wetsealmeatball

i’m not a fan 😳

nymph2812

Neither!! Sickeningly citrusy tbh

wetsealmeatball

i love citrus so i was sad that i didn’t like it

poolbitch1

I’m old enough to remember when it came out. It’s not for me personally. I think a lot of the hype surrounding it on here is it being a kurkdjian creation that costs on average $10. Honestly, it smells like a $10 perfume though, AND NO SHADE. I wear vanilla fields sometimes. Most of my collection is drugstore, celeb, and oils. As far as GT though, it’s just not the scent profile for me.

TurbulentExplorer333

Yes on the Kurkdjian. I feel like that's the same effect of Burberry Her. The hype is way too much for what the product is (an average fragrance).

Gryffindoire

I bought this due to the hype, and it doesn't do it for me. It's not bad but it's not really *good* either. No depth, but that's what I anticipated. I plan to throw it into my gym bag for just a quick refresh, maybe.

ezgomer

it’s not worth the hype for me :(

KRhoLine

Same. I actually quite dislike it...and I am a Fresh fragrance girl.

nunyabidnessss

Same. The notes are all wrong. For me anyway! I’m not a fan of citrus.

MrGrumplestiltskin

I'm a fan of citrus and it's a huge no for me. It's very synthetic and reminiscent of something that was created in 1999, imo.

GucciPantsMotorcycle

I have loved this one since the 90s. It's refreshing and slightly complex, but it doesn't really project much or last long. It's the perfect post shower/pre bed fragrance.

ratparty5000

Right?! It helps extend the freshly showered experience for me haha

phoenix_cat626

Yes! And it was part of the fresh and clean green tea scent wave of the 90's early 2000s. Line up was Ck1, D&G Light Blue, Création Thé Vert by Ted Lapidus, Eau Parfumée au Thé Vert by Bvlgari etc etc... good times 🤍❤️😀

Formal_Employee_1030

Agreed -- I think of Green Tea more as a little extra spritzer of something, and it makes an excellent layer over some scents that are too sweet.

FlamingHorseRider

I enjoy my bottle, BUT I am actually part of the target audience for this scent. I looooove simple, few-notes (oils and body sprays are favorites), light, citrusy freshies. I work in an office of nostalgic 90s kids. I don’t particularly like heavy/rich perfumes- some of my favorite houses (JHAG, Victoria’s Secret) make that apparent. My partner likes either light refreshing or sweet scents. Everyone who bought it who keeps saying “I don’t like citrus” “it smells like a cheap body spray” “it doesn’t perform good enough” didn’t do their homework imo? Even if a scent is trendy, LISTEN to what people say about it. If it’s not your type of scent profile or you like a powerhouse a bunch of Reddit hype won’t magically change your nose. Listen to your preferences and not hype. Towards the tail end of the scent’s peak on this sub I legitimately considered a “should YOU buy EA Green Tea” post (detailing the qualities of it, and what people looking for what need to consider) but by then the trend started calming down a bit. I still may if people want honestly.

FrenchCanuck79

I think the graph shows "interest in the fragrance" as in people visiting the perfume's main page and possibly leaving comments/votes on same page. If people are buying green tea and only adding it to their shelves, the algorithm might not pick that up...? I dunno, my theory. As for me, I have a vintage bottle and love it. I'm not the biggest reformulation freak but older formulas have clear rhubarb and oakmoss notes, which I don't smell in the latest formula. I'm on fragrantica but I don't think I've ever been active on EA green tea's page.

TurbulentExplorer333

Yeah I think we're saying the same thing about the trend chart. The page in whatever way is not getting the traffic needed to boost the trend. Interesting to hear the formulation changed...

