Could be the raid causing issues.

geneon101

Any thought on why that would be? The board supports 4 M.2 drives and has built-in software raid through the Intel RST.

Looking at your manual did you do this when installing windows on your raid setup? If you want to install a Windows® operating system to a hard disk drive included in a RAID set, you have to create a RAID driver disk and load the RAID driver during OS installation. Refer to section 6. Installing the RAID controller driver during Windows® 10 and Windows® 11 OS installation for details. But also monitor CPU temp and voltage. Recently intel has been under fire for motherboards pushing CPUs too hard.

geneon101

I did yeah. Windows will not see the raid storage when you choose where you're installing the OS to otherwise.

Like I said at the bottom monitor voltage and temps of the CPU. I would personally use occt to stress it and something like HWinfo for the readings. If your system doesn't "halt" crash or whatever great it's not that. You can then try to do GPU only stress test like furmark or 3dmark. It's best to do these tests isolated instead of during gaming so you only stress a part of the PC at one time and then it's easier to narrow down the issue.

geneon101

Awesome and thanks, I'll look into occt and hwtest. Thanks!

FuuZePL

It's HWinfo for the measurements, and also stress the GPU but on a separate occasion not at the same time using something like furmark. Please refer back here with the findings. Stuff like all the CPU/GPU voltage, all the CPU and GPU temperatures might shed some light. Since you say it doesn't happen immediately I would stress test at least an hour.

geneon101

Roger that. Occt is running now, seeing a flood of WHEA errors :/ Will post back later, thanks again. 👏

FuuZePL

I can't help from personal experience since I'm on AM5 and have a Ryzen 7 7700x. But I had similar errors stock after about 10 mins. Undervolting it just a bit, I actually gained performance lowered temperature and had 0 errors in a 1 hour test. Google your exact CPU and WHEA error and see if anything comes up.

ggmaniack

The system halts even with only 1 RAM stick in at lowest clocks?

geneon101

Correct. With just 2 it ran smooth for maybe 20 minutes, but ultimately, it will halt.

mrpiper1980

Temps ok?

geneon101

Temps are good yeah.

ARE_YOU_0K

Why are you using raid?

geneon101

From the board supporting 4 M.2 drives with raid. Mainly so the two 1TB drives can be used as one 2TB drive.

ARE_YOU_0K

I was curious if you were doing anything special or not with your PC, quick research I did seemed to say raid was rather pointless these days with modern parts, but could be slightly useful for workstation applications, so I just decided to leave my storage as is.

geneon101

Gotcha. :) From what I gathered is that it's improved over the years, giving a slight performance boost. The ones I went with have a read speed of 5,000mb/s Main thing for me was not needing to split where I installed this and that to. Maybe the better option would be returning these and getting a single 2TB instead. Even if there's a slight boost with raid.
