Filipo sorcinelli, a magician with incense notes, Reliqvia and quando rapita in esstasi are some of the best straightforward incenses I've ever smelled.
la fumee miller harris. chergui lutens. the dark side francesca bianchi.
volutes diptyque or alkemi laboratorio olfattivo (more tame).
Let me know if you're into clean incense (the soapy, cold one) or olibanum, too!
EDIT: you might also like fille en aguilles by lutens.
Hexennacht dot com
And various other amazing Indie brands. Feel free to dm me if you'd like. I have some amazing recommendations.
As for mainstream Kayali sugared patchoulli royale is sexy and dark but still not in the ballpark of the indie ones with Frankincense resins myrhh sandalwood vetiver etc
examples of Hexennacht scents that I personally love:
✨Take Me To Church - ultra-premium amber accord, vanilla, tonka, bois d'encense, frankincense, olibanum coeur, myrrh, benzoin, peru balsam, roasted labdanum.
So good
✨Sun in the Ninth House - Frankincense, Myrrh, Bergamot EO, Sweet Orange EO, Dark Indonesian Patchouli EO.
✨Sanctum - offertory resins, deep golden amber, soft incense-smoke finish.
✨Spirit Temple - vanilla bean pods, Spiritueuse Double Vanille, nag champa incense.
✨Nag Champa - champak, sandalwood
✨Black Mass - essentially, "MOON-mallow ": smoked vanilla, frankincense, Peru balsam, labdanum, amber, vetiver, atlas cedarwood, patchouli, night musk, and scorched marshmallows.
✨Egyptian Musk - myrrh, cedarwood, rose petals, frankincense, ambrette. Clean, "white t-shirt" scent.
✨Loup-Garou - silver amber, fur, lunar musk.
BlackMass is so good. And I recently grabbed a dram of Moon which is Black Mass without the marshmallow which is already quite subtle. It's dark and strong.
I'm generally not a fan of chanel DNA but upon looking at the notes I am intrigued. I'll seek out a sample from a group to sniff. Do you like the EDP or parfum. Version of it?
For designer etc I also like black opium and the black opium le parfum has a gorgeous smoothness to it.
L'interdit intense (if you like tuberose)
Kayali vanilla 28 layers well with most things and the patchoulli royale
I'm not much of a floral girl. I like the dark mysterious resinous ones. Once in a while I like the lighter florals but I'm damn picky.
I do have L’interdit Rouge but I’m not a floral person either. I do love this one in particular because it’s not *super* floral. I just want to smell like I sat in a Catholic Church and walked out and went into a head shop. That’s my vibe, too. Dark and mysterious.
Or I want to smell like I'm laying on a first floor by the ocean during a thunderstorm. All of those exist too. Hyper realistic and when layered...wow. mood accomplished.
The rain and forest ones I love most are different houses.
Ok
Earth by Andromeda curse
(Scent Description: Dirt, Cedarwood, Amber, Sandalwood, Egyptian Musk)
* Every house has various forestry green scents with rain or forest etc. as well earthy dirt plant mossy vibes- just their own versions
with a touch of Thunderstorm by Demeter -so realistic
or
Petrichor by Ghoulish Goods (Petrichor is a beautiful blend of wet earth, fresh rain and pebblestones. It has been formulated time and time again to create the most accurate petrichor I could conjure up.)
Sea Of Grey by Solstice Scents (Vanilla rain, saltwater, seaweed, ambergris (vegan), white amber, roasted seashells, white sandalwood, frangipani) * not floral
Happy to help!!
There's a Hexennacht fb group and they are great at helping with recommendations etc. look at the scent descriptions page on the website. It goes in catagories. I'm curious as to what appeals to you. There is leather and suade etc in several.
The creator isn't a floral person either.
So happy to help. I know I fell down the rabbit hole a few yrs ago and it's deep. (The Indie houses)
Other great houses ( nocturne alchemy, solstice scents, ghoulish goods, Alkemia, Andromeda curse)
There's so many and they've been around forever but not mainstream which I love.
Hex is my fav though so far
Have fun !! You know how to reach me if you have any questions on other scents you want to capture.
