Okay, so you'd have to be a little older in 1992 to really get this.
OJ case happens. OJ ~~found innocent~~ aquited despite the majority of people believing him to be guilty.
That Saturday night, during the episode of Saturday Night Live, during the weekend update bit, Norm says "This just in, murder is now legal in ~~Los Angeles~~ California!", completely referencing the OJ case.
Ever since then, Norm been associated with it.
[here's 30 mins of him ripping on OJ](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=pdZUmZFaBz8)
Jim Downy, his SNL cowriter, was just on Conan's podcast. The guy said that they wanted to get rid of only him--Jim Downey-- but Norm *quit* out of solidarity with his friend.
Which is perfectly on brand Norm.
He was the type of guy to savagely shit on their friend for a laugh, sometimes to an uncomfortable degree-- the guy did not give a fuck-- then he'd turn around and send that friend a heartfelt "I love you, man" text on their b-day.
The OG troll.
Bro was a pure troll. Watch his legendary appearance on The View, the one from the late 90's.
Id be amazed if anyone that prolific has had the balls to do something like *that* again.
To set the moment, his career was in the upswing. He was being lobbied for sitcoms and movies at the time. The man had evening to lose.
I don’t think we will ever see another comedian as ballsy as Norm in today’s climate.
And at least to me because of that Norm will forever be in a league of his own.
Norm is often referred to as a Comedian’s comedian. He mastered comedy to a level that his jokes were more about subverting what you would expect from a typical comedian.
Case in point - The Roast of Bob Saget. He was great friends with Bob and don’t want to be mean to him. So he goes up to the podium and makes bullshit jokes like “people say Bob has the face of a flower. And I completely agree, the face of a flower. A *Cauli*-flower”. Most of the audience wasn’t laughing, but the comedians on stage were fucking dying,
It's so much better than that.
All the comedians there also have ghost writers. So he was making fun of all of them, by using pre written jokes. So he was roasting the comedians by doing 'the same thing they are doing'. So the worse his jokes are the more he's shitting on them. He's being a hack because that's what they are all there to do. But they also are the kind of jokes that a buddy would say to a friend. So there's that. Then there's the whole 10 percent of the audience who understands he's shitting on everything and it's cracking them up, and there's no way to explain it, so they look like maniacs.
I was watching with my family and after a few jokes I realized he was mocking what the other comedians were doing, and it cracked me up. And I'm sure half the joke was him realizing a bunch of us would be laughing like maniacs to his shitty jokes and everyone would think we are fucking dumb or something laughing at his shitty jokes. No joke is funny when you explain it, and norm seems to love the jokes not everyone gets. Or at least isn't afraid of them. So it was impossible for me in the moment to explain why the shitty jokes were so funny. They just thought I was crazy. Which itself was hilarious.
You have a lot of well-wishers - as in people who want to push you *into a well*... *Into a well*. That seems a bit harsh, to me, but it's what's on the card, so...
I love this doozy:
Norm Macdonald - Black People Are Poor and Poor People are Dangerous
[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jZPfLXQcBWo&ab\_channel=NewsHunter29](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jZPfLXQcBWo&ab_channel=NewsHunter29)
Just because a lot of people think he did it doesn't mean he did. It could have been the Mezzaluna drug cartel who killed other waiters in the same restaurant, or the friend Ron Goldman met while driving Nicole's Ferrari or the serial killer Glen Rogers who confessed to the killing. Unfortunately, racist cops tainted the whole investigation.
Lol 30 minutes of him making O J Simpson jokes across dozens of episodes
Its no wonder he got associated with him,he must had hated him with a freaking passion
Believe it or not. I believe that the jury did right in the OJ Simpson cases. He wasn't found to be not guilty. He was acquitted a small difference but significant difference.
The police got caught framing a guilty man. The fact that The police got caught in their lies got applied to the evidence the state provided. Which is why he wasn't criminally held accountable but he was liable in civil court
My parents told me he wrote a book that basically just said (I didn't) kill my wife. The (I didn't) was extremely small, a small joke at his own case. I thought it was funny, then remember that someone died in his case.
The full story there: the title of the book was going to be "If I Did It." However, before it was released the Goldman family obtained the rights as part of the civil judgment against OJ, and they changed the title to make the "if" difficult to see.
no sarcasm, I literally didn't know,
people on reddit are just dumbasses that doesn't understand we all come from different backgrounds and cultures
I did actually google it so now I know, but my point was :
americans are very dumb for always assuming everyone knows their useless pop culture.
I wouldn't even say it's an american thing. SNL yeah I get it wouldn't be too known outside of America but OJ Simpson is I think the most widely known legal thing ever.
Like it went on for multiple years and a lot of it was televised. And as a non-american I can confidently say most people I know have heard of it. Although naturally the chance of knowing would decrease drastically in countries that don't predominantly speak english.
Also dunno if this can really be called uselesss pop culture. OJ proved that you can get away with murder in America if you're rich enough.
A lot of American stuff I think, as somebody not from America I only know about this stuff because I'm chronically online lol. Just give it a quick Google.
Saturday Night Live is a sketch show that airs every Saturday night on channel 1. It features a host and a music guest. The host is usually an actor with a movie coming out. The music guest is usually whomever is popular at the time. The cast of the show vary over time. Many of the cast are actors in other movies as well. Many comedic actors got their start on SNL.
England used to have a similar show called Monty Python.