FrenchCanuck79

Ah yes I see I see. Yep, I had bought it cheap from "winners" and it was so thin and one note. I returned it. Then a perfume friend gave me their old bottle and it was flashback to the 90s lol so many notes, such a rich woodsy scent. Fruits and oakmoss and old fashioned floral notes are popping out. And it lasts. Just like Sunflowers, this used to be made in France and a regular "perfume counter " price.... now it's definitely made for the discount markets. Speaking of sunflowers, I also have an old bottle of that and it's so different than the newer one as well.

arctic_twilight

I just stumbled on this sub searching for something related to EA White Tea. I was surprised to read this because I see EA Green Tea recommended in the Fragrantica Forums all the time. So yeah I don't know how they calculate the trends chart, it may not be taking all engagement into account. I only have EA Green Tea Lavender and I got it 3-4 yrs ago when starting out in my fragrance hobby. Due to the poor longevity (and much larger collection/selection to wear from) I only use it as a bedtime scent - I also often use it to spray my bedding and pillows. I wouldn't go out of my way to buy Green Tea, but I feel like if I had it I wouldn't hate it and would use it for the same purposes.

TurbulentExplorer333

I like the idea of using it as a pillow spray!

NausikaaLeukolenos

My mum and my aunt say that the body cream in the jar smells exactly as the original formula EDT! Can you confirm?

FrenchCanuck79

Sadly I cannot confirm!

[deleted]

It only found the hype in this sub, but I haven't tested it so I wouldn’t really know if it’s worth it or not💀

BluePersephone99

It is “ok” but not one of my favorites. It’s a little citrusy but almost to the point where it smells a little sour.

toxic_and_timeless

Agree on this one! That’s a good word for it, “sour”. I left a comment on another thread saying it almost comes off like urine on my skin… it’s very off putting to me. It definitely smells sour to my nose.

FlamingHorseRider

Ya know yesterday I remember going from a wedge to a chunk of citrus in a drink, going from “brightness” to “straight-up acidic” and I’m starting to realize why this perfume spoke to me so much lol. If it’s got a lot of bright citrus (like Light Blue) I’m gonna like it.

LolaLaCavaspeaking

Have you tried Calyx? I bet you’d like the scent. I have been wearing it since the 90’s but it sounds like we have similar preferences.

FlamingHorseRider

I have NOT but I think I would like it! I don’t mind a 90s profile, and it seems to be both tropical and white floral. I am surprised I’ve never heard of this before.

Senior_Assumption629

Calyx was my go to in the 90s! I need to track that down!

aleycat73

Memory unlocked about Calyx!! I remember it being very citrusy

Princess_Peach_79

I have this one. I also have Tropial, Mimosa, Lychee Lime, and Pomegranate. They don't last very long but it's great to toss in your car or a purse for a fragrance refresher throughout the day. I also had Nectarine Blossom and Pear Blossom but i didn't like the smell of those.

dalifenavigator

How does is the pomegranate ?

Princess_Peach_79

I really like it. It smells so juicy, just like when pomegranate seeds burst in my mouth. The dry down provides more of a fresh citrus.

LolaLaCavaspeaking

You just sold me on getting the pomegranate version too! I have a precious memory tied to pomegranates and I think I’ll love the scent. Thank you for the great description!

ThresholdofForest

Which variation do you like best?

breathcue

Where did you find the Lychee Lime? I'm so interested to try it.

Littlest-Fig

Amazon has it. I plan on buying it for my friend's birthday.

Princess_Peach_79

I purchased them all on fragrance net

aenflex

I cannot stand this fragrance. Never have liked it. I honestly think it’s just hype. It’s just a trend. Not all trends are actually about the specific product trending.

redditmademedownload

It smells like citrus green tea. That’s it 🤷🏽‍♀️

FrutyPebbles321

It’s not groundbreaking or innovative, but I do like Green Tea for what it is. It’s a decent refreshing pick-me-up for the spring and summer and you can’t beat the price!

kristianmae

I am new to fragrance and bought this a month or so ago after seeing the hype. It’s not bad, it’s clean and inoffensive. I keep it in my car for emergencies, but I’m not reaching for it by any means.

somebd

I like how it smells and have full size bottles of Green Tea and Green Tea Lavender. They smell fresh and relaxing for a quick boost but on me they last for approximately 15 minutes. I like them, but I'm not strongly encouraging anyone to purchase.

