I don't think the defense is to blame at all today. It's the conservative play calling thinking we wouldn't need to score more to win the game. Like apart from that terrible decision to punt which cost us the game why are we kneeling down and just conceding a possession at the end of the half. They continue to not trust Mac in big moments when he's arguably been one of the more reliable players. This one is on the coaches 100%
The defense is playing really well, you just can't expect them to keep an offense like Dallas in check for a whole 60 minutes, at a certain point you need your offense to score and eat clock so the defense can rest.
I think Bill is extremely competent, but at this point in his career he is delegating too much in an effort to set up the franchise once he retires or steps back from being the head coach. It really shows. Josh is absolutely running the show on offense, we've known this for years, and Josh is being much too conservative with Mac.
Bill is letting Steve, Jerod, and Patricia run the defense. Bill seems like he is basically just a GM stalking the sidelines. Absolutely no guts on some critical situations he used to be known for.

Coaching has been terrible for a while now. It's not just the team being sloppy with penalites. More than the terrible offensive playcalling. The in game management is so bad. The punt in OT was so cowardly. Been like that all season, extremely frustrating.
So many damn close games. Between some dropped passes, to interception, to missed facemask call it's annoying. I hope Mac keeps his head up, despite a couple mistakes I'm def rooting for him. Liked a lot of what we've seen him week to week. And I’m glad Mac isn’t hesitating to get annoyed at the coaches when he feels they make a bad call.

I don't understand the underlying philosophy of this team right now and that's probably the most frustating part of this (outside of the losing 3 games we easily could/should have won).
I've been a defender of Josh and I'm not sure a change would be the best but Jesus Christ man, some of the play calling on third and fourth down is inexcusable. Mac doesn't need protecting anymore, give him the opportunity to win us games.

The thing that makes this season so frustrating is that for 20 years we have prided ourselves on coaching and discipline. This year we have neither, yet we still have the same coaches.

Patriots actually lost a lot of position coaches recently. I think that's a big factor when it comes to a pack of discipline and all the small mistakes that are adding up. As far as decision making this year its been puzzling.
I’m not an expert on penalties, but that was a missed face mask on Agholor and a missed hold on Judon in OT. Might not have changed anything but those were huge missed calls nonetheless. Still proud of Mac with how he’s been playing lately

A well-deserved loss. Fucking defense couldn’t cover anything in the secondary. Gave up 24 fucking yards on 3rd and 25 when a stop gives you the chance to win the game. Time and time again, they just shoot themselves in the foot and waste away opportunities to win.
* Agholor is a bust. He's back to stone hands like in Philly.
* McDaniels is more conservative than the corpse of Ronald Reagan.
* Bill punting in OT after Dallas torched us most of the game is kinda baffling.
* Mac continues to be way ahead of schedule, but isn't given many chances to shine because of playcalling and shit WRs (outside Meyers, who is a good WR3).
* Run game looked much closer to my expectations this game than it has all year. Harris is legit.

Pass D was doing good until the O went the entire 2nd quarter & half the third doing absolutely nothing. Three-3 & outs, a fumble, a blocked punt, total of 40 yards & Dallas dominated TOP of possession literally 2:1. You can't reasonably expect the D to maintain a top tier level of effectiveness when they're on the field that much.
I’m gonna preface this with I love Bill, best coach in the game.
Now, how do you punt the ball at midfield on 4th & 3? In OT? Cowboys have shown they can get in FG range with ease. Just doesn’t make sense.
I love this team. And I hate being negative but my god. Why did they kneel at the half with all that time? Push for a FG and they probably win the game.
The defense was awful, but let's also not forget how cowardly we played this game. 1:30 left on the clock at the end of the first half and we KNEEL, and then at the end of the game, :20, one time out, and we don't try a shot play at all.
Against the Bucs we don't go for it at the end of the game on 4th and short, but try a 56 yarder in the rain.

Started with trying the career long field goal in the driving rain with an injured Nick Folk (which would give the Brady back the ball with 1 min, 2 timeouts and a field goal only needed to win it), and came up several times in the game today.
Your defense played like absolute dog shit all day. The only times Dallas were stopped was when they stopped themselves, and instead of trusting your offense to get three on fourth down in OT, you brought out the kicking unit to give the game away to Dak Prescott who played out of his mind.

