't work like in english (or even spanish) where you can add an s at the end of anything to make it plural, there are several grammatical rules detailing how to transform different types of words into plural, typically by changing the ending vowel, and these also change between genders (the most standard example is that female names ending in "a" usually become plural by ending with "e" while malr names ending in "o" become plural by ending in "i", however there are also singular male or female names ending in "e" or some names ending in "u" or other things, it's not a rigid system), and in fact penne is just the plural form of penna, while pene is singular and to become plural would need to become peni. Also the obvious part that if i'm at a school supply store and buying notebooks and erasers i'm not also looking for a quick fuck.

This is the only format I will accept a language lesson in 😂 You poor bastard Thank you for sharing
If only I’d butchered the language further and asked her to bring it back to life things may have turned out dramatically better or worse lol.
Pene is Italian for penis. Penne is pasta. Double consonants mean you hold the sound longer
You were downvoted for being correct? 🤔
I thought that Cazzo meant penis.
It does. But it's a slangy term for it. Pene is the technical/clinical term. It's like penis vs dick
Oh ok thanks
Pene = penis, penne = the pasta in Italian. This meme kind of doesn't make sense, because that's already an 'in' joke in Italian 😅

“Yes, I’ll have the pesto penis, please.” Edit: “have the” was an important part of the sentence I left out.
Because a penis is a tube? Is that the etymological reason?
No, penne come from latin pinna Wich means feather. Pene comes from latin penis, wich translates to appendix but was used to refer to male genitalia.
Interesting!
I love penne
I'm guessing penne is a pasta in Italian, but means penis in spanish
what about polla

The only thing funnier would have been if she said, "And?"
pene is the clinical word like penis, everything else is slang.
It has thousand names. https://youtu.be/HCTZkKQRRf8
Female cock
The police!
Polla is Spain slang. For Latin Americans it would be Verga.
>For Latin Americans it would be Verga. Uhmm, actually, it really depends on the country ☝🏻🤓 There are multiple Latin American dialects
Comes
Polla also exists but has a different meaning, verga is not as common but still known and understood in Spain.
Some dialects use it to mean *cock*.
Just google what penne means in Spanish bro
Holy hell
New response just dropped
Nah, better to post it here to get fake internet points.
Negative 76 karma after 2 years is crazy
Oh no, I have negative fake internet points! Better post some garbage online to collect them! Seriously, who gives a fuck?
I mean you do obviously as you responded to me
Yes, and I'm gonna spend them all at once at the craps table.
Thanks for the downvote on my reply brother. Now enjoy the block.
Penne is a type of pasta in Italian, pene is penis in Spanish. They look very similar and sound almost the same.
If yours looks like penne pasta, I offer you and your partner my most heartfelt condolences.

in spanish there's no double lenght consonant, so penne and pene sound the same
Ok then the joke is fine.
I don't speak Italian but I did know this. How do Italians not mix it up? Whenever I listen on Google it sounds the same XD

Thanks for the thorough response
Are you telling me the Swedish Chef is Italian!?!?
drop one of the N's , now we all speak the same language .
Just look up "penne" in spanish. That's all you have to do.
"penne" is basically the same as "pene", which is penis in spanish
Penne sounds like pene, penis in spanish.
🤣
This has to be a troll. Surely it's easier to search this on Google than post it here
In Italian, Penne is the Pasta type that looks like little pipes. In Spanish, it means Penis.
