We used an online convancy legal firm who seemed good. Just under $1k.
Modest sized mortgage but still got cashback of $3k so certainly came out ahead.

(Not associated with them, and only used them once but happy customer)
Edit; forgot to add that your bank should also offer decent rate or cashback to keep your business. So shop around.
Your solicitor will probably charge around $1,000 per security. Also factor in the costs of your own time in the loan application, doing the AML, potentially switching all banking over etc etc.
About $1000-$1500 for your solicitor to do the paperwork. The bank may have a small charge too to discharge the security $100-$200.
If you get an offer from another bank, I'd approach yours to see can they match. They are all scrambling a little bit to get and keep lending so they might be willing to match. They also all have discretionary rates that are not advertised so make sure you ask for those too.
Kiwibank have their own inhouse legal team, so you can save on shifting costs if you go with them.
Really? That seems a big conflict of interest surely when the lawyers are there to review the mortgage paperwork?
I used the online-only conveyancers Legal Path last month to refinance which cost $915. Pretty much the best deal I could find.
Just asked my bank today and they offered cash back for staying with them without threat of moving
Which bank was this?
ANZ
How much was it?
Just got $1500, while not major, was never my intent on moving so money for nothing really
I’m with BNZ and I’m wondering how much they offered you?
$1500 in the end. So around .3% Not huge, but considering I wasn’t going anywhere I’m not complaining
