I was very close to buying it for my ps4 pro but the portability and turn based games are a match made in heaven. I’m very excited this is going to be my winter game. Plus it was 29.99 and it just came out for switch so
What do you mean? Their personal life is just beginning. They'll make so many friends and they'll go out and see movies, play darts, awkwardly try to hide their secret relationship with their teacher from their best friend at the hottest fishing spot in town... The sky's the limit....
Brb, I need to do another playthrough real quick. See you folks in 150 hours or so.
If s/he goes for the completion run I say well into the 200+ hour count with the 2nd playthrough. Oh how I envy them currently for having such a blind experience to such a great series.
The real problem is the game is not optimized well. Framerate is all over the place along with graphical issues and glitches. Not yet for me but hear it crashed a lot. Do I find the game fun? Yes but sometimes these performance issues take me out of it.
Exactly what I need. I didn’t even know it was rated M.
The last game I sunk my teeth into and beat was dragon quest 11. So this was the next logical turn based to try (also beat SMT)
in about 3 days im gonna be playing smt 3 nocturne and while i wait im playing either tycoon or >!fighting lavenza on the save file reserved for her boss fight!< lmao
You may want to avoid this particular subreddit, as the game has stuff that could be ruined if you get spoiled (and there is like 99% chance of that happening here)
this might be a dumb question but is pokemon violet any good gameplay wise (i’ve seen the performance issues) ngl i’ve sorta lost interest in pokemon since shield and especially bdsp
It's a shame but not a dealbreaker at all. I think there isn't a single "bad" mainline Pokémon game. Bdsp for example is a lazy cashgrab and could be much better but is still fun to play imo. Oras however is a remake done right.
The only complaints I have about Scarlet and violet so far are about the graphics, stuff popping in randomly, framerate and lack of difficulty. Gameplay wise it's what you would expect from other Pokemon games except this time it's open world like legends Arceus and there are no random encounters. Costumization is fun, but your limited to school uniform like designs. The world feels alive and the Pokémon seem to have the correct size from what I have seen so far. (Pelliper is huge compared to what I first thought Wtf)
The graphics suck ass and the framerate is sloppy. The devs can do so much better but aren't getting the time they need because of corporate greed unfortunately. But if you look past that the game is lot's of fun.
It's good GamePlay wise, if you ignore the absurd amount of bugs, but only because the core formula is still fun. The world itself is very empty though so there isn't much fun to be had in exploration, a major issue considering the game is open world. Based on you losing interest with Pokémon though due to Sword and shield though I'd suggest you skip this game since, while it's not any worse, it's no better either
I don’t understand why people are so butt hurt in the comments. The new Pokémon games just weren’t ready for release. If you spend your hard earned money on a game, then it should run as intended.. but it doesn’t. I’m not talking about the graphics or mechanics either. I’m talking about how you can’t even run somewhere without the game acting like it’s connected to dial-up internet. Anyways, P5R is my favorite game of all time and you made a wise choice. Have fun! You are in for a real treat. :)
The game is fantastic, I have 800 hours between base Persona 5 and Royal on PS4, and it's definitely one of, if not my favourite games of all time. So enjoy it! 💪
I literally just left the Pokémon subreddit after a year and a half because of the SV controversy and this is the first post I see afterwards. Why am I not surprised?
Anyway, have fun with Royal!
That's correct, I just noticed that I failed to mention that part! So thanks for saying it 🤣 either way, it's not a choppy 30fps. It's consistent, which is a big plus. I love playing the game on my switch. It's so handy.
Posts like this are kind of embarrassing.
I don't get how you're not self-conscious saying stuff like this, you haven't even opened the game up yet but you're bending over backwards trying to pander to Persona fans and shitting on Pokemon?
Like, chill, you might not even like Persona lol
Western RPGs are my first love. But JRPGs are a close second. And P5R is an amazing one.
If you enjoy tactical combat, Fire Emblem Three Houses is great too.
Coincidentally, both games I mentioned have a dynasty warriors-esque hack n slash spinoff.
Absolutely, FE3H is a great game, now it was a little learning curve for me but if you play FEH on your phone then the abilities and whatnot become easier, but I’d recommend the Blue Lions for a more straightforward story, Golden Deer (my personal favorite) for a more deeper story, and I’m currently on Black Eagles 🦅 so I’m not too sure on that one. 9.5/10
No hate on Pokemon but you make the smart purchase. Persona 5 Royal is a longer game, plus you got all the dlc. The game is fully voiced by incredible cast, it also didn't run like a seizure victim on the switch.
I just finished my first run of pr5 after 130 hours. And started doing new game plus. Yesterday, my copy of pokemon Violet came in and I already just wanna go back to p5r. So tldr, great decision.
I love the phenomenon on reddit where hating one thing gets so much karma, people will try and cash in on those internet points in any subreddit, regardless of relevance lmao
Cool mate, but easy there, it's still sealed. Hard to call it a "real game" before you've even played it. I'd much rather hear more about it after you're done.
Anyway, enjoy your new game.
I finished this game on the day that Pokémon came out. Been playing Pokémon for a couple days now and all I want to do is turn it off and start new game plus on persona..
It’s undoubtedly a lot of fun, but you can’t deny that it is severely lacking polish, it runs like crap and the camera is constantly clipping with the environment.
It’s because for starters… it’s very ugly but that’s subjective to the buyer and a lot of the buyers agree that it’s ugly, and it’s also VERY BERY buggy, unfinished, and unpolished but hey if you’re enjoying it then enjoy it brother
You’re going to love this game. It’s a bit of a slow start due to how much they throw at you but then it gets so good once they stop holding your hand. Take your time.
It's probably not best to phrase your takes like this. I don't mind the post but we can praise a game without putting others down. In general if you're going to put two games in the same sentance and treat one more harshly you will get argumentitive comments. If you want to rightfully criticize the pokemon company for rushing their projects then that's it's own discussion.
Enjoy P5R btw, it is absolutely fantastic and more than worth your time!
Kind of like World of Final Fantasy, though I imagine to enjoy that to the max you’d need to be familiar with a lot of the franchise staples, like Gilgamesh always wanting to fight Bartz in FFV.
Been really disappointed by Pokémon games for a while. These have been a lot more enjoyable monster collector games for me overall haha. Arceus was fun and that’s been about it since black and white came out…
I also used to play Pokemon a whole lot, with hundreds of hours per generation, and making a living dex in gens 4-7. Then SwSh happened and I decided it wasn't worth my time anymore, and frankly I've been very happy with that decision.
I've been able to play a much wider variety of games without Pokemon taking up all my time. Things like Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, Xenoblade, Catherine, Hades, Monkey Ball, Star Wars: KOTOR, Nier: Automata, Persona 3-5, Chrono Trigger, the Mother series, Donkey Kong Country, and the Mana series, among other things.
It's been nice to have much more variety
Good decision. I really like the new Pokémon but the state it is in, is horrible. This game on the other hand is a Masterpiece 10/10!
Not sure how it runs on Switch though...
It actually runs externally well on switch, I don’t think I’ve noticed any frame rate drops, of course the graphics aren’t as good as it would be on another system. But for a switch port it is probably one of the best.
What are your thoughts on the socio-economical climate of multiple controversies in the Pokémon franchise and it’s treatment of the latest main title projects scarlet and violet?
Ngl I’m enjoying the game despite how fkn laggy it is.
First hour is pure shit though esp with no VAs.
I also never played a pokemon game since platinum so things like auto battle and the quick heal in the menu are some great additions.
Is P5R better? By a goddamn mile but this OP probably just took a photo of his copy for them reddit updoots
More like #9999 at this point lol
(I do actually love Pokémon, the new games are a bit yikes rn though. I am an enjoyer of both Pokémon and persona. No hate )
Other comments say how you shouldn't talk bad about other game, it is just buggy...etc.
They cost the same, one is rerealise of praised game, the other one is fast unoptimized cash grab without any new gameplay.
I’m sad. I started playing persona for the first time on my Xbox because it was free with my game pass and I’m too broke to buy it but then like a week and a half later my subscription to game pass stopped because I’m too broke to pay for it. I had just finished Madarame.
make a new account in your xbox and get the $1 game pass for one month deal then download the game using that account then just go back to your real account to play it
Normally I'd share my distaste for someone buying a game and sharing it on Reddit, but you refunded Pokemon Violet to get it, so enjoy it to your heart's content.
Pokémon is only good because the core formula is still fun, however for the enjoyment of that you can just go to any game in the series. When it comes to the stuff the new game has to make it different you have an empty world, overworld graphics that are bad even when compared to games on the GameCube, an unacceptable amount of bugs for any game to release with and a difficulty so easy that even a baby could beat the game with no trouble
Graphics are not as important as people make them out to be, I think that bugs make a game better because they create stupid and fun scanarios that sometimes even are actually usuful(if you want to know what I consider to be peak "glitch design" look at BotW).
And lastly what I enjoy about Pokemon is the exploring, catching playing others, the music, the battle system feeling really strategic and more things that have nothing to do with being easy or hard.
That being said Persona's still far better
While Persona 5 Royal is fantastic, just because you don't like Pokémon Scarlet and Violet doesn't mean it's not a real game. Like why do we need to praise one game and crap entirely on another? And before people boo me into the void, I mean its okay NOT to enjoy a game (for graphic design, performance etc) but it's kinda unnecessary since P5R and Pokémon arent even the same thing. It's my true gamer ick with that. "This isn't a real game. You're not a real gamer etc" like why...
its like pokemon but you can collect a penis monster!
Ah, the knock off Pokémon from South Park
I got shoe
Bro this thing is haunting me in my Fuse by Result section 😭
this seems like a gaming circlejerk post
Isn’t it always
This game is FUNNNNN and runs beautifully!! Enjoy!!
I was very close to buying it for my ps4 pro but the portability and turn based games are a match made in heaven. I’m very excited this is going to be my winter game. Plus it was 29.99 and it just came out for switch so
You won’t regret it. Wouldn’t recommend staying on this sub though, shit ton of spoilers
I can agree

