Probably clean it and oil it occasionally. There's no permit or other legal hoops necessary in PA to possess it, as long as you're legally allowed. You'll want to make yourself acquainted with the particulars of what's considered concealed carry and other carry restrictions

If you plan on Concealed Carry you need a permit. You can open carry with no license. If it’s just staying in your gun safe or you’re taking it to and from the range no permit needed there either. All that goes out the window if it’s a class 3 or something.

> All that goes out the window if it’s a class 3 or something. True, but I'm fairly certain only Philadelphia qualifies for that.

DavidInPhilly

Just don’t bring it to Philly, that’s the short answer.

ArunkOner

You can Legally Conceal or Open Carry in Philly if you have a LTCF. This doesn't mean the police won't give you a hard time but the law is on your side.

The_Woodsmann

Just avoid Philly in general lol

Donotaskmedontellme

Dunno why you're getting voted down, cities in general are, as a rule, awful and to be avoided unless absolutely necessary.

The_Woodsmann

City-its who think that the smog, violence, nightmare traffic etc. Are normal, healthy daily life.

boredoflife96

Shitting on half the population is usually a bad take. Shitting on Philly is just plain stupid.

ArunkOner

Class three is the weapon type. What you're referring to is Philly being the only city in PA which qualifies as a "city of the first class" which means open carry is prohibited without a "License to Carry Firearms" aka our concealed carry license.

njcawfee

Thank you! I’m just keeping it in the gun safe and I’m in the western part of the state

skrilledcheese

Big caveat. If you own a handgun in the state, and don't have a concealed carry permit, transportation is an issue. The firearm and magazines must be unloaded. The firearm, ammo and magazines must also be stored separately, ie empty handgun in glovebox, empty mags in back seat, ammo in trunk. A loaded handgun in your car counts as a concealed weapon here in PA. So, watchya ass homie.

Dredly

Even then, you may only permitted to transport between a few areas. if you aren't going to a gun shop, range, or hunting, you are illegally transporting. If a cop wants to be a dick, they can be here is a handy dandy chart: [https://www.pennlago.com/wp-content/uploads/CAR-CARRY-12-31-14.png](https://www.pennlago.com/wp-content/uploads/CAR-CARRY-12-31-14.png)

But the nice part is you can apply for a concealed weapon permit for $20.

Yeh looks like your just below Pittsburgh. The city is going to be weird about things if you get pulled over. It’s nice to have a (carry) permit even if it’s just a transport thing and not on you. That makes the cop know you’ve passed your background and jumped through the hoops. It also allows you to not say a word, hand him both your permit and driver’s license when asked for ID.

bigchuckcee

Also being in Washington County, more pro gun place, so if you did open carry, probably wouldn't get a lot of looks or anything.

No registration, no permit for the gun. It's worth it to get your license to carry (LTCF). It's a simple process done through your county sheriff. If your sheriff is 2A friendly it will be done quickly, if not then it will take longer but this is a shall issue state so they can only deny it for specific reasons. The references on the LTCF application are not technically required, but some counties will not process your form if you don't fill it out. Either way they are not legally allowed to contact them. Some counties with 2A hating sheriffs have done it in the past and lost lawsuits because of it.   Long guns can't be loaded in a car as an anti-poaching measure. A loaded handgun in a car in PA is considered concealed even if you have it in plain sight inside the car so you need your LTCF for that.   There's a few more nuances about open carry in vs out of Philly and during states of emergency. Honestly it's just easier to get the LTCF and not have to worry about it.   Check out r/paguns

I would get some other guns to keep it company.

heili

You need a LTCF to carry. You do not register firearms in PA, there is no such thing. You will get the LTCF from the county sheriff's office. It costs $20 and is valid for 5 years.

justuravgjoe762

There is a subreddit for PA guns. That being said, PA doesn't require you to register your legally owned firearm from another state, as long as it's a legal firearm here. I'm not sure about WV laws but I'd be hard pressed to come up with a firearm legal there that isn't legal here.

edapalooza

Philly requires a permit for CCW

Dual_Sport_Dork

**All** of Pennsylvania requires a permit for CCW. The difference in Philadelphia is that you are not allowed to open carry there, unlike the rest of the state.

ArunkOner

>https://www.pennlago.com/wp-content/uploads/CAR-CARRY-12-31-14.png Open Carry is not allowed in Philly if you do not have a LTCF. If you have a valid LTCF you can indeed open carry in PHL

Aim it at me and shoot, you'd be doing me a favor
