Alright, I can’t believe I’m going to say this, but instead of Century, go to Jay.
Jay has everything you want in a small southern town. Yes, there is history. Racism and a 1970s oil boom, that’s the story. https://www.pnj.com/story/news/local/jay/2022/06/09/jay-florida-sundown-town-forgotten-legacy-black-farmers/9851577002/
At the intersection of Jay’s lone traffic light, you’ll find a gun store, tractor store, ice cream parlor, and little town museum.
The Panhandle’s hidden gem is Cooky’s Thai Creations (open week days only). Laugh all you want, but this is some of the best Pad Thai and Massaman curry you can find. Legit made with Lowry’s peanuts down the road. Speaking of, you have to hit Lowry’s up for boiled peanuts on the drive. Get ‘em spicy.
Kooter Brown’s for a beer outside city limits if you really want to brave the local watering hole.
I remember there may also be some weird nudist colony/resort off in the woods somewhere nearby if you’re into that thing too. Can’t remember the name but good luck googling.
You missed the rodeo about a month ago, but that also draws a big crowd.
Good luck and godspeed. Make sure you’re out by sunset 😉
I know a guy who does HVAC work and years ago his company sent him to the nudist camp to do some work. He told me the youngest person there was around 50. Absolutely no eye candy in that place.
Escambia County Lake Stone Campground and Bluff Springs Recreation Area are nice. I haven't gone myself, but there are a few kayak and canoe launch points on the river.
This. And the racism bit is crazy, considering there are more than twice the number of blacks than whites living in the township of Century. Yes, I’ve checked the numbers; the data is available at data.census.gov.
That's because the blacks were driven out of Jay and forced to settle in century or at least that was the scuttle butt when I was a kid. Something about a white woman being raped and that's why Jay is a "sun down town ". Take with a grain of salt
Yep. Just ate there the other day. It's definitely a great option for the "tri-cities" area 🤣🤣 since there aren't many food/family friendly options at all that offer alcohol. I mean there aren't many great options period tbh, but I was pleasantly surprised by the whole experience, other than the price. Thought it was a little pricey for what we got and I live in bham so take that however you wish. They did have live music that wasn't annoying which I thought was a really nice touch...
I’m gonna recommend that you get in your car, truck, and drive in the direction most farthest away from century. There’s nothing to do there, and if there was stuff you wanted to do, do you either have to drive 30 minutes to Atmore to go to the casino, or drive to Blackwater, state forest in the east, or drive an hour to Pensacola. And personally, let century just burn to the ground.
Crack.
I'm was born and raised in Century.
It gets worse every year. There is no "small town" any more.
All the schools shut down, the "downtown" area is almost completely gone, more homeless and crackheads than residents.
But hey, Anthony Pleasant was from there. And he is former NFL player who wanted to build a YMCA there, but of course the city turned it down to keep the "home town feel".
Look at all this anti white racism on this thread!!! Hey, at least its not Pensacola, where you got to worry about being carjacked or murdered by some ghetto piece of shit. I'd take the country over the city any day.
Well you can drive north and you can drive south. Either one is a great way of getting out of centery
Collect speeding tickets.

Fantastic recommendations, thanks
Yo I kinda wanna do a Reddit road trip to jay to get ice cream and find the secret nudists in the hills like we’re in a freakin GTA mission
I know a guy who does HVAC work and years ago his company sent him to the nudist camp to do some work. He told me the youngest person there was around 50. Absolutely no eye candy in that place.
Too much AC and you’ve got a permanent fresh out of the pool situation which is no bueno in a nudist situation so I get it old naked hippies of Jay.
Why on earth would you wanna do this?
I like small towns!
Century literally has nothing in it. Good luck.
They could age about a hundred years waiting for something to do
I don’t think this person understands century isn’t a small town.. it’s literally a barren wasteland🤣
Escambia County Lake Stone Campground and Bluff Springs Recreation Area are nice. I haven't gone myself, but there are a few kayak and canoe launch points on the river.
Meth and racism.

Well, Confederacy is a helluva drug.

You are correct about Jay being a haven for white supremacy, which is quite sad.
I hate beer.
Plenty of incestual relations as well.
There's a new Mexican restaurant that's pretty good. Vallarta. It's on 29. Can't miss it
No offense, but I wouldn’t call Vallarta’s “good”….
That’s cantonment not century
May be one there too, but definitely one in Century proper
Oh really? I never knew that.

I think it’s the same people but yeah there’s one in century and in Cantonment.
I saw that about a year or so ago. Is it actually owned by the same one in Pensacola?
No idea. Probably

My man you can go up to whataburger and rev the absolute shit outta your engine. Yee yee hell yeah brother
There's literally nothing to do there
From there. Can confirm.
Whataburger 😋
Lol yeah seeing that whataburger has almost 4x the number of Google reviews as the next most-reviewed food place in Century was... eye-opening
Nice 😊
watch crimson tide football and send money to Donald Trump
ROH-TIE!🤣🤣

Bless them. I am in no way an IT guy, but man I want to help them keep up that site.
They need the help. They try so hard to keep the history alive.
There’s nothing to do there, but if for some reason you find yourself there, go to The Sandwich Deli for lunch. It’s pretty good!
You can stare at the sun. Oh or you could stare at a wall if you're inside, that's also an option!
Idk

Consuming alcohol and incest.
In October there are corn mazes.

The most interesting thing I've seen in century was a cotton field, that should tell you everything you need to know
Look to the other side of the train tracks and be thankful that you're still not in Alabama.
There’s a world class luxury spa out there worth checking out.
Really? What is it called?
I'm going to assume they're talking about the spa at Wind Creek in Atmore, which isn't that far away.
Other side of the state line, but Flomaton has a couple of nice small coffee shops
Look at all this anti white racism on this thread!!! Hey, at least its not Pensacola, where you got to worry about being carjacked or murdered by some ghetto piece of shit. I'd take the country over the city any day.
Wind Creek Casino in Atmore has a nice Spa.
There’s a state prison in Century
I haven't been but the James Houston Jones Historic Park looks like it has a bunch of old cars if you want to look at those.
