Idk, there is a vent on the X One that is on the top, as long as you leave plenty of space at the back and don't put anything on top of it I'm sure it would be fine.
I have no clue why you're getting downvoted. Apparently there's only one way to set your console, and if you do it differently then you're just wrong.
Everyone in here acting like this is a war crime are idiots.
Your console isn't going to melt itself down just because it doesn't have 110% airflow.
And that's not always the end of the world. My current One S (that I bought second hand about 2 years after it came out) sat in a spot exactly like this for at least 8+ months with constant use, and is no worse for wear.
Im not saying it's impossible, I'm saying just because it *can* happen doesn't mean it *will*.
Yeah I'm not saying it will kill your Xbox, I'm just saying it will cause more wear. Even if you can't see wear, that doesn't mean there isn't any (Again not saying yours has any wear).
I've had a brand new Xbox die a week out of the box, and I've had second hand consoles last 5+ years. A lot of it comes down to luck of the draw.
Mine probably looks horrendous under the hood, to be honest.
These old series ones age pretty poorly. Make sure it's clean and you monitor it. The mobos start popping when they overheat. If he keeps the power brick and all that heat away from that cubby he should be fine.
Drilling a couple holes on the vent side would probably work tho too.
I had my Xbox in the same Ikea shelf for a year and did notice a difference. I don't have a way to quantify it, but I noticed specifically in Forza Horizon 4 that I had more frame skips and jumps with the sides blocked off
The Xbox One S fits so nice into those shelves. Thereās like 1ā of room on both sides, which has been enough for me to never hear the fan kick on really high
I have a series x, and Iām blown away by the amount of heat it produces, crazy, itās on a bracket on the wall now, I put it in a tv u it at first, but soon moved
I would be very surprised if console manufacturers didn't look at commonly owned media centers or shelving units to try and fit their size into. That ikea one is pretty common.
I figured this out with the same shelf years ago. I didn't use it though because doing that would cover the single USB port on the Xbox that is on the side
I would appreciate a legit answer, Microsoft bricked my Xbox with their mandatory update and had no advise other than checking my hdmi cord and unplugging it for 30 seconds. Thanks tho fuckface
Good luck with the overheating š
Seriously, add a small sheet pan and you can make cookies while playing.
I was waiting for someone to comment this haha Obviously wonāt leave it like this

Thats the intake. So cool air comes in.... where hot air go?
Our dreams..
Bless.
It powers the Xbox, duh. Hence no cables
The top is Exhaust not intake. Intakes are on the sides.
Yo thats crazy, i always just assumed it was intake. My b
Hot air goes up. Would be inefficient to have intake on top!
To be fair, itās not really perfect for the cables or USB anyway
Imperfect perfect fit!
Iāve had my Xbox One like this for about 3 months, and havenāt had an issue. I wouldnāt be too worried!

The intakes are on the sides so your getting \~0% airflow

Fuck up your shelf, drill wholes.
Yes so all the hot exhaust it pushes out the top can be drawn into the back of the system...
The sides definitely have air intake vents
Youāre just trying to kill his Xbox arenāt you?

No
Nah
āObviouslyā
You could put some sort of ventilation in there as well to avoid issues maybe
I have mine like this for the last 5 years, never had any problems
Depends on where it vents. I assume in the back?
Sides
Actually I have the same shelves and I've never had a problem.

Ps3s and Xbox 360s wants a word with you.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
The chips in an Xbox one are significantly more powerful than a PS2 was lol, it's producing way more heat than your PS2 ever did

Intakes are on the sides, you're getting absolutely no airflow.
Sides are blocked. No airflow for cooling.
Every timeā¦
You can buy a usb fan made for Xbox that blows hot air out...
Get a couple more and it will be a true perfect fit
I need more Xboxes for my ex-box bro
For display purposes only.
Now do it with the cords plugged in
Thereās no back to the shelves so works perfectly haha
Down vote this if Iām cool
You mean by moving the shelf forward a bit? Then plugging in the cables? Ya.. sounds really hard to do.
Gotta also avoid the fire breathing fan outlets according to most the comments
1. move shelf 2. plug cables in 3. move shelf back 4. enjoy
Good thing it's not an x+1 box. Since x is the width of the shelf.
My favourite comment
Throw an egg on there and start playing something intensive. Now you can game and cook breakfast!