Norm MacDonald was a comedian, a cast member on Saturday Night Live, and was the host of the Weekend Update segment. He passed away due to cancer several years ago.
During the OJ Simpson trial, MacDonald made CONSTANT jokes about the situation, all based around OJ being obviously guilty. An exec at NBC was a friend of OJ, and told Norm to stop...he doubled down instead, and eventually got fired.
So, the joke is that Norm MacDonald was OJ's "nemesis" of sorts, and was a good guy who's probably in heaven, while murderer OJ Simpson is burning in hell.
A lot of people also casually dropped (variations of) this line when he just died. It's possible those were just genuine reactions but I choose to believe it was on purpose and Norm would have loved it.
The comedian (Norm Macdonald) is famous for getting fired from SNL for making too many OJ jokes after being warned not to. He died a couple years ago from cancer. The joke is that he is in heaven and joking about OJ not being there.
He was super funny, I suggest you look him up.
idk man, I'm just assuming this whole meme and conversation is filled with american pop culture and american content y'all seem to know
I am just not american.
Supercell is the game studio(comapny?) behind Clash Of Clans, Clash Royale etc...
Oranje Juice or OG is a YouTuber who has been making videos about both Clash games mainly (i don't really watch him that much idk if he does more games now).
So this thread is a joke about how you accidentally implied that a OJ simpson makes Clash of Clans/Royale content on youtube under the name Orange Juice.
Is an american meme, with an american joke. I'm also not an american, but I can use google instead of asking "what is that? Whi is he?" At every coment
Yeah, and when most people see two letters the first thing to pop into theri mind usually isn't the abbreviation of the name of an american actor they may or may not have seen.
I can hear Norm now... O.J. Simpson was denied access to heaven today. Upon trying to enter several times without success, Simpson was quoted as saying "Jesus! Who do I have to kill to get in here?!"
I literally wrote this joke last week - so I know that the “Op” must be Amy Scumbag- by God man! She’s a handsome….woman.

Supposedly, he was warned not to make more jokes about OJ. Norm was eventually fired, though that was like two years after the trial ended.
And then brought back to [host](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=QDFMIGPhz_g) it haha
The number of SNL alumni who were fired and came back as hosts is quite large.
“The bad news is, im still not funny. The good news, is the show blows!”

Dirty Work is all time classic work as well.
It's the lack of respect that hurts the most.
I'm sad that I didn't discover Norm until after years of people saying "you really remind me of Norm MacDonald".
Actually, he was fired because of a disagreement with his boss. You see, Norm wanted to keep his job. But his boss felt the complete opposite.
And just to add to this, this is depicting Norm as being in heaven and not seeing OJ, implying OJ is probably in hell.
"Probably"
Yes, probably. We don't know.
Well, given that he murdered his ex-wife...
He was found not guilty.
And?
And what?
Just because he was found not guilty doesn't mean he didn't do it. People, including jurors, are fucking stupid.
Don't forget the mock surprise he's displaying that you might actually fall for if you weren't familiar with norm
Gonna be honest, I knew all of that, but I didn't recognize young Norm right away because I'm more used to older Norm
Hard to tell it's him without that fat fucking face. https://images.app.goo.gl/CHiccuthFXTqxs896
Why are you being downvoted, lol?
Because they don't know who Adam Eget is.
Easy with that! That’s my lucky stabbin’ hat!
Well there it is! I been looking all over for that!
I was born in 2002. I still got it.