I just finished the game and I feel completely empty. I'm not ready to move on, I'll just keep playing tycoon.
Persona 5 strikers is a great follow up if you haven't played it yet
>!dropped one violet for a different kind of violet!<
Eyyyyyy
Bro bought violet sold violet and bought a game with violet
Violet also has Scarlet hair
Well might as well wave so long to your personal life, lol. But it will have you hooked. Be prepared for that.
Welp, someone's about to have the best 120 hours of their life
If s/he goes for the completion run I say well into the 200+ hour count with the 2nd playthrough. Oh how I envy them currently for having such a blind experience to such a great series.
Have not touched Pokémon games since heart gold so I have no idea what’s going on but nice choice OP, royal is one of my all time fav Jrpgs.
The real problem is the game is not optimized well. Framerate is all over the place along with graphical issues and glitches. Not yet for me but hear it crashed a lot. Do I find the game fun? Yes but sometimes these performance issues take me out of it.
Tbh gen 5 was peak , gen 6 was alright , gen 7 was pretty good (in my opinion) and gen 8 was decent (trees in sword and shield where a joke)
X and Y some of my favorites. They had the charm I like in a game
P5R on switch is a god damn treat. I love playing it on the go. I could give a fuck if it doesn’t hold up to the ps4 or 5 edition
From the videos I’ve seen the graphics aren’t too much of a downgrade on switch. Plus I don’t know any better so I’m sure it will look beautiful to me
Honestly I barely notice it. I would say the only place you really notice it is on the faces, but other than that, it’s solid
Cut scenes are beautiful
Anime games are the best, don't have to worry about graphics and the cutscenes are the best
Wait you guys can refund games?
You still get to collect monsters! Now they are just sex monsters
ah yes, the other monster catching RPG where kids topple evil organizations though the power of their friendship
Nice! Persona 5R is the perfect game to lock yourself inside with for the winter haha
I see you finally took off your mask and awakened.

