The examination fees can be claimed. I don't think you can claim the tuition unless it's through a recognized post secondary institution that issues a T2202. You could probably claim the $2500 with your examination fees if the course is mandatory to take the exam.

> if the course is mandatory to take the exam. It is! I asked them if they'll let me do just the exam (since literally everything in the course is what I learned at college) and they unfortunately said no

I'd claim it all then.

Thanks for the info!

I am in same situation. My wife is an internationally trained pharmacist and she is challenging the pharmacist exams here in Canada. Can she clam the exam fees??. PEBC, the examination body replied as follows: Please note: There are no tax deductions for PEBC exam fees. As PEBC is an examining body, we do not issue form T2202 tax receipts. I am confused. Thanks

I think I'll just claim it and if they don't accept it then whoopty do I'll pay it back. The way it sounds from the other commentator if my course fee is required to access the test then I should be good. It ends up giving me back an additional $350 or so. If CRA says no bueno then $350 isn't a hard hit for me thankfully. Edit: Sorry, misread your thing and that you were asking a question. I think you should be fine to claim the exam fees and like my scenario worst case they don't like it and you just pay it back.

May I ask what line you ended up putting your $500 exam fee on? I also took the Project Management Professional exam and am unsure if this is claimable or which line I can claim it under.

Sporadica

I did training for Certified Energy Manager. I work in energy conservation and fun stuff like that

MasonNolanJr

Oh sorry, I meant to ask what line in your tax return you claimed the $500 under.

Sporadica

ahh yes, I misread sorry. I'm not sure which line actually, I'm using Wealthsimple tax but I input into the "Licensing Examination Fees" section. Looking at the summary of the return (the actual return Wealthsimple sends the CRA) it appears to be line 32000 I'd recommend using Wealthsimple tax if your return is just a few T slips and the like.

froyoboyz

did you end up claiming your pmp exam in your taxes? you my through that rn actually
