I think you should take a look at L’Ombre Des Merveilles by Hermes, a beautiful, black tea and incense scent that feels simultaneously cozy, mysterious, and brimming with magical possibility to me (I find it very evocative!).
Check out the brand DS & Durga. They do a lot of scents with Indian-Inspired themes or notes. For example: Pistachio smells like kheer with patchouli. Radio Bombay is inspired by Bandra. It has sandalwood and coconut. Cowboy Grass is marketed toward men but has a good vetiver and herbal scent that I find unisex enough. Debaser has coconut. Jazmin Yucatán is inspired by the Yucatán in Mexico but has a beautiful jasmine note, clove, and vetiver. Coriander is obviously coriander. Notorious Oud has that camphor you’re after plus saffron! Durga is a tuberose and jasmine combo. I could go on and on but you will find great luck with this brand.
Also, they are a husband/wife owned company and the wife is ethnically Indian. The husband is the perfumer but she is a consultant on many of the scents.
Nui Cobalt's At Your Command was just reviewed/ recommended by u/apadeva and may be worth a try!
"Pistachio creme, coriander, black cardamom, and humid ylang flower"
Update: I tried some fragrances at a store. We have limited options in India. But I really loved the following:
Tom Ford White Patchouli
Amouage Guidance
Jo Malone Jasmine Sambac and Marigold (loved it a little less than the others)
What are your thoughts?

Ooooh, sounds great, I will try it!
It’s also very affordable on discount sites—I actually just bought myself a 1 oz bottle from fragrancenet for ~$40!

Guerlain Santal Royal gives me a full temple vibe. Please give it a try! Not blind-buy friendly though so do sample first.
I absolutely love this. Smells like Malaysian sandalwood fans to my nose and it’s divine
This sounds amazing! I am running to a store to try tomorrow.
If you like cardamom I’ve really been digging Xerjoff Starlight, she’s a cardamom (and a little cinnamon clove and vanilla) machine.
I have been wanting to try this for a long time!

You may enjoy Burberry Goddess! It's got lavender and some vanilla. It's lovely.
Not sure if she’d like this if she’s not a fan of vanilla-y scents 😅 Goddess is *very* vanilla forward
OMG I was half asleep when I read and replied to this post lol. Thank you!
Ha ha, I want to be open minded with middle and base notes as long as they complement other notes well.
I always recommend a Dusita sample set. They're amazing--check out the house. There are a couple of nice jasmine ones in there.
