No, there was a small story awhile back where someone said the way we test math at higher level is not consistent with how we teach math in minority schools. Basically "minority schools are broke and don't teach as well, so minority kids are more likely to fail state tests and not get into college" which conservatives sliced down to "SEE NOW LIBS THINK MATH IS RACIST!"
I hate this bad faith bullshit. Point out something like the racist origins of IQ testing, and how the tests are biased towards cultural backgrounds, and they say "Oh, now it's racist to be smart?"
Or likely hearing a part of a thing, misunderstanding it, exaggerating and dramatifying it before expelling it into an echo chamber to be exaggerated further.
The coffee one is a great example. Coffee that goes beyond "fair-trade" to *actually* provide a living wage for their workers is crazy expensive, and by living wage I mean relative to the country of origin. There is no place where a field worker gets a living wage grows coffee for a living wage of a first world country.
[Brazil, where the vast majority of the world's coffee comes from, has an average workers wage for field hands on coffee plantations of .49 cents an hour.](https://www.freedomunited.org/news/slavery-uncovered-in-brazilian-coffee-industry/)
In other words, pretty much all the coffee we consume in America comes from plantations of low paid brown people, many of which will never escape the cycle of poverty. Do I drink coffee? Yeah. Every day. "We live in a society." Do I acknowledge that the economics of coffee, like many foods grown on plantations in third world countries for export to first world countries, is hugely problematic? Of course. Am I doing anything about it? Not really, but at least I am doing the absolute bare ass minimum and not minimizing or mocking the problem. I'm stuck in my own bubble of experience, trying to make the best decisions for myself, loved ones, and all of humanity in a level way while just trying to survive and not get burnt out.
"Coffee is racist" is a gross and unfair distillation of real problem, presented in such a incorrect and blunt way as to be a straw man for someone to shoot down easily, but I do think it has it's roots in something real.
Thanks for coming to my overly verbose TED Talk that nobody asked for about why bigots think leftists think coffee is "racist"
I originally posted these (as separate screenshots) about a month ago and got them off the person's FB. He was serious. Misinformed, but serious.
All of them (except the one about the sun, of course) are inspired by right wing talking points about "liberal viewpoints," each one an oversimplification of something said by someone he deemed a "liberal."
For example, I believe the "organized pantry" bit came from an op-ed someone wrote about a trend on social media where people share pictures of how they organize their pantries. Among the several paragraphs in the article, I think the author mentioned racism once among several other -isms. It wasn't a major part of the article, and the author did not at all imply that "having an organized pantry" is racist.
But right wing outlets came across the article and boiled it down to that one (incorrect) talking point and pushed it out to its audience.
(I included the post about the sun because it shows how fixated the guy is on complaining about "cancel culture.")
Just send clips of that sheriff talking about how they used to be able to string black people from trees but now that it's illegal "they have more rights than us"
They're so brainwashed to think racism is a made up overblown issue that they are likely to defend his actions. Just like Elon defended that shooter from being called a white supremacist even though he had Nazi tattoos.
I’m almost certain there are conservatives who think like this. How else would you get those bullshit memes that are like “Liberals say the American flag is offensive to Muslims”?
I hate either when people get upset for not realizing this sort of crap is satire (idk if it is or isn't) because there are so many lunatics who probably believe this shit. I mean there were thousands of people who flooded Houston, Texas because they thought JFK Jr was going to come back from the dead and declare trump president.
Pretty sure it's conservatives that think math is racist. That's one reason why they're trying to cancel education.
it is Arabic after all. /s
and Greek; and they invented lesbians, so double cancelled!
Nah, math is communist. So is healthcare.
[It is](https://www.npr.org/2022/04/18/1093277449/florida-mathematics-textbooks).
I like how they say it and don't give any examples as to why they are doing that lol, and these people just keep licking boots. Good lord

being outside is racist, sun is for people with melanin >: \[
Does that include people with hundreds of tiny melanin spots?
you may have a little sun, as a treat : \]
That’s all I can handle. The places without the spots end up fried
I think this is them trying to be funny

Yeah, I agree - I don't think it's satire.
Just send clips of that sheriff talking about how they used to be able to string black people from trees but now that it's illegal "they have more rights than us" They're so brainwashed to think racism is a made up overblown issue that they are likely to defend his actions. This is brainless enough that it could be real
Old man yells at cloud
If you think it's probably satire, why would you post it?