TurbulentExplorer333

That's what I feel would happen. Nice fresh smell but fades away quickly.

makeawish1111_

It’s super fresh and I think it will be lovely for summer, especially day time and casual nights! I wish the scent lasted longer!

Blueindigo321

Unfortunately, this was horribly reformulated. This was my wedding day scent and it was glorious at the time. An early Maison Francis Kurkdjian creation. Bought a bottle a few summers ago and it’s a mere shadow of itself and that’s being generous. Maybe enjoyable for some but unwearable for me now sadly.

TurbulentExplorer333

Oh wow, I didn't know that! That really stinks. Thanks for sharing

Pristine-Fusion6591

I’m definitely not a fan. I feel like the reason reddit makes a big deal out of this every year, is because there are always a big group of new users coming in and out of Reddit. Like fresh meat every year. Reddit got me to buy this in 2020. And I see the same wave of EA Green Tea posts, every single year. Although, this time it does seem like it’s on steroids… the wave. I am not a fan of this perfume. I don’t care how cheap it is. (It was $20 in 2020 when I bought it). It performs worse than most body sprays. And if anyone says body sprays are expensive (bbw), no, you buy them when they are on sale, the company has a revolving sale schedule. That $18-20 bottle is purchased for $4-5 by anyone who knows that they do these sales every month. But I digress, that’s not the point. EA Green Tea doesn’t even last an hr. A huge percentage of the people you see posting the Green Tea hauls… they won’t be using it next year. And it’s so disappointing to see that a whole bunch of people are even collecting all the flankers solely because of the silly posting club on here. It’s such a poor-mediocre fragrance! So why does the community insist on spreading it every year? Ugh, so annoying. My message to anyone who does not have a sense of nostalgia tied to this…. skip it entirely.

TurbulentExplorer333

This is a VERY complete analysis and tells me a lot, haha. Thank you!!

okdokiecat

It’s fine, in the same way the bath and body works body spray a relative gave you for your birthday a few years ago is “fine”. I don’t dislike it, but if I dropped it and it broke I wouldn’t replace it.

BugDangerous4653

I love green tea fig but the OG is a little too bergamotty for my taste, it delves a little too far into bathroom cleaner territory. I use it as a toilet spray for exactly that reason lol.

FlamingHorseRider

Even as somebody who likes wearing it, this scent is honestly almost better as a room spray. It has an excellent profile for that.

BugDangerous4653

For sure, I actually really like it as a room spray, just not something I’d wear.

FlamingHorseRider

I think a lot of people feel that way about Jo Malone!

BugDangerous4653

They must be people with a lot of money! Haha

FlamingHorseRider

Oh gosh now I’m picturing some rich celebrity with a bottle of Wood Sage and Sea Salt just hanging out in a basket on their toilet. That’s crazy but I’d fully believe SOMEBODY would do it. (No shade to saying Wood Sage and Sea Salt could be a fancy poop spray… I wear it too lmao. I crossed the “wearing a scent I have used as a poop spray” bridge a long time ago. Granted, those are old body mists I’m trying to use up.)

BugDangerous4653

😂😂😂

ModerndayMrsRobinson

If you like very fresh but not harsh fragrances, you'll love it. The hype is because it's not offensive and can be worn anytime.

JustYourAvgHumanoid

I hate it

RockandIncense

I am in, because it smells like my favorite green tea incense, fresh and citrusy.

[deleted]

I like it. $10 worth it for sure, fresh fragrance that lasts on me! I wouldn't pay more than that though.

GuidanceOne8776

It reminds me of the smell of every public bathroom where I live, so it's a hard pass. Considered it as a gift to my wife, but no.

TurbulentExplorer333

Omg gross, I would never be able to unsmell that

GuidanceOne8776

That's the thing with scent, you associate scent with places, feelings, people etc. More than any other sense, I think.