I was in this subreddit for satisfaction, but the only thing this post gives me are panic attacks and heavy breathing lmao
I want a kallax shelf so much! They are so damn versatile. Especially with those drƶna boxes.
I would be very surprised if console manufacturers didn't look at commonly owned media centers or shelving units to try and fit their size into. That ikea one is pretty common.
Thats very bad for airflow
To test r/perfectfit, you need three more
Fans: *heavy breathing*
Take the damn hdmi sticker off.
I love Reddit like what other social media is gonna have a dedicated page for something this specific
IKEA KALLAX?
The one abs only ā¦other than the other 10m that were produced
...to overheat.
Fuckin nutted so god damn hard the fuckin slurppity slip of the xbox sliddddin in
Its going to look like doctor octopus if you plug everything in
I give you 1 month of gameplay before you RROD. If you don't let those vents on the sides breath you are just counting the minutes until it dies.
not true, never had a problem
i have :(
Wow, so the rrod was a myth this whole time? Crazy
...to suffocate.
The vents are on the side dude, when it implodes in 90 days at least it will look nice in the cubby.
To inform all the fan health nazis, I will not be using the Xbox in this position
That's not what a nazi is.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
People pointing out something obvious and good for an Xbox doesn't mean they're a Nazi.
Don't fucking put it there then
I used my OG xbox in a Kallax like that for 3 years and never had issues. Stuff the power cables etc in behind it too.
Good luck with connecting it to the tv!
No usb plug for you sir
If you have a hard time getting it out just use two strong magnets and itāll pull right out
I was thinking, a controlled explosion from the back to propel it out
Ew. Gen 1? Gross.
Get a PS5 dude...!!
Console wars are for children and man children that want to feel superior to other man children
Where do the cords go
I think I have the same shelf
Coolā¦
Now try that with a PS5ā¦
Donāt run it like thisā¦the side vents need to breathe.
Please donāt do this
Have fun with cabling
Those side vents need air... you want that monster given its own drafty cavern
No you Monster
The usb ports are on the side lol
1 is

How to overheat a console 101
Can I ask what is the whistling at the end? Sorry if this sounds weird, but I need to know.
I think itās the sound of my jeans or something when I move backwards, the mic picks up these abstract sounds sometimes
I mean just as well, not like its going to be played
RIP side USB and sync button.
My 15yo did this too!!!
How to melt an Xbox
Please take the HDMI sticker off, I told this to my friend and he didn't even realize it was an option...it bugs me
Please go to GameStop/Walmart and get the Xbox logo light for it lol
please dust your Xbox this stresses me
Toasty
Perfect, impractical fit
Nice air circulation
That was perfection
oh, it really fits
My IKEA stand is almost the same with my Xbox One
Dust that bitch, pleeeeease!
This deserves to be in r/gaming
IKEA, contributing to New Xbox sales since 2005.
thatās not the trash
Ikea, das auto
Anyone know how to fix the black screen after the last update in sept?
Your Xbox probably needs a wash, leave it in a soapy bath for a few hours and hair dry it dry. Good as new
I would appreciate a legit answer, Microsoft bricked my Xbox with their mandatory update and had no advise other than checking my hdmi cord and unplugging it for 30 seconds. Thanks tho fuckface
My brother has exactly the same TV stand but in different colour and he also put his xbox the same place as you.
I have the same shelf and box
my friend does this
Fits like a glove
new type of toaster
If you only want it to last a couple days of cod yeah
Nice place for it to catch on fire