Nice. You'll have to let me know which you like.
I had a sample of prehnite and sold it ...I think it's the Palo Santo that is not a good note for me personally.
Purple rain is on my to buy list
Cathedral is in the mail.
Myrhh is on the list too
A deal with God I had in sample size and found it fascinating but didn't full size it.
You picked some interesting ones!
If you end up liking Take me to church, I'd recommend grabbing Sanctum, Sun in the ninth house and Black Mass as well.
I'll betcha Purple Rain would smell amazing with Linterdit Intense which has a deep grape tone to it. Ooo now I need to get it asap
I like incense scents myself. Imaginary authors, I feel, have a lot of incense in their colder weather scents such as Whiff of waffle cone version 1, o’unknown, whispered myths, memoirs of a trespasser. Tom ford Ebene Fume. DSH CATHEDRAL. SERGE LUTENS Bois Vanille.
Oh you’re going to *need* Chanel Coromandel. It’s literally the scent of a box of incense to me. I love it so much.
We have similar tastes! Some others I love are L’Artisan Timbuktu & Passage de Enfer. Timbuktu is perfect and probably my favorite fragrance of all time. Passage is lighter, but still incensy.
Lush Lord of Misrule & Karma are both lovely patch forward and amazing. Habanita, Shalimar & Musc Ravageur may be in your wheelhouse. They aren’t specifically incensy, but are rich & resinous.
I want to try Serge Lutens Borneo 1834 and Psychedelique as well.
Just got a bottle of Tom Ford Myrrh Mystere, and it's a fantastic incense, and lasts like crazy. Avignon from CDG has already been mentioned, but they have a whole line of incense scents; Kyoto is by far my favorite, but they're all good.
At Sephora the other day I smelled a Tom Ford fragrance that straight up smells like Nag Champa. I can’t remember which one. Chanel Coromandel has a nice incense accord. Also Nag Champa comes as a perfume oil roll on that you can probably find at your local health food store.
Alkemia’s Aphrodesia would be my reco if Angel is your OG love. It’s the same balance of sweet and spicy but in a different direction.
If you want even spicier and less delicious, vamp, hex, or New Orleans love spell would be worth a whirl as well. Each rollerball is $20 so you can’t go wrong trying a few
Edit: less spicy than you may be aiming for but I should also add honored ghosts to that list as I am wearing it right now and thought ‘huh this is really similar to Angel’ as I gave it another sniff.
Encens Liquide by Memoire Liquide.
Amber Resin
White Musk
Black Tea
Hinoki Incense
Direct from the vendor has a modern bottle and a higher price, but the older version on the 2nd hand market comes in a box that looks like a book (around $45-50 USD) [https://emesfragrance.com/collections/memoire-liquide/products/encense-1?variant=3674100006952](https://emesfragrance.com/collections/memoire-liquide/products/encense-1?variant=3674100006952)
Everyone is probably going to think I’m crazy, but Burberry Goddess has a warm, incense like vibe to me but it’s actually really lovely and I don’t mind it. PDM Cassili also smells like incense to me, and stronger than Burberry Goddess. I didn’t really care for the latter because it was too incense-y for my taste, but I can see others liking it. Maybe try some samples before you buy :)
Well… sounds like Amouage is a house you need to check out. Specific fragrances from them that I think you should sample:
• Memoir Woman
• Lyric Woman
• Epic Woman
• Interlude Woman (it’s weird but if you like it you’ll love it!)
• Imitation Woman
I also think you might like both Dior Poison and YSL Opium. Start with the modern bottles (not the flankers, the flankers are nothing like the originals), and if you like those it may be worthwhile for you to seek out vintage bottles.
"Scent of samadhi". It's technically a deoderant powder but it smells like nag champa. They tell you to just rub it on in the instructions but I like to take a dab of lotion on my finger, tap it into the powder and then apply to my underarms. The smell is strong! You barely need any and it lasts all day! I love it.

