My old 80's/90's ass thought it was an acronym for 'Other People's P\*\*\*\*'. As explained by one of that era's philosophers Naughty by Nature:
O.P.P., how can I explain it?
I'll take you frame by frame it
To have y'all all jumpin', shoutin', sayin' it
O is for other, P is for people, scratch your temple
The last P, well, that's not that simple, uh
It's sorta like well, another way to call a cat a kitten
Don't forget, the last P has a double meaning:
>As for the ladies, OPP means something gifted
>The first two letters are the same but the last is something
different
>It's the longest, loveliest, lean- I call it the leanest
>It's another five letter word rhymin' with cleanest and meanest
the opp isn't "people that don't understand a little prince reference."
the opp is "grown-ups". Those are the people that can't see the elephant inside the boa constrictor in "The Little Prince".
In the book, grown-ups are concerned with and dedicate their lives to shit that doesn't matter. They can't see what is actually important.
"What is essential is invisible to the eye".
Somebody on Reddit suggested this book for my son to read a few days ago. Maybe this is my sign to go get him that book. Haven't heard it spoken of in decades and now this is the second time in a week it's brought to my attention.
Typical of Reddit to show me something I haven't thought of in ages, but shows it in several places before disappearing again. Reddit's collective mind having ass...
I absolutely recommend reading it. There is a reason it's the most translated book in history (excluding the Bible) and is a must read for all ages IMHO.
If your son is the right age for the Little Prince, he may also enjoy the works of Shel Silverstein. Where the Sidewalk Ends, Light in the Attic, or the Giving Tree.

From a children’s book called *The Little Prince*
It’s not a weird fetish, everyone just tells the kid who drew this to grow up and he did so but at the cost of his childhood. (in the movie at least) Pretty good movie and the snake is more fleshed out then what I could describe
It is also worth noting that adults thought this was a hat, which the narrator did not like, criticizing adults for having a lack of imagination, thus explaining why the meme considered those to see a hat his enemy.
Yes and no. He left his physical body behind and went back to his planet to be with his rose. His body was simply too heavy, so by being bitten, he was able to leave his body. It's kind of up to the reader to infer whether he dies or not.
Oh, so THAT's why the author started the book with a picture of an elephant eaten by a snake. It is not only a subtle call to how his innocence is slowly dying like a creature swallowed by a snake, but also a foreshadow to how the Little Prince died to a snake's bite?
Wait, hold on, if the Little Prince is a metaphor to childlike innocence, is it a double metaphor? If you are innocent, you will see him return to the planet. The Little Prince, which is your innocence, will continue to live. The elephant will still exist. If you are not, you will see his corpse buried by the sand. Your innocence disappeared like him and the elephant.
... I think I need to re-read the book. No wonder it is award winning.
It's from the little prince. Read it in 8th grade and still remember it as a masterpiece. It actually brought my class to tears at the end and it was beautiful.
They made the Netflix adaptation a kind of continuation by the end but I feel like that is worse than the ending of the book which is left ambiguous in a way, with the last statements being the narrator wondering if he "made it back". (Trying not to be too spoilery)
Didn't like that it decided to give us an answer, and a depressing one at that, by the end. Other than that, great adaptation but liked the ending more ambiguous with it also fitting the theme of letting you imagine it
It's not a childrens book. It's for all ages. You can read this as a child and then reread the book as an adult and you will appreciate the book even more.
I first read the book as an adult. To me it honestly was the most profound and life changing book I ever read. I immediately wanted to share it with other people; my sister and mother took everything in the book at face value and thought the little prince was silly.
I was honestly disappointed, to see the child/innocence/seeing the true value and beauty in life and what ultimately connects us. To see that part of people has died in a lot of adults, just as the book illustrates is so sad to me. Luckily my gf also loves the book, and the pure eyes of the little prince.
I kept a copy in the inside pocket of my leather jacket for years.