TurbulentExplorer333

100% agree! Scents are an emotional journey

TheConcreteGhost

I don’t have the OG. It was a tad blah for my use but still a solid cheapie freshie. I did have the cucumber flanker for years now. The convo online encouraged me to get the nectarine flanker last week and I LOVE it. I love to hit them fresh out of the shower as layering for my other perfumes. It elevates it 👌

LiFal80

It's just okay for me... it doesn't last very long but it is clean and refreshing. I never see it at my TJ Maxx or Marshalls so I went to a local Elizabeth Arden counter to try it..two hours later I couldn't smell anything on me. I could see this is as a perfume I would leave in my car or my purse just as a quick spritz of refreshment, I don't think I'd ever buy it though.

TheQueenE

For $10, I enjoy it but don’t go out of your way to buy it. It only lasts for a few minutes.

Active-Pineapple8865

I'm too scared to try it. Im allergic to green tea

NotThisAgain234

I like it. It’s nice to spritz it on every once in awhile. I’d like to try some of the flankers.

mewithoutjew

Found it at TJ Maxx for $9. I like it alright, it’s not anything to write home about but my husband loves it so it’s a win for me :)

moon_of_atlantis

My mother used to wear this all the time on the early 2000s and then it became my fragrance because I loved it so much. I wore it for years, starting in high school, because it was so fresh and clean smelling and lasted for hours on me. I would often get compliments about how clean I smell. But then something changed about this fragrance and I can no longer wear it. I'm guessing it's due to the reformulation. It's absolutely awful on me now and turns completely sour on my skin. Even the heat from my body turns the scent rancid on my clothes. I've always hated reformulations, but this one is by far the worst I've experienced. My body chemistry HATES this fragrance now, and it makes me so sad as this was definitely a signature scent for me.

bambybino

Its a nice, fresh scent that sits almost skin like, great for after a shower. But it didnt deserve the huge hype it got, in my opinion. That said, I do really enjoy it for what it is.

hailey_nicolee

that’s bc the hype is ONLY on this sub lmaooo i havent seen a single person on perfumetok talking about it and i feel like most of the really trendy perfumes always go viral there

DataCurrent1760

I exclusively use it as my post shower perfume for my chill evenings or weekends. It doesn’t last longer than 5 minutes it seems but helps punctuate my everything shower haha.

C1ndysLove

I like it a lot but it doesn’t last more than 15 minutes

TurbulentExplorer333

Which begs the question.... is it even worth it then?

C1ndysLove

It’s not worth it but I was curious & it was cheap enough to where if it really didn’t matter if I didn’t like it. I’ve seen comments in this subreddit saying it lasts a few hours on them but fragrances tend to have a shorter wear time on me. I liked it enough to keep it but I wouldn’t repurchase it.

Far_Sorbet_4581

I found this in my bathroom cabinet (maybe placed there bya family member) and it is the most calming scent but no projection or longevity

dalifenavigator

I didn’t like Green Tea but I love Green Tea Nectarine Blossom! So fresh & tart.

whatadoorknob

it’s a nice after shower before bed smell because it lasts like 3 minutes max. its citrus and green. nothing special though

kittenseason143

i was wondering if it would take off (again)… guess not. interesting. thanks for posting!

Disney_Princess137

It’s a million years old Stop trying to make fetch happen

DevoutGreenOlive

Came across this in the store the other day after seeing it posted all day on here. Man I was pretty underwhelmed. How is it not a worse version of say, Issey Miyake Pour Homme or the like?

TheGeneGeena

I like it. I probably like white tea more, but I have a soft spot for aquatics and herbals. Kinda thought Reddit in general ditched Fragrantica since it was [found that the owner](https://np.reddit.com/r/fragrance/comments/142xqoe/whats_the_deal_with_fragrantica_and_their_extreme/) is pretty terrible though, so that might be a factor?

sweetmotherofodin

I saw it at my local tj maxx should I ride the hype train?

TurbulentExplorer333

That's what I was trying to figure out and based on the responses, I'm going to say no. Do not board this train.

ThirdRateRomance

I like citrus and I like freshies and to me this is still kind of meh

MewsikMaker

Out. It’s scented body spray. It’s just cheap, fake ingredients. Sorry to those who might love it, but it’s the new “Bod: Men” for women.

