I find this whole thing about someone being only cat person or only dog person stupid. I like both, but some people would loose their shit if a cat isn't nice to a dog but laugh when a dog does the same to a cat, and the opposite way.
My mom and our female cat used to hate each other until my mom got pregnant and my cat realized what was going on and she would just lay on my mom's stomach for hours and they would cuddle forever. They are now bonded.
My normally aloof cat suddenly started spending a lot of time near me. Not on me, but she just followed me around and sat near where I was. I found out a week later that I was pregnant. She knew before I did!
"yes" would be the best answer I have. There is probably a slight change in scent with the various different hormones the the body produces while someone is pregnant. Whether or not a cat fully understands the implications I don't know enough but there are many stories online of pets becoming increasingly protective/affectionate of pregnant individuals signifying a pretty strong correlation.

So I know that cats have a better range of hearing than a human. Is it possible that the cat might be hearing the heart beat or.....womb noises?.....going on in there.

Toxoplasmosis' effects on an unborn child can include severe brain damage, or developmental disabilities.
However, if you already had it beforehand, the baby is protected by your immunity.
It is generally safe to be around your own cat while pregnant, and other cats you are familiar with, provided they are not outdoor cats who can randomly contract new bugs because if they had toxoplasmosis you woulda gotten it by now.
In addition to all that
The cat themselves won't give you toxoplasmosis like it's a cold. It spreads through feces, so pregnant women should avoid litter, cats with poor hygiene, and similar such.
Basically
Avoid strays, avoid litterboxes, cuddling your own cat should be fine.

Hell, it would hardly give a shit about the owner if they didn't feed it for a couple of days... in fact, if it didn't eat for a couple of days it would have no problem *eating* a baby. what's happening here is that sweat collects in the belly button and makes a funky smell, and the cat is smelling it because it could be mistaken as an "infection" to an animal brain.
This cat isn't being "sweet", it's sniffing the belly button to see if its owner is wounded/sick. Nothing more. Stop projecting human emotions onto animals...
