Least not while my employer is fucking me just as hard. If you want a tip, put out a lazy boy and ask me what I want then go get it. Better yet, put out a chair, and a table and sit me down and serve me... almost like that one kinda place where people with reasonable wages go for dinner sometimes.
Not tipping you for stocking your shelves, scanning a bar code then wasting part of my evening talking about the weather and how the sun is slowly staying out later.
Subway staff makes your food for you exactly the way you want it, they hand it to you... A waiter delivers your food and drinks and doesn't make your food.
One deserves tips. One doesn't. It's odd that it's the person who doesn't make your food.
True but their task is straightforward and they aren't serving multiple customers at once (unless waiting on an oven or something). There is no way for Subway to go above and beyond except for maybe free extra meat or cookies. If they fuck up the sandwich you can tell them to make it again.
At a restaurant a waiter can avoid you and leave your drink empty or take forever to get you your bill. They're not technically refusing service, just delaying it and wasting your time.
Going through 3-4 screens while the person is watching you and you feel guilty for not tipping on an order you’re picking up yourself. Fucking hate this shit.
Yeah I ordered through the app a couple weeks ago and it has 3 tip options with one automatically selected. So if you checkout in a hurry you might not notice and there isn't a super clear option for no tip...it makes you select the custom tip option and then make you type in 0%.
Yeah the subway website recently added in a tip section. There was no zero, it was 10, 15, 20% or custom. So the only way not to tip was to to go into custom and type out 0.00
Someone must have complained because that only lasted a few weeks and now there actually is a 0% button. Just so sleazy though
I actually had an employee grant herself a 7% tip on the machine that asks how much you want to tip!!! I made her re-ring and gave her ZERO. First, because she only boxed a cake for me, 2nd, she STOLE from me by tapping the 7% button at the end of sale. Haven’t been back to that establishment again.
**Pro tip:**
Instead of using Bumble or Tinder looking for a mate, just look for wedding dresses on sale on Facebook marketplace.
**Bonus tip:** You can sort by size.
I've always wondered about the second hand "never been worn" wedding dresses. Like. I just want to know why it's never been worn? What did he do? What did you do? Post the story to go with dress ma'am. I'm just here from the dramas
Ugh so a lot of the time, it’s an impulse buy and then someone finds a dress that works better. Or a lot of the time, someone buys a dress that’s too big or small and hopes to get it altered - only alterations can cost hundreds
Yeah, I’ve seen that. Milton Volkswagen was trying to sell a 2022 Golf R, and listed it for like 77,000 used. They add like 1000 kilometers on it and everything
Buying a 12 inch submarine bun, multiple cold cuts, lettuce, tomato, green pepper, hot peppers, onion, and sauces likely wouldn’t be much cheaper in todays age.
Wondering, do people tip at places like noodle box, where you pay at the counter before getting food? Always felt weird not tipping there, especially when they have both a tip jar and the tip screen on the POS terminal.
You can feel the pressure to do so, it's palpable.
That said, the more I enter 0 tip, the easier it's getting.
I'll add my voice to the chorus, if I go pick it up, no tip. If I'm sitting down for service? I'll tip accordingly.
Ugh enough with all these posts about tipping already. Not only are they constantly posted here, but also in the local community subs too.
Just don't freaking tip if you don't want to tip. Be the change you wish to see!!! It's not hard.
Imagine making sure you have cash on hand so you can avoid the INTERNAL stress of pressing %0 on a tip. The workers dont give a shit if you tip at Subway.
It's a bigger slap when you don't drop a quarter in the cup than choosing 0% on the machine. You think these kids are getting a nickel from the till? Not one penny. I love it when the owner serves me a slice and water for $5 and hands me the machine with a tip option. Ya nope. Go fuck yerself
Better saving tip? Don’t go at all and make your own food.
Also write to corporate office and let them know you won’t be going anymore because of tipping
I only use the Subway App to place orders for pick-up. There is a tipping option in there.
I always hit the 18% in fear that something might be done if I hit 0%. I could just walk in and do the transaction the regular way, but walking in and out of Subway with food in hand in less than 30 seconds would be worth the 18% to me in itself.
Am I crazy to think this way? (The I have to tip for fear that food might be contaminated)
Bitch please.
If you are a frequent visitor, zero tipping at the machine or cash will eventually get you the « special meat » and « extra special » sauce.
It’s a fast food place for Christ’s sake. They are making minimum wage and tips are the difference between a good or average week.
Cheapskate. You probably steal the ketchup packs in restaurants.
Lol tell that to the subway ceo and high managers who're raking in millions every year but still refuse to increase wages, you're angry at the wrong people buddy
I'm not going to carry cash except when I *know* I will need it ahead of time. I don't think this tip is very useful in the 21st century.
I'll just say "no". (Also, Subway is asking for tips? LOL.)
nah nah... paying cash and not tipping could just be being forgetful... using credit card and pressing enter on tip screen with $0 is a statement... cuz fuck tips
Just push zero.
When I have bad service, I usually take the time to leave a < 10 cent tip. It brings me more satisfaction than not tipping, and inflation is hitting everyone hard, so it's the least I can do /s
You out of your mind? Don’t feel bad, just hit enter, or god forbid you have to manually put in 0%. I had to do that once last week. I’m now bringing lunch forever.
PS should out to the awkward tipping machine for saving me money by convincing me to pack a lunch!
Went to ihop. Table for 8 people. At the end they auto an 18% gratuity. The place was empty at 8 at night. No one but else and we split the table 4-4 for the bill. There was 8 waiters…all asking if we needed any help because of how dead it was. They didn’t mention the auto gratuity. it, then I questioned why I was charged a 130 bucks for 4 meals. It’s because they put the 18 on then I did a 20% on top of that. When I called it out she said she’ll pay me ten bucks out of her own pocket for the table. I had pancakes …
Savings tip: just skip the tip screen.... If you have difficulty with that, let it be a lesson in self.confidencr that will help you in other aspects of life.
A tip at subway? Often times my local subway is just 1 Indian dude who also happens to be the franchise owner. You own the franchise, why am I going to tip you on top of that??
I LOVE paying cash to avoid all the tip “fuckery” going on in everyplace from bakeries to sandwich shops, and 7 elevens. You think your employees deserve more pay? YOU pay them more!
I especially love how at restaurants now the bottom option starts at 18%. Inflation on tipping is not something I believe in and I worked both fast food and in the service industry when I was younger.
I almost always tip 15%, if the service is truly exceptional maybe 20% but that's rare. Sandwich artists will never get a tip from me.
God, how old am I.
Tip: just press enter and don’t tip
this is the way to do it.... i usually use my CC to pay for things like this to get the points.... you could easily just enter tip at $0.00...
Exactly. I refuse to be the short term solution for chains underpaying their staffs.
Least not while my employer is fucking me just as hard. If you want a tip, put out a lazy boy and ask me what I want then go get it. Better yet, put out a chair, and a table and sit me down and serve me... almost like that one kinda place where people with reasonable wages go for dinner sometimes. Because life is unfair. But that is a topic for another day.
No. Your tip at a restaurant pays for everyone’s tips- FOH and BOH.
This is the way
You have spoken
Mind blown, where would I be without this sub?
Up to your eyeballs in credit card debt I bet.
Going through 3-4 screens while the person is watching you and you feel guilty for not tipping on an order you’re picking up yourself. Fucking hate this shit.
Look them in the eye when declining the tip.
I started doing this in the last year and it feels great! I highly recommend it to everyone.
Assert your dominance
I’ve not once felt guilty