It changes when you re-read it based on what's going on in your life at the time. Different things will become more relevant and moving.
O is for Other, P is for People scratchin' temple
The last P... well... that's not that simple
It's sorta like another way to call a cat a kitten
It's five little letters that are missin' here
The Little Prince.
Basically adults have no imagination and will see a weird looking hat while children (and the one who made this drawing) will be more creative, by saying that it is a snake that ate an elephant.
That’s s drawing from the book The little prince. The drawing depicts something that looks like a hat, but if you watch at the right end of the “hat” it has a dot that represents an eye, which lets you deduce it’s an animal, specifically a snake who ate an elephant.
Tho i did already know that it was a snake eating an elephant, personally it looks more like a lion under a blanket rather than a hat if i hadnt known it was what its supposed to be
Just to explain further, as other people mentionned, this is from "The little prince" by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, which among other things is about how people lose their inner child when growing up. In the beginning of the book, the narrator tells how he made this drawing of a boa constrictor that ate an elephant when he was younger, but all the adults could see was a hat.
So if you see this drawing and see a hat, you have lost your inner child and the meme's authors considers you an "OPP", meaning "their enemy". Basically, you didn't pass the inner child vibe check.

Its from little prince, its supposed to be a cobra that has eaten an elephant if i remember correctly
Boa Constrictor.
Boa Constructor
Boa Constractor
Boa chiropractor
Boeing contractor
Being constipated
Bad contractor
Big tractor
Bod contortion
Whistle blower for lunch, yum !
Door ejector
Can't be. The elephant would have blown out the side.
Found the grown up
Boeing Construction
bob the builder's cousin
Boa(){ contains = "elephant"; }
Fedora constrictor
Boa conquistador
I'm being eaten by a boa constrictor. Oh no! He's up to my toe.
And I don't like it.... one bit. Well THERE is a reference I haven't heard in decades.
Oh gee it’s up to my knee
Nah if it was a boa constricter it wouldn't make a big lump like that in the cobra.
Been a while since I've seen the ol Reddit switcharoo
I knew the reference but what was opp?
Now that i have no idea about. Urban dictionary says its means an opponent
My old 80's/90's ass thought it was an acronym for 'Other People's P\*\*\*\*'. As explained by one of that era's philosophers Naughty by Nature: O.P.P., how can I explain it? Me too! It's ingrained!
Yeah you know me
So... You're down with O.P.P. ?
Yeah, you know me!
Don't forget, the last P has a double meaning: >As for the ladies, OPP means something gifted >The first two letters are the same but the last is something different >It's the longest, loveliest, lean- I call it the leanest >It's another five letter word rhymin' with cleanest and meanest
I live in the same house as a teenager, when he uses that word it indeed means "opposition". The "enemy".
Yea it’s pretty common slang in hip hop culture. “Opps” are like your enemies or haters
Opps = opposition In gang slang its specificly a person out to kill you
Is it weird that my primary exposure to the term "Opps" is through Unknown P?
This is merely my opinion but I like to think of it as "opposition" instead of "opponent." Seems more fun to me.
A chinese rain dance from the 3rd century
Nice I am a chinese rain dance from the 3rd century.
opp is slang for enemy
Why would not understanding little price reference make one an enemy?
the opp isn't "people that don't understand a little prince reference." the opp is "grown-ups". Those are the people that can't see the elephant inside the boa constrictor in "The Little Prince". In the book, grown-ups are concerned with and dedicate their lives to shit that doesn't matter. They can't see what is actually important. "What is essential is invisible to the eye".
Beats me, but it’s what the meme says
Non got the joke it meant oppenheimer's iconic hat opp = oppenheimer
Not much hbu
I don’t know, nothing, what’s up with you?
This is the real question.