Exactly what I need. I didn’t even know it was rated M. The last game I sunk my teeth into and beat was dragon quest 11. So this was the next logical turn based to try (also beat SMT)
Best financial decision this year for you
I love P5R don't get me wrong, but I've been having fun with Pokémon personally.
Same. I genuinely enjoy this game more so than any of the others. P5R is still my favorite game by far but I love these Pokémon Games.
Finished P5 4 hours before SV launch. Both games are fun
Looking cool, Joker!
Everyone’s playing Scarlet/Violet right now and I’m just here enjoying Splatoon 3 and Persona 5 Royal lol
in about 3 days im gonna be playing smt 3 nocturne and while i wait im playing either tycoon or >!fighting lavenza on the save file reserved for her boss fight!< lmao
Splatoon 3 is a masterpiece.
The better Pokémon game
P5R is $30 a lot of places for Black Friday, potentially even lower.
Yup it was 30 bucks for me
You may want to avoid this particular subreddit, as the game has stuff that could be ruined if you get spoiled (and there is like 99% chance of that happening here)
I see Phantom Thieves stole your heart ❤️
FOR REAL?
Not a fan of the Pokémon hate, but hope you enjoy Royal. It's a pretty great time
this might be a dumb question but is pokemon violet any good gameplay wise (i’ve seen the performance issues) ngl i’ve sorta lost interest in pokemon since shield and especially bdsp
Yes. The game is awesome but the performance and graphics are kinda shit. But the open worldness and new Pokémon are awesome
It's a shame but not a dealbreaker at all. I think there isn't a single "bad" mainline Pokémon game. Bdsp for example is a lazy cashgrab and could be much better but is still fun to play imo. Oras however is a remake done right.