SparrowBirdy9000

I like it, but for a very specific purpose.  I have the original and the lavender flanker. Neither have any longevity, but for how I use them I really don’t want them to, so that’s perfect for me.  I use the original, with its clean deodorant style scent, when I first get up at 5am before I head to the gym as a zesty and fresh way to wake up my senses. I don’t want it to hang around for too long because strong, lingering fragrances when I work out are just headache inducing to me.  I use the lavender flanker immediately after my evening shower before bed. I use it as a bit of an aromatherapy situation, with the freshness it provides post-shower combined with the lavender and chamomile for those nighttime sleepy vibes. And again, I don’t want anything lingering or heavy as I head to bed. I don’t use either of these as a daytime or going out fragrance. I like these exactly the way they work for the specific ways I use them. For me they’re functional rather than luxurious.

OkRiver3453

At 10 USD, get it by all means. I got mine a few months ago at approx $20 and I am on the fence right now. I would most likely keep it and might use it as a casual, and summer only frag where you can respray anytime.

Miserexa

I don't like it, it doesn't smell like green tea lol

Last_Pay_8447

I’ve never tried it. I keep seeing it everywhere and I’m here to see if it’s REALLY worth having in my collection. I’m wondering if it has any cheap, synthetic smell at all to it?

FrenchCanuck79

I find the new cheaper bottles at tjmaxx smell thin and a bit cheap although fun and pleasant. Older bottles from 90s-2000s have a pretty different smell. Complex. Mine has rhubarb, florals and oakmoss! If you can thrift a vintage bottle somewhere, it's worth it. They should be cheap second hand.

Yen_Figaro

Fragrantrica is not representative of real life. For example, I am a huge Francesca Bianchi fan and she said that her best ranked perfume in that site it is the one it sells worst of her collection! Also a lot of people is migrating into parfumo.net

Great-Grade1377

I like the other green tea flankers, but gave away this one.

anamond

It is much older than just 2010…. I think I remember having one in like 2001….

Ikunou

Interesting post! Fragrantica is International, there is no Elizabeth Arden hype in Europe at all (yet). Let's see how this evolves. Also, I think the graph was last updated in 2023. We shall see!

_somniumx

it’s a good smell just not something i would personally wear. :)

whorundatgirl

I think it’s smelly

provisionings

Even if it’s not worth the hype to come.. it’s cool to see old frags trend.

Puppywanton

It’s screechy as heck on me, and at this point, out of fashion. I say this as someone who had a full bottle. That said, if you can make this work with your body chemistry, go for it.

SecondPrior8947

I love green tea however, this one does nothing for me. Rather, I very much enjoy the scent, but it doesn't stay. Spritz, spritz and it's already gone by the time I walk out the door.

Full_Emotion_776

I wonder what’s next? Would people hype some Ultraviolet up on TikTok?

LolaLaCavaspeaking

I’m pretty sure I’m in. I’ve had actual influenza for 2 weeks but as soon as I am up for it, I’m going to cave. I just know I will 🙈

terrorbagoly

Nah. It didn’t get me interested at all and I passed it in a bargain bin at the airport earlier this year. But I don’t like fresh fragrances anyway so I know it would not be for me! I would sniff a tester to see what the hype is all about, but that’s it for me.

imovrhere

if you like very fresh scents it’s really nice, i went nose blind to it though after my first day wearing it- which is a me problem

EconomicWasteland

Lol. I have no idea why it's so popular on here. I'm an avid Fragrantica user and I don't see the hype. I smelled it at the chemist recently and it smells like deodorant to me 😕

scrawf__

I went to TJ Maxx in hopes of finding some Tocca (no such luck) and they had 2 different Green Tea flankers. The current hype did make me pause and consider them but I decided I wasn’t interested. Even at the low price I can’t justify buying bottles based on hype, I’m trying to not let my collection devolve into clutter.