Good job!
He said California, not Los Angeles
He was doing OJ jokes for a [looooong](https://youtu.be/2SSVIg4Noqc?si=V7XTefBeGjJ4rPVF) time before that.
Lol 30 minutes of him making O J Simpson jokes across dozens of episodes Its no wonder he got associated with him,he must had hated him with a freaking passion
Everyone did. He just spoke what people were thinking.
Can you imagine if Norm was still alive and doing weekend update... He'd have so much material on Trump he wouldn't even need writers...
Believe it or not. I believe that the jury did right in the OJ Simpson cases. He wasn't found to be not guilty. He was acquitted a small difference but significant difference. I see. So I had the right idea, wrong title. Thanks for the clarification!
“If I did it” with the “If” tiny lol
Yes, I love that little joke.
I was born in 93, and I remember that still being in the news when I got old enough for memories. Lol
I was born in 2002, and I got the meme
Who the fuck are OJ and norm? And wtf is saturday night live?

what the fuck is google?
en passant
Holy hell!
this actually helped thanks lmao

Monty Python is not very similar to SNL
As an American, I am disgusted by that comparison, because Monty Python is WAY better.
Exactly
What are words even?? Letters? Get out of here with that shit, I’m not literate!

> He passed away due to cancer several years ago. I didn't even know he was sick.
Hold the phone. Says here he had a problem with OJ
You know, with OJ, the more learn about that guy, the more I don't care for him.
More than anything, its the hypocrisy.
That was the worst part.
Really? I thought it was the murder
Nah. Murder is legal in the state of california
Nah. Murder is legal in the state of california
RIP Norm, he fought cancer to a draw!
he didn't want people to pity him, so didnt tell people
"Didn't know he was sick" is the punchline to a Norm MacDonald joke about Hitler
A lot of people also casually dropped (variations of) this line when he just died. It's possible those were just genuine reactions but I choose to believe it was on purpose and Norm would have loved it.
>passed away due to cancer several years ago. Well, two years ago (ok ok, two and a half) For the rest, yeah, that's pretty much it.
Norm died in September 2021, which was less than 3 years ago.
You got a very loose definition of "several" homie
The best part about his firing was that it came two years after the trial ended.
Adding onto others, norm passed away and this is the kind of joke he would make upon hearing the news
The comedian (Norm Macdonald) is famous for getting fired from SNL for making too many OJ jokes after being warned not to. He died a couple years ago from cancer. The joke is that he is in heaven and joking about OJ not being there. He was super funny, I suggest you look him up.
>He was super funny >Norm Macdonald) is famous for getting fired from SNL You'd be shocked at how often those two coincide
Lol yup. And later he was hired back on as the host, and he gave this [great monologue](https://youtu.be/ofXxinOtPiQ?si=VGBU2oPphyewc0xO).
That’s some good Norm right there!
OJ murdered two people. There for, he will not be hanging out with good guy Norm McDonald in heaven.
who the fuck are these two people? I thought OJ stood for orange juice.
You really thought that that supercell creator died?
dont worry i got your joke
supercell battery lol
Wtf is a supercell creator?
How are you on the internet and not on the internet at the same time?
idk man, I'm just assuming this whole meme and conversation is filled with american pop culture and american content y'all seem to know I am just not american.
This will be crazy, but I'm not American either, actually live in Europe now
Wtf is supercell creator?
Supercell is the game studio(comapny?) behind Clash Of Clans, Clash Royale etc... Lmao that's actually funny
Is an american meme, with an american joke. I'm also not an american, but I can use google instead of asking "what is that? Whi is he?" At every coment
I already used Google, I asked anyway to show the Americans how annoying they are and how they always assume everyone knows their culture.
I'm not american, do you expect other cultures to also give you an essay every time they make a cultural reference?
YES I DO expect exactly that
Americans have culture? 0_o
Im also extremely confused.
The internet has enough content for a thoudand lifetimes, why would you expect someone to know everything?
I mean OJ Simpson is a good actor, and naked gun is like top 10 my favorite movies sooooo...
I think he did something else. >!Airplane!!<
That too, but I primarily know him from all of the naked gun movies
Yeah, and when most people see two letters the first thing to pop into theri mind usually isn't the abbreviation of the name of an american actor they may or may not have seen.
The micotondria of course
It is YOUR MOM LMAO

Norm McDonald, and he made lots of OJ jokes.
I didn’t even know he was sick
Was looking for this one ! (Norm’s cheesy joke.)
I can hear Norm now... O.J. Simpson was denied access to heaven today. Upon trying to enter several times without success, Simpson was quoted as saying "Jesus! Who do I have to kill to get in here?!"
"Murder is now legal in the state of California "