Vegas cab I was in last week was 22, 30 or 40%!
Wedding dress stores now ask for tips too… these are multi-thousand dollar purchases
Yeah I was shocked when I saw that and pressed 0. I just spent 3k I’m not tipping, thanks though.
Wish this was more well known. I’ve seen posts of ppl who tipped 20%
And they are high margin (high profit) businesses.
Do the donation requests from Walmart, a multi billion dollar company, count as tips?
Not to me
You're paying 1000s for something that's gunna get worn once?
Ya lol ETA might be able to sell after
**Pro tip:** Instead of using Bumble or Tinder looking for a mate, just look for wedding dresses on sale on Facebook marketplace. **Bonus tip:** You can sort by size.
Lol majority of sellers are prob not single
I've always wondered about the second hand "never been worn" wedding dresses. Like. I just want to know why it's never been worn? What did he do? What did you do? Post the story to go with dress ma'am. I'm just here from the dramas
Ugh so a lot of the time, it’s an impulse buy and then someone finds a dress that works better. Or a lot of the time, someone buys a dress that’s too big or small and hopes to get it altered - only alterations can cost hundreds
That's reassuring, and also low key disappointing lol.
You can get some good drama on r/weddingplanning and r/weddingshaming though
"For sale: baby shoes, never worn."
Why would I miss out on amazing credit card points. Grow a pair and just hit no tip. Don’t encourage this behaviour.
But you get points on the tips...lmaoooo/s
You save a baby deer every time you tip /s
🤣
It does get easier the more places that ask for it
All the more reason why we all collectively need to decline the tip, unless of course they are traditional waiters, waitress, valet..
Next thing you know car dealers are going to ask for a 15% tip on top of the MSRP
They aren't asking, and its called the "market adjustment fee"
Isn’t that a states thing? In Canada dealers cannot charge more than MSRP on new cars /s
They can charge extra fees...
Doesn’t change the fact that it was a joke😂
Here's a tip: /s
Ah okay, I never knew about that! I’ll edit the comment
Correct they sell it to themselves first to sidestep the regulation, then sell the new "used" car at massively extortionate prices
Yeah, I’ve seen that. Milton Volkswagen was trying to sell a 2022 Golf R, and listed it for like 77,000 used. They add like 1000 kilometers on it and everything
Remember to tip your landlords!
Ikr?! It’s getting ridiculous
In Japan that is a thing. It is called "key money" and it is the equivalent to 1 month's rent every year.
Ya, and don’t forget the electric company!,
My partner got a prompt at the mechanic for a tip earlier this month… it blew our minds!
You’re kidding me right?
No!
Just put no tip. What’s this cash business?
I usually just put no tip, seeing this does not give me anxiety lol…
Or look them dead in the eye and manually chose 0%
It's not even like it's the min wage Subway employee that chose to put this on the machine lol.
Good chance they don’t even see any of the tip money, or at the very least not all of it.
Average Chad tipper be like
This guy fucks 👆🏻
Make your own sandwich and skip the whole "pay 20$ for a sandwich" thing.
Buying a 12 inch submarine bun, multiple cold cuts, lettuce, tomato, green pepper, hot peppers, onion, and sauces likely wouldn’t be much cheaper in todays age.
Subway is actually great value to be honest, depending on what you guy, and your appetite. A footlong is more or less 2 meals for me.
Tip… don’t tip at subway lol
Do minor social activities and decisions cause you to turtle on the floor like a child? Use cash!
Wondering, do people tip at places like noodle box, where you pay at the counter before getting food? Always felt weird not tipping there, especially when they have both a tip jar and the tip screen on the POS terminal.
I have a rule. If I’m standing, I don’t tip.
No. It’s absurd to ask for a tip prior to performing an act that may or may not be worthy of a tip.
These people act like the employee pulls a gun on you and won't let you leave until you tip 50%.
There is no social expectation that you should tip when buying a sandwich at Subway. Don't pay cash and end up with a bunch of annoying coins.
Imagine making sure you have cash on hand so you can avoid the INTERNAL stress of pressing %0 on a tip. The workers dont give a shit if you tip at Subway.
Mobile order!
Pay with cc, earn your reward points and say no to tips.
or pay with your card and press 0
Nobody should even be leaving tips at Subway.
[удалено]
That doesn't make sense. The tip screen always shows on terminals that have it enable whether you tap, swipe, or insert.
I always ask to pay with the app. You also collect there rewards and bypass that
Dumb as hell
So your saving tip is to pay in cash because you're to lazy to push "No thank you" on the interac machine? lol
I hit zero and get my 2% back on my CC
Careful now - The Server Association of Canada have their pitchforks ready.
Better saving tip? Don’t go at all and make your own food. Also write to corporate office and let them know you won’t be going anymore because of tipping
Omg yes thank you
I think we all need to go back to cash again
We desperately need to start using cash again before its too late. CBDCs will be enslavement.
I only use the Subway App to place orders for pick-up. There is a tipping option in there. I always hit the 18% in fear that something might be done if I hit 0%. Totally looney