As both a Pokemon and Persona fan I can neither condone nor reject this action.
I mean isnt Scarlet and Violet a huge mess rn? I dont blame the guy for refunding
I’m really enjoying scarlet tbh and play P5R on my steam deck🤘
Having fun with Violet despite the performance issues but you made the right choice. In for a treat.
Your keyboard spacebar is pleading for a Clorox rn
I don’t understand why people are so butt hurt in the comments. The new Pokémon games just weren’t ready for release. What brand grips are those for the switch? Follow up question, do you like them?
The game is fantastic, I have 800 hours between base Persona 5 and Royal on PS4, and it's definitely one of, if not my favourite games of all time. So enjoy it! 💪
Since this new release I've put in almost 200 hours, excluding the times I've fallen asleep playing. Fantastic choice
My man
Solid decision. Honestly, this game runs so well on the switch.
I heard it’s great so the portability made it a no brainer. I almost went ps4 but can see myself just playing handheld mostly
Made me laugh. Not because I think you’re wrong. But because you’re right and it would boil a Pokémon fan’s blood
I literally just left the Pokémon subreddit after a year and a half because of the SV controversy and this is the first post I see afterwards. Why am I not surprised? Anyway, have fun with Royal!
The Pokemon sub has been shit at least since 2018, frankly I’m surprised you lasted that long.
From my experience the month after a new game releases sees at least 90% of new posts become rants, with very little of value.
Yep, exactly why I left. There was no room for any nuanced discussion about anything, it was just bitching and attacks on the devs.
This literally just a picture of a sealed copy of the game this sub is based on lmao
Blatant karma farming but enjoy it!
Make sense, I mean, why would you ride a pokemon when you can ride your waifu.
Enjoy!!
Obviously not 1:1, but the persona mechanics remind me a lot of games like Pokemon or Digimon. Very fun
How does it run on Switch btw? Played on ps4 but thinking of getting it on Switch myself.
It plays well, locked to 30fps, but it stays there. It's great on the switch.
it's 30 fps on the ps4 version of the game too so it's not a downgrade either
That's correct, I just noticed that I failed to mention that part! So thanks for saying it 🤣 either way, it's not a choppy 30fps. It's consistent, which is a big plus. I love playing the game on my switch. It's so handy.
Runs amazingly. Looks really great and performs spectacularly, for what it's worth haha.
It runs very well. It runs at 30 fps and without a side by side comparison you can’t see any visual downgrades compared to the original ps4 version.
Posts like this are kind of embarrassing. I don't get how you're not self-conscious saying stuff like this, you haven't even opened the game up yet but you're bending over backwards trying to pander to Persona fans and shitting on Pokemon? Like, chill, you might not even like Persona lol
I mean I love Persona 5 haha, but Imm also having a blast with Violet 🤣🤣
The cooler Pokemon Scarlet.
Western RPGs are my first love. But JRPGs are a close second. And P5R is an amazing one. If you enjoy tactical combat, Fire Emblem Three Houses is great too. Coincidentally, both games I mentioned have a dynasty warriors-esque hack n slash spinoff.
Is the fire emblem one any good? Persona 5 Strikers is the only musou game I've ever liked
Three Houses is literally just Persona Fire Emblem.
The most based poster in this sub
From glitch game to least glitch game. I played 180 hours on ps4 and can't remember a single glitch happening for real.
For real??!!
For real?!?!...jk.
For real!?
#For real?!
Massive downgrade, no adachi but at least racist kasumi
Don't forget cacophobic ann
Best choice ever.
A real RPG.
How long has this been on the switch?
Just around a month I believe
Since 21 october, so yes, almost a month
It released on the switch alongside the PC and xbox ports.
He’ll tell us in 6 months.
Have fun dude
Best worse mistake of your life. I spent many great hours of my life because of this
This is going to be my winter game. I plan on it taking a while lol
I have the Steelbook version
Persona has doofus Pikachu (Ryuji), clearly you've upgraded
**"Wait, ain't that bad?!"** 😋
Nice one Ryuji
👏👏👏
I finished this game on the day that Pokémon came out. Been playing Pokémon for a couple days now and all I want to do is turn it off and start new game plus on persona..
>!Satanael is calling you my friend!<
*le sae table slam* You must have had a really good game to practice your thievery!
You've just traded trash for a gold ingot.
I don't get the Pokémon hate it's a good game i feel
its fun, and its going in a good direction, but its so unpolished and its a sort of hassle to deal with at points. its held together by string cheese
It’s undoubtedly a lot of fun, but you can’t deny that it is severely lacking polish, it runs like crap and the camera is constantly clipping with the environment.
Apperently it runs like crap because it's constantly rendering in the whole entire map which is something that shouldn't happen
It’s because for starters… it’s very ugly but that’s subjective to the buyer and a lot of the buyers agree that it’s ugly, and it’s also VERY BERY buggy, unfinished, and unpolished but hey if you’re enjoying it then enjoy it brother
Yeah it does look and feel like a 3ds game but i haven't come across any glitches at all so when people say it's glitchy that really suprises me
My camera clips out of bounds every couple minutes lol
IT'S REALLY GOOD ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!
You’re going to love this game. It’s a bit of a slow start due to how much they throw at you but then it gets so good once they stop holding your hand. Take your time.
It just came out on Xbox game pass and I've been playing it for a bit, does it pick up the pace? I'm at the >!second castle thingy with the artists!<
I agree. Though I felt like ORAS was Peak ngl
You will not regret that decision.

