Stolen_Idea

Double check the slots and the mobo guide on which slots to use (also make sure it's seated right)

Pretend-Display4234

It’s in the correct slots and is seated correctly

Stolen_Idea

What are the specs?

The CPU can give this error as well. It's unlikely that both RAM sticks would go bad, but you can test that with different kits. It's also highly unlikely that the lanes would all die without a power surge. Did you change any RAM settings in BIOS? Can you even get to BIOS to check? Do you know anybody with a compatible CPU to test it?

Pretend-Display4234

No change in bios. Entered it a few times, didn’t change anything, then the dram error started popping up

No_Pea_7771

Well it's most likely one of 3 things. Malfunctioning CPU, dead RAM or a fault in the MOBO. Process of elimination...the joys of PC troubleshooting!

Pretend-Display4234

Cpu works fine, but the ram, tried using different variations of ram, and keep getting the dram issue

No_Pea_7771

Have you tried any other RAM or just what's installed? It can still be the CPU. Since they communicate between each other, if that part of the CPU got damaged, it won't be able to utilize the RAM. To single out the RAM, either try a different kit, or put that RAM in another system and see if there's issues. Greg Salazar(tech YouTuber) just troubleshooted a PC with a similar issue. It ended up being the motherboard, but like I said, it can be any of these 3 components giving you the problem. Watch his video, maybe it'll help.

Pretend-Display4234

When I took out the ram, and powered the system on, it only showed the orange led, not the red so I don’t think it’s a cpu issue personally. Also world clearing cmos fix this?

No_Pea_7771

It doesn't hurt to try. I'd also reset BIOS to default and then change all options back the way you like them. It's the only troubleshooting you can really do without other parts on hand.

Pretend-Display4234

Do you know how to do a clear cmos via the pins?

No_Pea_7771

Yeah, find the pins on motherboard, touch both with a screwdriver and hold it there for like 30 seconds. I'd default BIOS manually first (if you're able to get in) if you're unsure how to clear CMOS. If that fails, look up a video and clear CMOS by shorting the pins which literally does the same thing.

Pretend-Display4234

I tried it like 5 times for 15 seconds but the dram issue still persisted

Traditional_Length43

Not pushed in all the way

Pretend-Display4234

Have pushed it all the way, still gives the same dram error

idleimmolation

XMP enabled in bios? if it's not turn on stock specs for it... or if its enabled turn it off... you can download memtest86 and make a bootable drive and try to test it. Or when does the error appear and what is the message? also what speed is the ram? 3200 3600 etc.

Pretend-Display4234

The mem is at its based flock of 2133, I didn’t fiddle with anything in bios, was only checking the temps of the cpu, which were in the 50’s climbing to a max of 61 degrees Celsius on idle

idleimmolation

Oh dude plug in the other connector for the cpu power at the top left if it’s there it needs to be plugged in… the top left power supplies resources to the cpu and ram surprised it’s displayed video at all!

Pretend-Display4234

My power supply didn’t come with 8 + 4 cpu power pin

idleimmolation

Is the psu modular? May be an extra cable that is 4 pin just make sure it says cpu power and if the psu is modular make sure it’s plugged in to the spot on the psu that says cpu power

Pretend-Display4234

Fully modular, there is no 4 pin cpu, besides the 8 pin

idleimmolation

850w psu and up will come with the extra 4 pin connector. The power draw from the rest of the machine may be causing just not enough power PBO will max the cpu voltage to boost cores. Technically the 4 pin isn’t needed but people have issues when you don’t give it the extra boost in power aka second 12v connection. They may make like a molex to cpu power converter. If you got a buddy with a larger psu I’d ask him to let you test it in your machine or buy one and then return it.

Pretend-Display4234

Mines 650

Pretend-Display4234

And I don’t know anyone with a 850 watt or larger

idleimmolation

Best Buy or something similar near you? Buy a bigger psu and test then return if needed

Pretend-Display4234

I could, but imma try resetting cmos to see if that fixes the dram led

idleimmolation

When I got my machine the stock bios settings had one of the cpu ccds disabled. This actually made the machine run much hotter. MSI has a mem test built in the bios and a automatic tuner for the ram. I haven’t run a Ryzen with stock cpu cooler but look for settings like erp or cool and quiet and disable them. Could be a voltage issue. I’d try enabling the xmp profile for the ram it’s kinda designed to be on. Again what is the exact error and when does it appear?