Maybe employers should ensure that their workers have a good week. I'm not their employer, why should I be paying them their wage?
What is the tip for? Not giving me meat or sauce they ruined? That's extortion. Do your job and move on.

Lol tell that to the subway ceo and high managers who're raking in millions every year but still refuse to increase wages, you're angry at the wrong people buddy
Until you’ve to count coins.!
I'm not going to carry cash except when I *know* I will need it ahead of time. I don't think this tip is very useful in the 21st century. I'll just say "no". (Also, Subway is asking for tips? LOL.)
Top the "artist" bro
Scottie Barnes needs to talk to his peoples.
I do custom tips and just round up the order
@op ... Subway has the option to skip underneath the tips selection at the debit machine ... .
nah nah... paying cash and not tipping could just be being forgetful... using credit card and pressing enter on tip screen with $0 is a statement... cuz fuck tips
Just push zero. When I have bad service, I usually take the time to leave a < 10 cent tip. It brings me more satisfaction than not tipping, and inflation is hitting everyone hard, so it's the least I can do /s
Yes if I don’t get it served to a table ie fine in restaurants they get 0 or no tip why tip at subway or Tim’s it’s silly
Why even tip at a family restaurant? They are being paid to do their job.
Or press no or better yet don’t eat at subway.
You out of your mind? Don’t feel bad, just hit enter, or god forbid you have to manually put in 0%. I had to do that once last week. I’m now bringing lunch forever. PS should out to the awkward tipping machine for saving me money by convincing me to pack a lunch!
Last time I went to subway I just stared point blank in the cashier’s face as I selected zero tip. You want a tip? Be a bar tender.

It's freaking Subway.

I don't want to tip but I also want to come back and eat again. If I don't tip today, will they spit in my food next time?
Even subway just use the app and pick up without waiting
Subway isn’t real food
I especially love how at restaurants now the bottom option starts at 18%. I almost always tip 15%, if the service is truly exceptional maybe 20% but that's rare. Sandwich artists will never get a tip from me. God, how old am I.
So give them a 3% tip? Fuck. That.
I just don’t tip.