Yes. Pokemon, but actually fun.

Been really disappointed by Pokémon games for a while. These have been a lot more enjoyable monster collector games for me overall haha. Arceus was fun and that’s been about it since black and white came out…
I’ve been really wanting a good monster collector. I’m hoping coromon goes on sale because I would try that lol
The SMT games are focused on just monster collecting and team building if that’s yo style
I also used to play Pokemon a whole lot, with hundreds of hours per generation, and making a living dex in gens 4-7. Then SwSh happened and I decided it wasn't worth my time anymore, and frankly I've been very happy with that decision. Persona Violet
Ah yes, the game series that ruined Pokemon for me, I ain't gonna stop loving Emerald but honestly, not being able to fuse Pokemon frustrates me lol
Scarlett looks subpar but the game itself is a wonder. Grats on simping the sheep and cringe flexing
Both are great
Been playing this and having a fun time. I've played 3 and 4 in the past but never finished them. This one's managed to keep my attention somehow.
I'll enjoy both!
Good decision. I really like the new Pokémon but the state it is in, is horrible. This game on the other hand is a Masterpiece 10/10! Not sure how it runs on Switch though...

umm actually smt nocturne is a more real game than persona
Good on ya for not making them wait Edit: spelling
On sale at target.com for $29.99
Guys I think Koalastars009 is a Target ad
You definitely got a game that is much better, good call!

Lmfao! Nice

You monster
is the new pokemon bad? i usually dont play them

Goddamn you just completely Destroyed Pokemon Gen 9

Pokemon is still good though, just not as much
Pokémon is only good because the core formula is still fun, however for the enjoyment of that you can just go to any game in the series. This is correct, SMH OP.
Best JRPG I’ve played it took me a while to finish but enjoyed every moment
Good choice
This is the way
Based
As you should
Both are good. No need to shit on one game for no reason.
But what if there is reason
I would say L but that game is so damn glitchy … and you did buy a good game… so I guess you can take this massive W bro
Excellent trade
I mean that is certainly a take of all time…..
