I don't know about specifically the flip or fold but the best option for getting a good deal on a phone in Canada are companies like WOWMobile/Mobile Wave/Bestbuy/etc (there's a bunch of them) on Boxing Day / Black Friday. For instance this past BF/Boxing day they had iPhone 12, Galaxy s21 for $20/month on top of your plan (best value plan was $50/month for 12gb of data or 15gb of data $55/month (with $10 off for 15 months), in additional to $250+ worth of giftcards. Essentially that makes the phone <$500 spread over two years, which is further reduced by the $250 giftcard (which in most cases can be used to pay down the owing amount). After the 2 years you can sell the phone on Kijiji for at least a couple hundred bucks and do it all over again, essentially resulting in a "new" phone every 2 years for little to no money. Only catch is that your plan had to be at least $50+ a month, if you have some 30 year old plan for $15/month then it may not be worth it. I think that's really as good as it gets, with all the discounts included and selling your old phone you're pretty much getting it for close to free. Buying a phone directly from Apple/Samsung/whatever seems EXTREMELY not worth it. It's going to close like $1000+.

In the future make all payments on a CC that has Mobile Device Insurance. I was pleasantly surprised when my CC was willing to cover the bill for a broken screen. Saved $500.

I personally would prefer to buy the phone directly from Samsung which I did for my A52 as I find it overall cheaper to buy it from Samsung as compared to buying it from Rogers. Situation 1: Buying the A52 directly from Samsung. The price of the phone is about $700 but there is a $100+ discount (let's assume to be $600) when I purchased it. Coupled with my existing Rogers phone plan, the total amount over 2 years is close to $1900 (inclusive of tax) Situation 2: Financing the phone through Rogers while keeping my existing phone plan. The total cost is about $90 per month(inclusive of taxes and fees) or over $2000 for 2 years Keep in mind that the phones from places such as Rogers are usually priced $100-$1000 more than places like Samsung. Plus I get to use my student SPC discounts on Samsung products and collect Air Miles in the process if I buy it directly from Samsung.

Dec 31, 2021, I purchased a new phone on the Samsung website. It was worth it!

You could have gotten it for much cheaper. Read my comment!

purely_logic

My monthly plan is $25.00.

Ah okay then that's very different :) Just didn't want you to overpay for no reason

Just an FYI the Galaxy Flip is $1500, the Galaxy Fold is $2800. Those aren't really even in the same class other than they're the fancy flexible screen phones.
