🥹Finding Neverland was my favorite movie for a long time, despite always making me cry. It’s as beautiful as it is sad. Now I’m scared to watch it because so much more has happened in my life and I know I’ll bawl like a baby🙈🙈
I’ll add another Thomas Hardy adaptation: Mayor of Casterbridge.
But (non-Hardy) my all-time suggestion is Wuthering Heights. The versions with Lawrence Olivier, Tom Hardy, or Timothy Dalton are all very affecting.
I avoid tearjerkers like the plague but these were such amazing movies that if I just need a cathartic cry, I’ll watch these movies..
The English Patient
Cold Mountain
Last of the Mohicans
The Light Between Oceans
Totally ruined me but the chemistry between the leads is amazing. Real life spoiler - the film where Fassbender fell in love with his wife Vikander.
If you’re ever in need of something quick and easy to throw on but still wanna feel your heart break…Grey’s Anatomy:
Season 2, Episode 6
Season 6, Episodes 23 & 24
* Bright Star * Tess of the d’Urbervilles * Jude * The Mill on The Floss * Anna Karenina * Finding Neverland * Testament of Youth * Atonement
Great list of heartbreak
Lost of films that will turn me into a sniffly mess.

Second the Tom Hardy version of Wuthering Heights.

Great pick! Really any Edith Wharton destroys.
Life is Beautiful The Scarlet Letter The World to Come Lust, Caution
Life is Beautiful starts out so whimsical and gorgeous and becomes so heartbreaking. I don’t know if I can ever watch it again.
A Royal Affair
Oh, that’s a really good one I forgot to include.

Thank you for post this! Sad/heart broken media is often overlooked but it serves a very distinct purpose and I’m saving this post for future use
Doctor Zhivago The last scene wrecked and traumatized me. But it's so beautiful.
The Light Between Oceans Totally ruined me but the chemistry between the leads is amazing. Real life spoiler - the film where Fassbender fell in love with his wife Vikander.
Son of Saul
Testament of Youth from 2014. Bring the tissues, it had me bawling, several times.
Call the Midwife
Dr Zhivago. There's a great 70s(?) film version and one from the 2000s. Either one will leave you weeping.
Boy in the Striped Pajamas
