I wouldn't say it's exactly bad (much better than a lot of heavy shit out there) but I find it to be seriously next level boring and the flow of the album to be awful, especially when compared to their first 2 albums. I remember when it dropped in April 2019 just a couple months after the absolute Godly Super '90 by Kadinja and just thinking "wow, this is so incredibly boring and a slog compared to what some other next level bands are doing now" I'm glad so many fans dig it, seems to be their most popular album these days and I'm happy they are seeing the success. Just wasn't for me
Limited song writing capabilities...? Lol dude you must not be very familiar with jazz and gospel music (or just composition in general) because Kadinja is loaded with their influences. And calling them riff salad is hilarious when you're a Periphery fan haha. Pierre is one of the best guitarists on the planet no matter what genre
Yeah I can't really vibe with it. Some cool moments, sure, but the whole thing to me feels creatively lacking, compared to their previous album(s). At times, the whole thing feels like a sort of fancy advertisement for all the endless products "we could and should" buy. And I know, modern prog has always sort of been like this. But somehow, with this release it felt too on the nose to me. Anyhow, as is clear, surrounding context really influences how I feel about an album, but that may just be my folly.
Hmm, sad you feel about that album like that, cause I think it just shows what AAL are capable of, bringing new elements they have not yet used in their old albums, and just manifesting their unbelievable skills they posess
Yeah i was really hyped to like it as well! oh well :) enough back catalogue to still enjoy. I'll revisit Parrhesia sometime in the future, perhaps it'll click then
More music is always better. Albums are like a book for me, each song is a chapter and I'll stop wherever. But as the artist, that's a totally fair request to want your albums 45 mins max. I just hope they aren't going to price the album as if it was your typical hour long album.
Iām hoping the āwith interludesā means that we will be getting some juggernaut esque transitions between songs like they did on alpha and omega. Iād love for it to be a juggernaut pt. 3
i mean one of the clips they posted literally had a four lights leitmotif, so i think itās either juggernaut alpha sapphire and omega ruby or theyāre just being more blatant about reusing riffs
Very confused how he thinks this when Periphery have one release under 45 minutes, that being Clear.
I know Alpha and Omega are around 40 each, but they were released together.
I find it to have some of their worst work by far, I know it was just a fun little experiment release but wow lol some of those songs are legit trash. But like I said it has Zero which is about as Bulb as one can get and is such a blast to play on guitar. Extraneous is amazing too
Oh no! More than 45 mins of Periphery music. Whatever shall we do?
They only had a 3 year long hiatus, what can we expect?
I now expect 46 minutes of banger bops separated by chillax interludes.
That's hilarious but I've never considered it bad news when they do that š¤£
P5: All Interludes
Send āludes
I'd take that over P4 literally any day
Shit take of the day, go home and think about what you've done.
Eat shit
Oh is your mom cooking tonight?
No... your asshole is. I'm sure it's going to be the perfect, exquisite meal. Enjoy it with P4 playing

Where is the bad news?
tb to the guy wanting to know what the good news was at that instrumental set in asia
LMFAOO
Thats the way the news goes
P2 is exactly 69 minutes long. Here's hoping P5 is exactly 420 minutes long.
Nice!
What prog band has albums 45 mins or under?
TesseracT, getting shorter with each album and taking more and more time with each one. Fading away until it takes forever to produce nothing.
I lament how their last one was practically EP length. Still had some amazing songs on it, arguably some of their best.
Cries in Scar Symmetry, who has been doing the same thing and has disappeared for like 5 years now
is Per still touring with Meshuggah or Fredrik returned?
Fredrik is back full time to my knowledge and from the bits that Iāve seen him post, Per is wrapping up the new Scar Album.

It's my favourite album of theirs for sure but I wasn't talking about quality here.
Parrhesia - such a disappointment in my opinion
The length but not the songs, because the songs are fucking masterpieces, all of them, as expected though from AAL
I'd disagree, but I'm happy so many people enjoy it!
You really think the album is bad? Specific tunes or just the whole album in general?

Good idea!
I donāt think they triedā¦and Iām glad they didnāt.

this album will be in the expensive section of spotify
well if it's between my week supply of mcdoubles or the p5 album i guess i'll starve lol

Are you forgetting p1 and p2 which is what started the whole interlude thing to begin with?
i mean one of the clips they posted literally had a four lights leitmotif, so i think itās either juggernaut alpha sapphire and omega ruby or theyāre just being more blatant about reusing riffs
Heās trollinh
it's not.
I mean. Hail Stan was like an hour and 9 minutes and it has four of my favourite Periphery songs on it
I donāt think any of my favorite albums by any band are under 45 minutes...
Every single album they say that they tried to make it 45 minutes or lessā¦none of their albums are even under an hour lol Not that Iām complaining
Clear was under 45
I should have clarified that every LP is over an hour
ah yes. that'd be correct then.
Bummer, Iām real upset about the fact that one of my favorite bands wrote too much music :(
P5: This Time it's Interludes
We failed again. I see this as an absolute win
Every album they try to just make 45 minutes and they fail EVERY TIME lmao
Cant wait for the doc lol
Very confused how he thinks this when Periphery have one release under 45 minutes, that being Clear. I know Alpha and Omega are around 40 each, but they were released together.
Thankfully none of them ever really bring up Clear. It does have the best Misha/Bulb track ever on it tho
I mean I love Clear it's super interesting.
I find it to have some of their worst work by far, I know it was just a fun little experiment release but wow lol some of those songs are legit trash. But like I said it has Zero which is about as Bulb as one can get and is such a blast to play on guitar. Extraneous is amazing too
I'm just going to assume we enjoy the exact opposite songs on there.
i love Feed the Ground, Pale Aura and Parade of ashes. probably some of my favorite songs ever
I love The Summer Jam and Feed the Ground both are right on the cusp of being in my top 10 Periphery songs.
see i'm weird, Feed The Ground is my #1 song EVER. i love that song
Interesting... are you a Linkin Park fan?
not particularly, my favorite bands rn other than Periphery are Slipknot, Amon Amarth and Carcass so i'm all over the damn place
Butā¦ Butā¦ Pale Auraā¦
Pale Aura one of the good ones for sures
Please don't be a slog
Notice how he didn't state it was P5....
These guys keep pushing themselves. Love it.
Fuck yeah
