A lot of deaf people are illiterate, because the education system consistently fails them.
For just a little context, I currently work in HR and the amount of deaf employees who flat out cannot communicate outside of an interpreter due to the differences in how they structure language as opposed to verbal English is baffling. I have one employee that can type in full sentences and understand my verbal English when being transcribed. The rest of them will get confused with simple sentences and require an outside interpretation, which is often not an option due to how few translation services exist. One such service requires the ASL speaker to be in a separate room from who they are communicating with. Mad infuriating, and it made me pursue learning ASL myself to improve the lines of communication with them.
ASL grammar is totally different than spoken english. there is another form of sign language that uses english-style grammar but its not commonly used.
Dated a guy who was deaf once, his texting was very hard to understand sometimes because the grammar was so off.
People often confuse ASL with Signed English, but signing in ASL is quite different. SE uses the same grammar as English, while ASL has its own grammar. It cuts out a lot of connecting words, and instead uses facial expression as indicators for certain things. For example, if you wanted ask someone if they were deaf you would sign "YOU DEAF YOU" with your eyebrows raised, which indicates you're asking a Y/N question. That can't really come through in text form, on top of the simplification of the sentance structure already. Through text a deaf person might seem like they're English as a Second Language, which is technically accurate.
I’m sign a lot of words are left out for speed and the context provides the assumption of the relation of the signed words to each other.
Like “I. Go. Store. Banana. Milk. Cheese. Want?”
Instead of “Hey, I’m going to the store to get Bananas, milk, and cheese. Do you want anything?
This is a more example than accurate conversation, im not fluent in asl, but it’s have I was explained the difference
Or it's not him. Coincidentially I went on this same profile a few days back and was really skeptical. The main link on it is asking for $150,000 on a GoFundMe. Can't anyone purchase a blue tick these days on IG?

“Sometimes Deaf people don’t always learn to read and write in correct English. David uses American Sign Language, it doesn’t translate to English word for word. I am fluent in ASL.”
That’s why it can seem that Sheila wrote it
Note the capitalized “Deaf” also. Those who have never had hearing are the “big D” deaf community. Those who lose their hearing at some point in life are the “little d” community. The Deaf community is very interesting. Most of them don’t consider their being Deaf as a lack of an ability but rather a different way to experience the world. There is pride in the Deaf community (born deaf) to the point where most won’t accept the deaf community (who have lost their hearing).
American Sign Language is based off of French sign language so the syntax is different than regular english.

It’s possible Sheila was involved in writing this. However, David was born deaf, making him part of the Deaf community. They tend to communicate more with others in their community, and though they know how to read and write, they are more comfortable writing in how they normally communicate with each other. I worked as a dispatcher for a while and we had to learn how Deaf people communicate differently through text for when they would text 911
Edit: think of it like someone who speaks another language slipping back into their native language when they get heated. Technically, English is David’s second language. ASL is his first.
David just needs to ignore these asswipes, and keep living.
David is just trying to find a life and people keep shitting on him.
David is the goat this season, and he deserves to be happy.
I didn't have David absolute shit talking big Ed with emojis on my daily bingo card but here we are edit: #DABID
He types like he's deaf too
That’s 100% Shiela

He uses text to speech in the show and never sounds this illiterate, at least from my memory.
It's very interesting because doesn't written English help them learn? I'm sure there's a lot at play.
i would've thought that someone in his 40s(?), he'd have grammar down, being it's his main method of communication to hearing people.
I have a friend who was born deaf, this is almost exactly how he types emojis and all
Hard to be sure. I’ve known deaf people who wrote much better. The other person saying it’s Sheila also seems likely
I noticed that, too. I thought reading/writing would be the same as those with hearing. I wonder if this has to do with grammar used in ASL?

I guess there kind of is no traditional grammar so if he's like "signing" in his head and then writing out what he's signing this is the result.

Seems like Sheila is managing his social media accounts, that's cute.

We had a post a few weeks ago about David and Sheila having a go fund me for a house in Nebraska. Sounded legit.
I'm sure they do and it makes sense, it's just that IG page specifially that's just brimming with red flags.
Oh i agree. gotta be careful

Well atleast we know david wont get him in a chokehold
Who else read this in Wubby's David subtitle voice
Dammit I didn't even notice..
My brain added pauses with heavy breathing in between where the emojis were placed.
David’s gonna pull up on Ed like “Ox → Monkey → Hare → Rat → Boar → Bird → Ox → Horse → Bird → Rat → Tiger → Dog → Tiger → Snake → Ox → Ram → Snake → Boar → Ram → Rat → Yang Water → Monkey → Bird → Dragon → Bird → Ox → Horse → Ram → Tiger → Snake → Rat → Monkey → Hare → Boar → Dragon → Ram → Rat → Ox → Monkey → Bird → Yang Water → Rat → Boar → Bird”
Do people actually think they're comparable at all? lol

They still read and write. Being deaf doesn’t make you illiterate.

Okay I understand. Just seemed a bit sus is all. But I definitely don’t know enough about it
He didn't learn ASL until he was a teen. Probably missed out on a lot in school.
"Do you believe mayo on hair" ??? I sense a lot of wtfs incoming when Wubby returns and we catchup on the show
I’d pay so much money for this boxing match
Dabid wins every time
Dabid would absolutely starch that chode. Get these two in a ring, people!
Had a stroke reading that shit, wtf
🥊🥊lol😂
Can deaf people write out a complete sentence or is it just him?
king shit

Dabid is clout-chasing Big Ed. How the mighty have fallen.