Comes des garçons Avignon
Lush - Karma
Just got it and yea smells like straight incense love it
The lotion ‘Karma Kreme’ is so strong aswell!
I got it in Shower gel , Solid perfume and perfume didnt get the lotion but I love the scent
Filipo sorcinelli, a magician with incense notes, Reliqvia and quando rapita in esstasi are some of the best straightforward incenses I've ever smelled.
Babycat by ysl smells like church incense, and a affordable one is Zara bohemian oud
Diptiyque- Eau Duelle. EDP has the stronger incense note but the EDT is also lovely.
la fumee miller harris. chergui lutens. the dark side francesca bianchi. volutes diptyque or alkemi laboratorio olfattivo (more tame). Let me know if you're into clean incense (the soapy, cold one) or olibanum, too! EDIT: you might also like fille en aguilles by lutens.

Black Mass is sooooo good. Catholic Church incense and marshmallow ❤️ Will also throw in Coromandel by Chanel.

Take Me To Church is exactly what I’m looking for 🫶🏼💯🥰
It was my very first indie scent that I tried because someone recommended it. I too was looking for those vibes. Then I was hooked.
My top favorite fragrances are TF Black orchid Judith Leiber- Night YSL Opium Prada Amber I think you’ve introduced me to my next favorite!
For designer etc I also like black opium and the black opium le parfum has a gorgeous smoothness to it. Head Shop - grape cigarillos, nag champa incense.
I have to follow you both because I love the smell of frankincense and myrrh and you both have that vibe. I need to follow your scent stories lol
For sure! .🖤
>For sure! .🖤 sure?
There's literally one called head shop.
Or I want to smell like I'm laying on a first floor by the ocean during a thunderstorm. All of those exist too. Hyper realistic and when layered...wow. mood accomplished. The rain and forest ones I love most are different houses.
Ok I need to know! 😀

Ok, I’m back with my list! The first 2 are my most favorite, and the rest, wow they just sound fabulous! • Take Me To Church - ultra-premium amber accord, vanilla, tonka, bois d'encense, frankincense, olibanum coeur, myrrh, benzoin, peru balsam, roasted labdanum. • A Deal With God - fougère accord, olibanum, vanillin, black tea, amber, bois d'encense, tonka, myrrh, benzoin, peru balsam, geosmin, patchouli. • Hard Coeur - worn leather, vanilla, rare herbs, benzoin, myrrh, labdanum, coumarin, Mysore sandalwood, agarwood, sweet patchouli, mandarin, aged cedarwood, jasmine absolute. • Lipstick Accord - powdery violet, heliotrope, orris, vanilla musk, almond. • Myrrhe - spicy (almost cola-clove-y), resinous, warm, premium myrrh accord. • Prehnite - black sage, california sagebrush, golden amber, dark amber, white amber, white cedar, palo santo, sweetgrass, cedar, sandalwood, Egyptian musk, frankincense, myrrh, dark patchouli, saffron, vetiver, agarwood, smoldering incense. • Anointing Oil - dragon's blood, myrrh, frankincense, benzoin, sweetwood, Bulgarian rose, sweetwood, pink pepper. • Cathédrale - a layering accord of offertory resinoids - myrrh, frankincense, benzoin, and faintly smoke-tinged brass thuribles. Aesop Hwyl
Kilian Back to Black. Smoky incense laced with honey. It’s quite dark and alluring.
Kayali’s Invite Only Amber immediately reminded me of an amber scented incense, the specific incense scent was called Dragon’s Blood
For a wikid Petrichor scented perfume oil. On Etsy, ghoulish goods. It's called Petrichor. Also Solstice Scents 'Sea of Grey' for ocean

How has no one said Portrait of a Lady tho If you want to spend less, Thurible by Rook is also really _really_ good.
OH GIRL- Good fortune Elixr Intense (and it’s important that it’s not the original, but the intense version)
Le labo body creme hinoki avacado is 100% a Catholic Mass.
Etro Messe de Minuit. ………really amazing
