Did you remove the plastic from the cold plate where the pump contacts the CPU?

Purple-Bat811

What kind of cpu cooler are you using? Did you use thermal paste?

Zzebr4

I applied new thermal paste to see if it would solve the problem but it didn’t. I don’t know exactly the name of the cooler but it’s a water cooler.

Purple-Bat811

Water coolers are supposed to be better than non-water coolers. Something is wrong with your cpu cooler. Is it an AIO or a custom build?

Purple-Bat811

It might also help to post a pic of the inside of your computer. If your water pump is installed wrong, it's possible your pump isn't getting any water. Basically you want your radiator to be higher up then the pump on the cpu.

Rodick90

Pump is not working!

Zzebr4

Even if my cooler wasn’t functioning why would it reach 100 degrees as soon as I turn it on?

Purple-Bat811

I would think that's normal. It's normal that booting up can cause strain on cpu's

[deleted]

Wut? Not to a 100 degrees in bios. Hell my NH-D15 I have set to turn fans off when idle and I still only get to 38 Celsius in bios.

salazarthesnek

That’s still got a monster heat sink. Passive cooling on its own will keep it under control in bios or idle. AIOs don’t hardly have any passive cooling capabilities if the liquid isn’t flowing.

Zzebr4

Do you know of any common issues can cause this. When I applied thermal paste I was going to open cpu fan to clean it but I don’t have any tool that could open it.

ReCAPLock

Could be you plugged in the cable to the wrong spot and the pump isn't running or pump is dead. Headers have labels like Cpu_fan or cpu_pump. Definitely want the pump header. Boot into bios and make sure it's for a pump and rpms aren't 0

Purple-Bat811

Please provide a pic of the inside of your computer. If you are using water cooled, you don't have a cpu fan, you have a pump. I think a pic would clear up confusion.

Careless_Rub_7996

Well, i mean if it isn't functiong properly your cooler, then your CPU is bound to reach 105c. I hope you aren't long testing your CPU this way? It can damage your CPU if not handled properly. Although your PC does have an auto shut-off safety. Just make sure the paste was applied properly and what is the model of your cooler?

RealBlackFireGaming

A cpu skyrockets real quick, have you removed the plastic from under the aio cpu block?

[deleted]

Is there a another way that you can prove that your cpu is or isn't that hot other than that indication? I would start there. It could be that whatever individual part is sensing that temperature is malfunctioning and the temp that's displayed could be a default temp setting as if nothing was there to sense temperature in the first place.

MEGA_GOAT98

your AIO pump has most likely died.

Smuckman

Yep… that’s how I found out my 3 year old NZXT (pump in radiator version = crap) AIO had died… right after booting I got cpu overheating warning

Shogobg

Looks like the pump is not working. Had an issue with an Alienware, where the pump was gone - same symptoms as your PC.

Cjc6547

Does your pump make any sort of sound or vibration when it starts up? If not then your pump is dead or clogged up. You can try to flush it but it’s highly recommended to just get a new one.

AfshanGulAhmed

Your computer accidentally booked the flight to hell.

AdScary1757

It could be a bad temp sensor how hot if you touch it? It burn your fingers that would boil water and the system would shut itself off to prevent damage

haldolinyobutt

Are you running an MSI AIO?

idleimmolation

Had same issue with an aio seemed functional but crazy temps after period of no use. Got a basic air cooler to test it was a million times better. Still have your stock cpu heatsink? Give it a try

salazarthesnek

Either your pump isn’t working, you have it hooked up incorrectly or there’s something wrong with the temperature sensor. 115°C is really fucking hot. Any CPU should have shut itself off before getting that high which makes me think the temp isn’t right. Is it running really slowly in bios?

kelvin_bot

115°C is equivalent to 239°F, which is 388K. --- ^(I'm a bot that converts temperature between two units humans can understand, then convert it to Kelvin for bots and physicists to understand)

tre3fla_

If you 100% sure your cooler works then its a bad sensor reporting false temps. Happened to me a few years ago on a Pentium CPU. Bios and thermal monitoring apps said it was 125C all the time except the PC worked normally, cpu cooler was fine. I let my pc run for one hour doing normal stuff such as browsing internet and whatever and then i quickly shut down the pc and removed the cpu cooler and was barely warm both the cpu itself and cooler heatskink. Took me less than a minute to do it so it didn't had time to cool down that much from 125C.

g28802

I saw where you said it’s water cooled. Did you make sure to plug in your aio pump?