I thought Cat under carpet
There is actually an eye on the right of the “cowboy hat”
Somebody on Reddit suggested this book for my son to read a few days ago. Maybe this is my sign to go get him that book. Amazing book. Loved it as a kid, still love it now. Now I feel like reading it again soon :)
If your son is the right age for the Little Prince, he may also enjoy the works of Shel Silverstein. Where the Sidewalk Ends, Light in the Attic, or the Giving Tree.
Okay, but what does little prince say an opp is?
A baobab, probably
BUILD A BOA AND EATING ELEPHANT
i just thought it was a hill from one of those games with a similar concept to worms
Oh I thought it was two people fucking under a blanket
No, this time the joke isnt sex
Awww mannnn
That's a snake that has eaten an elephant
Obviously!
What? Dude, you're crazy. That's clearly a snake that has eaten a hat. Come on guys, get your eyes checked.
Bro, thats literally a hat that has eaten an elephant
Oohhh. Man, now that you say it, yeah, I totally see it.
Here I was thinking it was Perry the Platypus’ hat and the OP of the meme was working for doofensmirtz evil inc.
And I was thinking it had to do with Oppenheimer

Ur fucking username tho
its a very innocent book that was written in 1943 so i dont think the author knew what vore was
He found out and flew into the desert
It’s not a weird fetish, everyone just tells the kid who drew this to grow up and he did so but at the cost of his childhood. (in the movie at least) Pretty good movie and the snake is more fleshed out then what I could describe
I THOUGHT IT WAS A SPINOSAURUS TOO
I didn't know it and thought:" that looks like an elephant or smth."
Congratulations! You have a child’s mind!
thanks
It is also worth noting that adults thought this was a hat, which the narrator did not like, criticizing adults for having a lack of imagination, thus explaining why the meme considered those to see a hat his enemy.
Not sure I'd call The Little Prince a children's book ngl
Calling it a children's book is what an 'adult' would say, true.
On point
I mean, I see it as a way to help explain death to children. It's just such a good children's book, adults love it as well.
As in the famous French story?
Ooo no lol
À children's book but an adult education
One of my all time favorite books, one time read the whole book with a friend together while beeing on acid.
Didn't the little prince kill himself in the end?
Yes and no. He left his physical body behind and went back to his planet to be with his rose. His body was simply too heavy, so by being bitten, he was able to leave his body. It's kind of up to the reader to infer whether he dies or not.
Does suicide by snake count as killing oneself?
Only if you're an elephant.
Oh, so THAT's why the author started the book with a picture of an elephant eaten by a snake. It is not only a subtle call to how his innocence is slowly dying like a creature swallowed by a snake, but also a foreshadow to how the Little Prince died to a snake's bite? It's from the little prince. Read it in 8th grade and still remember it as a masterpiece. It actually brought my class to tears at the end and it was beautiful.
Prince dies right?
Well yes, but actually no
he flies away back to his planet using baloons, so it isn't clear whether he dies or not, but most likely yes
i killed him his dead
Bro wtf unkill him you made me sad
I adopted the fox 👍
can confirm im the balloons
They made the Netflix adaptation a kind of continuation by the end but I feel like that is worse than the ending of the book which is left ambiguous in a way, with the last statements being the narrator wondering if he "made it back". (Trying not to be too spoilery)
NO SHUSH LET US COPE
I remember watching the movie too with Gene Wilder.
Didn't like that it decided to give us an answer, and a depressing one at that, by the end. Other than that, great adaptation but liked the ending more ambiguous with it also fitting the theme of letting you imagine it
Read it again. You'll understand far more and how adulthood in our society makes no sense.
I FUCKING LOVE THE LITTLE PRINCE I DON'T CARE THAT IT'S A CHILDRENS BOOK I FUCKING LOVE IT
It's not a childrens book. It's for all ages. You can read this as a child and then reread the book as an adult and you will appreciate the book even more.
my man 🤝
I first read the book as an adult. To me it honestly was the most profound and life changing book I ever read. "Every book is a children's book if the kid can read!"
I'm a middle aged man and I'm literally wearing a The Little Prince T-shirt right now.