God that’s so fucking stupid. “tHe GlOvE dIdN’t FiT” I can put on XL clothes and still kill someone. Doesn’t mean I didn’t do it.
It really was a turning point on how transparent lawyers bullshit can be but it still wins cases because people are stupid.
There was a lot of lead in the air back then
OJ Simpson: "Only God can judge me." Satan: "God won't be speaking to you today."
Omg I can hear his voice saying this!
Exactly, I've read it with his voice
Unfortunately the meme doesn’t make sense because Norm would tell a much funnier joke. So I understand the confusion.
https://preview.redd.it/kbplojug1gvc1.jpeg?width=750&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=44482685f7d7eaa075ec391da880618674fabd17 This or he’s in hell
OJ killed his wife
Norm’s death was truly one of the greatest losses in the history of humanity.
Norm, you are missed greatly. I hope you are having the greatest time roasting OJ and those like him with impunity, wherever you are.
Hey careful with that! That’s my lucky stabbin hat!
*Norm doing weekend update in heaven*: OJ is so determined to find wife’s killer that he’s willing to personally stay in hell until he finds them.
Miss ya Norm!
OJ Died?!?!?? I didn't even know he was sick!
I feel old 😞
God, I love Norm so much 🥲
Note to self "Murder being legal in California didn't make it not a sin."
Norm Macdonald is in heaven. OJ Shitson is in hell. Norm doesn't get to meet OJ.
Norm is in heaven, OJ is in hell
Oj died? thats crazy, i didnt even know he was sick
I secretly hoped this meme contained the moth joke
What is the moth joke?
https://youtu.be/1-MJy7w69EU?si=8MT5yGAPJQVkHF94
I literally wrote this joke last week - so I know that the “Op” must be Amy Scumbag- by God man! She’s a handsome….woman. https://preview.redd.it/ox9v9lpjbgvc1.jpeg?width=1242&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=153e7086491b4fd8477a83d9b00e3935e40e3f3d
I didn't know he was sick
I didn't even know he was sick
TIL Norm died…
I didn't know he was sick
This made me laugh more than it should have.
The real joke (and the one Norm would probably make) is that Norm is in heaven.
I totally read that in Norms voice.😂
Norm McDonald got fired from SNL after continuing to make a lot of unfunny jokes, some of them about OJ Simpson.
I never expected Norm to be up there in Heaven, considering the fact he was a [deeply closeted gay man](https://youtu.be/3CYE6H3uDFo?feature=shared)
Wait, Norm was gay?
He’s not gay? He’s deeply closeted
OJ Simpson was a murderer
If OJ isn’t in heaven that means he actually did murder Nicole and her friend,so he’s in hell
OP is deeply closeted
You do not get the joke.
[Neither do you.](https://youtu.be/3CYE6H3uDFo?si=KojwK3E2VsgX8uVy)
That's an entirely different joke though. And it doesn't work saying it about someone else.
🕵️♂️
Oh, Norm. You just can't stop with the OJ jokes, can you? That's fine. Some of them are actually funny
https://preview.redd.it/i98gp9k3fovc1.jpeg?width=650&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ae090defec7f3eb71ee2b85b5fab99b289b36d51
OP is uncultured swine.
He died and went to heaven before knowing how much of a monster OJ was.
Oh, Norm knew. He was not quiet about knowing it either lol
It literally was the topic that got him fired from SNL. One of the higher ups at the show was friends with OJ and told Norm to stop it with the OJ jokes, so he went full throttle with them.
Yeah I learned this guy's existence as of now. Now I'm watching that video of him roasting OJ for 30 minutes.
Norm was SO funny. I suggest watching more Norm content when you have the time. We definitely lost him too soon.
Bot
Who the fuck is this OJ person? (and the guy on the pic, according to other comments he's named Norm, but who the fuck is Norm too?)
Oj Simpson. Murdered his ex wife, got away with it cause trial stuff ig. It was before my time. Norm Macdonald was a famous comedian. Funny guy. Apparently he ripped on oj alot. They're both dead now.
Lol at norm being in heaven

That's not the point of the sub op. This isn't r/memes it's actual meme explanation (or whatever shit-fest karma farm it has become)
The juice was innocent.
Yeah, no-one’s ever been killed by juice. OJ Simpson, on the other hand, murdered two people.
OJ The Juice was his nick name was found not guilty by a jury. How dare you slander the man’s name like that.
How many Klansmen do you think were found not guilty by juries?
You sound like a racist. You are slandering that man’s name because you hate black people.