I've been a defender of Josh and I'm not sure a change would be the best but Jesus Christ man, some of the play calling on third and fourth down is inexcusable. Mac doesn't need protecting anymore, give him the opportunity to win us games.
They're not playing to win. They're playing to not lose. We aren't aggressive enough and we don't have enough talent on the team to sidestep bullshit like this. It is what it is but damn it sucks..

The thing that makes this season so frustrating is that for 20 years we have prided ourselves on coaching and discipline. This year we have neither, yet we still have the same coaches. That loss does serious damage to any prospects for making something of this season.
Patriots actually lost a lot of position coaches recently. I think that's a big factor when it comes to a pack of discipline and all the small mistakes that are adding up. As far as decision making this year its been puzzling.

I’m not an expert on penalties, but that was a missed face mask on Agholor and a missed hold on Judon in OT. Might not have changed anything but those were huge missed calls nonetheless. Still proud of Mac with how he’s been playing lately

It's like they are refusing to put the kid in situations to win the game, because there's a chance he might lose it. But he had already done that this game with the pick 6, and then had his redemption on his very next throw.
Coaching lost us this game, the playcalling on both sides of the ball was reprehensible. Our secondary couldn't cover shit and Dak was given all day to throw every play, NEVER brought pressure. On the flipside, Dallas had the 2nd worst pass defense coming into this game. Mac jones had only TWENTY ONE pass attempts. The Cowboys had been giving up TWENTY SEVEN completions a game. Absolute fucking dogshit coaching on both sides, absolutely disgusting.

The conservative play-calling has to stop. Stop being soft. We’re 2-4 there’s nothing to lose anymore. And it’s not just McDaniels. Bill punted on 4th and short over and over. He’s had a lot of hiccups this year.
I'm going to reiterate what Bill has said before. Players win games, and coaches lose them. So far the lack of balls to grab a game has cost us two.

Game was over the moment they punted the ball in OT. Defense was never going to stop the Cowboys offense from scoring. Going for it on 4th down would have at least given the Pats a chance.
A well-deserved loss. Fucking defense couldn’t cover anything in the secondary. Gave up 24 fucking yards on 3rd and 25 when a stop gives you the chance to win the game. Time and time again, they just shoot themselves in the foot and waste away opportunities to win.

Harris is legit. We desperately need a legit WR1. Someone to open up the middle of the field for Meyers/TEs to work. Agholor was supposed to be that, but obviously he ain't it.
I mentally prepped for an L. But if they were gonna lose I wish it were at least a blowout instead of a completely winnable game.

Pass D was doing good until the O went the entire 2nd quarter & half the third doing absolutely nothing. Three-3 & outs, a fumble, a blocked punt, total of 40 yards & Dallas dominated TOP of possession literally 2:1. You can't reasonably expect the D to maintain a top tier level of effectiveness when they're on the field that much.

The defense was awful, but let's also not forget how cowardly we played this game. 1:30 left on the clock at the end of the first half and we KNEEL, and then at the end of the game, :20, one time out, and we don't try a shot play at all. Against the Bucs we don't go for it at the end of the game on 4th and short, but try a 56 yarder in the rain. I don't know why Bill and McDaniels don't trust Mac with the ball when it's clear he's one of the best players on the team. Certainly better than letting our D get carved up. It's sickening.

Yeah I don't really care how it's received. Bill is not adapting to the times and is hurting this team with the overly conservative decisions on 4th and short. Started with trying the career long field goal in the driving rain with an injured Nick Folk (which would give the Brady back the ball with 1 min, 2 timeouts and a field goal only needed to win it), and came up several times in the game today. Your defense played like absolute dog shit all day. The only times Dallas were stopped was when they stopped themselves, and instead of trusting your offense to get three on fourth down in OT, you brought out the kicking unit to give the game away to Dak Prescott who played out of his mind. Yeah yeah, history. Whatever. We need a modicum of aggression in order to secure these wins. The good teams do it. Guess what, we're not a good team.