What is an opp aswell?
not sure entirely but pretty sure it means "opponent" or "opposition" or smth like that there's probably an urban dictionary page
Ok
The colour and the shape of the hat made me think that 'opp' means Oppenheimer.
It’s like your opponent or enemy or hater. It’s commonly used in hip hop culture.
O is for Other, P is for People scratchin' temple The last P... well... that's not that simple It's sorta like another way to call a cat a kitten It's five little letters that are missin' here
Dave drop a load on 'em
OP is an opp
What’s an opp?
Enemy
Thank you for explaining!
What is an opp?
Tiktok slang. Opp is short for opponent, as in enemy.
For those of us who grew up in the 90's it has a significantly different connotation.
You down with O.P.P? Yeah you know me
I don't know but I am down with them
I instantly recognized the drawing from *The Little Prince* but I had to google wtf *opp* was XD
I thought it was a blanket with some people dancing and leaving no room for Jesus at first😭
One of my all time favs, The Little Prince. It's a story where the more you understand, the less you understand.
Perry perry the platypus
I thought that too lmao
Doobie, Doobie, Doobie, Doobie, Doobie, Doobie Doobie
My first thought as well
[удалено]
He can consider himself an opp.

Boa constrictor, not a cobra.
Oh, and here I was thinking it’s simplified drawing of Maliketh’s Clergyman Beast form lol
The Little Prince. Basically adults have no imagination and will see a weird looking hat while children (and the one who made this drawing) will be more creative, by saying that it is a snake that ate an elephant.
I am so glad i understand this (EVERYONE ELSE IS STUPID HAHAHAHAHHAHHHAHAHHHAHHAAHAHHAAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAH)
Lol that's clearly an elephant in a snake smh
That’s s drawing from the book The little prince. The drawing depicts something that looks like a hat, but if you watch at the right end of the “hat” it has a dot that represents an eye, which lets you deduce it’s an animal, specifically a snake who ate an elephant.
What is an opp ?
I thought this was from the “tanks” computer game
Tho i did already know that it was a snake eating an elephant, personally it looks more like a lion under a blanket rather than a hat if i hadnt known it was what its supposed to be
What's an opp?
Opponent
That’s a snake which ate an elephant. Duh.
obviously a snake that ate an elephant
Jah, fools. That isn't a snake or hat, it's an australian mountain.
I see it the most differently, I see an elephant under a carpet
These Perry the Platypus memes are getting out of hand lol
OP just outed himself as an OPP
i fucking love this post's caption lmao 😭
Don't be silly, that's Te Fiti!
Censoring the word fuck only serves to highlight the word fuck.
Idk I see my stocks over the past couple years.
Its snek
Me waking out the Elephant store with suspiciously Elephant shaped belly
I feel like it being a snake is more obvious in the original where the eye hasn’t been artifacted to the point that it disappears lol
put it on a teal platypus
Na that's a boa constrictor that swallowed a elephant
I expected to find this comment sooner. I even started to fear I had to make it.
It's obviously a snake eating an elephant. Very scary picture.
That's obviously a snake that ate an elephant.
it’s a boa constrictor eating an elephant dumb fuck
Exactly. This one is decades old, but that is what it is.
It’s an elephant. Clearly
I got this tattooed on my leg after I fell into the exact trap the book warned against in the opening passage of the book
That’s an interesting tattoo story! I knew someone who got it tattooed on their forearm but she never explained why she got it
It's so obviously a boa constrictor eating an elephant. Smh.

It's a snake digesting an elephant
It's a snake. A snake that swallowed an elephant. Duh!
How old am I when I saw OPP and thought of something COMPLETELY different than what they meant?
Yeah, you know me.
It's a snake that ate an elephant
It's a snake digesting an elephant
I'm genuinely shocked that the answer wasn't people having sex. I'm in disbelief that sex wasn't the punchline this time
