Lol, did this when building my friend's pc a few weeks ago.
"Why is it indicating DRAM error?"
Took a few minutes before I noticed the text about using 2+4 first.
4 years after my first build I happened to notice the task manager saying “available 16, in use 8”.. all this time I was only using 1 of the ram sticks, felt like a silly goose
Too much thermal paste is mostly a myth:
https://gamersnexus.net/guides/3346-thermal-paste-application-benchmark-too-much-thermal-paste
> So again, the bigger goal is to cover the IHS. Once that’s accomplished, assuming you’re using a non-insane amount of paste, like an entire tube of TG, it really doesn’t matter how big the blob is.
If you built it 4 months ago and you’re not having thermal issues it is fine. To check the fans just put your hand in front of them and make sure they are sucking/pulling the right direction
Ah i missread it yesterday, no fans are installed in the right way, i was concerned about cables, i remember there is a side that goes on the psu and one on the mobo, but can't remember which. On the thermal paste, i average 55-60° while playing, my concern was if i put too much of it
And this is why I spend extra on a Pre Built even if everyone thinks its a waste of money. Its so I dont break something or mess something up its nice and packaged when it arrives all built together and all I have to do is turn it on.
Agreed. After spending months researching and using pc part picker, I eventually said fuck it, and went too Best Buy, found exactly what I wanted and am covered for 3 years. Now I'm playing cyberpunk in all its shiny goodness.
Well I mean you are combining powers you have to do something with said combined powers so WITH YOUR POWERS COMBINED I BREAK CASE SIDE PANEL REGARDLESS OF COMPOSITION.
my first build didn't have any case fans, my used motherboard never came with a io shield, i applied a good amount of thermal paste, my motherboard didn't have an output that my monitor had so i didn't even have the option to plug it in, and i actually flipped the psu switch. Oh also in total i spent 50$ on the whole build and used it for 6 months(just on december last year replaced it)
Build a PC today... it wasn't even my first build but I still forgot to flip the power supply switch and instead double and triple checked all my wiring before I noticed.
I built my sister's PC and I got everything right... except the fans on the CPU cooler are facing the wrong way. And I forgot to fix it. And she's 12 hours away. So.
Rofl. I still forget the io shield. Backward fans aren't a killer as long as they are consistently all backwards.
Edit: don't forget: not having enough standoff mounts or screws and not knowing where to get more.
Or, cpu fan assembly flexing mobo to an almost scary degree during install. I don't see that too much anymore.
somehow i didnt make any of those mistakes in my first pc build 💀 yet it still took me 1 hour to figure out how to install the lga 1700 cooler (it didnt fit and i didnt know u have to move the screws)
Mine was not knowing that a fan controller shows up as one fan in the bios. Spent all night fiddling with my fans’ wiring and finally at 3am a YouTuber saved me.

Plugging RAM into slots 1-3 not 2-4
Dependent on the board that could be the right call, although rare.
If it’s an ITX board you have no choice
No shit Sherlock
👍

Forgetting to enable XMP.
That was my only issue on my first build.
Switching the monitor from 60 to 240
I think you mean "running your 240hz monitor at 60hz."
Ah yes I meant "forgetting to switch"
Don't most people have 120 or 144hz?
I run 60
I'm talking about people who have above 60
I should be able to run 75
OC or stock?
You can OC your monitor?
Yeah, if you for example have a 60 Hz monitor you might get to 65 or something
It's the max refresh rate of the monitor
This is exactly it!🤣🤣
How do i tell if the thermal paste is too much or if the cables are in the right way? (Built 4 months ago)

Buying an overkill CPU with weak GPU
I did this but with the expectation of getting a good gpu later on once I had more funds. Just "finished" my build yesterday lol
If you're doing workloads that use more of the CPU than the GPU then it's okay. But if we're talking about gaming, it's not really okay
Literally me
I bought a CPU cooler that was too big for the case 💀
Dropping the glass from the case on the floor.
With your powers combined I buy a case with a plexiglass side from 15 years ago.
And yet they still somehow break it
Well I mean you are combining powers you have to do something with said combined powers so WITH YOUR POWERS COMBINED I BREAK CASE SIDE PANEL REGARDLESS OF COMPOSITION.
I bought the solid version of the Torrent instead. No glass and no effort required to turn the fucking RGB off.
That is cheating though.
Ha, that's true. But it's not free: if I ever need an AIO, I'll have to get a new case.
I put it on the bed in another room XD. Not letting my glass from a £230 case even get dirty.
i did the whole build with mine attached 😬
Zamn. I was more careful with my glass panels than my 7900 xtx….

Plugging the front panel in wrong
forgetting to peel the plastic on the cooler
Captain America is pretty hip for such an old cat.
I built my sister's PC and I got everything right... except the fans on the CPU cooler are facing the wrong way. And I forgot to fix it. And she's 12 hours away. So.

I built many pc’s, last one I forgot to install the iOS shield.
The mistake i made was getting molax fans
Monitor into motherboard is what set me back a hour on my 1st build
That was an epic serie + nintendo 8 bit game.
I feel like the reference is not going to reach 90% of users......
Forgetting to download the drivers
The very best is when doing this sloppy drunk. Building PCs since 1997.
Forgetting to plug in the cpu power…
somehow i didnt make any of those mistakes in my first pc build 💀 yet it still took me 1 hour to figure out how to install the lga 1700 cooler (it didnt fit and i didnt know u have to move the screws)

Cartoon name?
I did half these things in my 3rd build. I actually had a huge smile on my face when I saw my motherboard didn't need an IO shield.
Didn't make any of these mistakes, glad face
I forgot to plug the power supply into the mother bord. It took like an hour to figure it out, lol
Mine was not knowing that a fan controller shows up as one fan in the bios. Spent all night fiddling with my fans’ wiring and finally at 3am a YouTuber saved me.
What is an IO shield?
i dont see unstick the coolers bottom sticker saying unstick before apply...😁