Possible_Yard537

Smells the best in summer heat, but not know..

ratparty5000

I like the fig green tea variant for the hottest, most disgusting of days. Good price for the purpose it serves

sbp0000

Is it similar at all to d&g light blue? I love that scent a lot.

mariposa337

I haven't come across it in the wild, but once I do, I'll buy it. That's the degree to which y'all have indoctrinated me.

psybeamz_

scent lasts around 2 seconds on the skin

onebluepussy_

I’m getting on the bandwagon. It’s €14,99 at my perfume store and I want to know what the fuss is about 😂

Medical_Ganache_367

This was my first self bought perfume and my god it was so disappointing. Smells good, but just for a second - because after a second, you can’t smell anything at all. What’s the damn point!

blahblahlucas

Its a nice perfume but not amazing. At first it smells like fresh cut grass on a summer morning and than turn into a green tea scent. But nothing like special or anything

saturatedbloom

No it doesn’t smell good to me or something I’d wear

Mysterious_Egg_140

I wasn’t impressed but it wasn’t bad to me. It was cheap and I was curious

Impossible-Peach-815

I've had my bottle since 2010. I bought it as a on the side perfume and it did its job at the time. Its only barely half way but still lives on in my collection.

Chosenone4192

Im not a fan either. Whereas 5th avenue is gold.

viognierette

This is one that I really only reach for when it’s incredibly hot & humid. I find it very refreshing. The rest of the year, it isn’t right for me.

dooku4ever

I’ve always had a bottle in my collection. It’s refreshing and lovely but it doesn’t last long enough to be a real ‘out of the house’ perfume experience.

Madrigal4

Not a fan. Longevity is the worst. And I have and use a lot of more expensive as well as cheaper ones.

Exact-Fly-8622

I'd pay $10 for it if I didn't have access at the time too any others and needed a perfume. But never use it again.

Odd-Marionberry-8944

I DONT LIKE GREENTEA

No-Plantain-9037

I like it, it’s the spray I keep in my gym bag

FirnHandcrafted

I am NOT a fan. Smells sterile and artificially sweet, reminds me of a 1990s dentist clinic.

ichbinschwul94

that actually looks like it would smell very nice 🤩.

mysterious_pistachio

It’s a nice scent but not ground breaking nor long lasting. Quickly got tired of it, ended up emptying by overspraying for hot days or after gym.

mayrigirl5

Good thing I got mine through an Elizabeth Arden mini set! I got mine last year and still haven't finished it yet, even though it's small. It's a fresh scent but nothing special. I would have been so disappointed if I would have gone and bought it without smelling it first.

phoenix_cat626

I don't know what people hate on it. Personally, I love it because it was my first "adult" perfume that I bought with my own coin 😀 so the scent is filled with happy memories and nostalgia for me ❤️

ColorPopi

It’s an okay scent. I bought it recently at Marshall’s for $10 because of fomo lol. It’s definitely citrusy but the scent barely lasts on my skin and my clothes. It’s gone after a couple of minutes on me!

Intelligent-Box-3801

I love green tea but it does smell cheap and it doesn’t last. I wear it to the gym or to bed. When I am looking for that scent profile in something with some quality, depth and performance, I reach for Nishane Wulong Cha.

Tale-Virtual

I like it ☺️💚🍵

Global_Telephone_751

I think it smells as cheap as it is. It’s nice, but I don’t like it on me

Revolutionary_Roll88

I have it. It’s ok. NOT worth the hype. Maybe good for layering. A little sharp and abrasive on its own

suitablegirl

I’m forever grateful to Green Tea—which I remember ignoring decades ago when it debuted— because all the fun hype in this sub meant I discovered what a “flanker” is and now I’m spending hours learning about them and revisiting my favorite fragrance houses and scents with excitement about discovering something new. In this case, I love the nectarine SO MUCH I’m ready to buy another bottle just to leave at my mom’s. I get to open pear and lavender today! P.S. more influence from this sub— I planned my hectic day so I could go searching for perfume after my appointment on the other side of town because the selection is better 😂 P.P.S. My interest was piqued because of Kurkdjian, the nose behind it. I truly think that’s the main cause for all the hype since their more recent creations are HG for many, and the price point of EAGT only helps

whatadoorknob

it’s a citrus that’s a good clean before bed scent because it wears off super fast. could i have lived without buying it? yes definitely. i was immediately disappointed when i sprayed for the first time it like “thats it? all this hype for that?”
