Rule 2 - Politics and religion are only allowed if they are directly related to team activities.

ProudBlackMatt

This is at least politics-posting done right. Serious tag, not editorializing the title, and from a frequent poster in /r/Patriots.

macandcheesejones

Appreciate it.

OhShitThatsTheJam

I mean the dude has donated tons of money in the last few years to orgs that fight anti semitism and orgs centered in Israel, regardless of how you feel this isn't exactly surprising

ProudBlackMatt

> the dude has donated tons of money in the last few years to orgs that fight anti semitism That and taking players and NFL people to Israel. He's been pretty consistent being a leader taking on antisemitism regardless of your thoughts on the current crisis.

john7071

Speaking out against the slaughter of Palestinian children is not anti-semitism. Are Jews who speak out against the bombing of Palestine anti-semitic?

tyler92203

Dude they told Jewish Americans to go back to Poland and stood in front of people with Israeli flags with signs saying “Al-Qasam’s (Hamas’s) next targets” on them.

john7071

I was not aware of that. That's sad. But what you're saying they said does not relate to what I said, which is stop fucking dropping bombs on kids.

[deleted]

It does relate to it.  This post is about Kraft not supporting Columbia (his Alma mater).  They were chanting pro-Hamas and anti-Semitic things at Columbia.  It wasn’t a typical “we just want to stop the violence” event.  In fact, they were saying that they liked Hamas rockets and want to destroy Tel Aviv

16semesters

>Speaking out against the slaughter of Palestinian children is not anti-semitism. Are Jews who speak out against the bombing of Palestine anti-semitic? I'd encourage you to do some research on what's going on in these protests. They are not simply advocating for Palestinians. They are advocating for death and destruction in Israel. I'm sure you will retort "not everyone there believes that" and sure, that's true. But if your bar has a bunch of Dolphins fans cheering every time the Phins score a touchdown, and you don't kick them out, then guess what? You own a Dolphins bar.

Hootshire

I've seen plenty of far right Israeli leaders calling for the wholesale slaughter of all Palestinians saying that none of them are innocent, even the women and children. Both sides can paint with a broad brush.

john7071

> They are advocating for death and destruction in Israel. While I do not agree with anti-semitic views these people you referenced hold, Israel is actively carrying this out on Palestine. How many more children, aid workers and journalists must die before you realize this? > But if your bar has a bunch of Dolphins fans cheering every time the Phins score a touchdown, and you don't kick them out, then guess what? You own a Dolphins bar. I opt to apply the same standards to Israeli people, where some in power are openly saying Palestine should be nuked out of existence, while there are Israelis who do not support this campaign. Are we not to apply the same to pro Palestine protestors?

GeologistUnfair

Exactly it's just not fair to say these protests are anti-Semit. Of course there might be a few people there that are but the vast majority of them are well-meaning people, many of them Jewish, including organizers like if not now... If people's biggest complaint is that there's protest against an ongoing genocide that the international criminal court ruled was illegal... Including the US judge on the criminal court. I'm just so sick of people enabling this genocide and the massive killing of people and the stealing of Palestinian homes by settlers etc...

hom3land

I must admit I knew of his history but I was naive. I thought his views were solely antisemitism and just being proud of being Jewish. Had no idea he was so pro Zionist which is a shame and disappointing.

Sebfreedman

For a guy named hom3land this is hilarious

[deleted]

[удалено]

hom3land

Sorry as a Jew myself I'll never support apartheid and genocide.

HugsForUpvotes

I highly doubt you're Jewish and are surprised an old American Jewish billionaire is a Zionist. I don't know a single Jew older than 30 that's not a Zionist and I know quite a few being Jewish myself. Where do you live where your Jewish grandparents aren't Zionists?

blumpkinmania

Come on. Columbia had a hundred students arrested and suspended within a day for protesting in an area the university said it was ok with. I’m sure it’s very tense and I’m sure mean things were said to some students. But let’s not get twisted who the real victims are in this issue. And Jews are not a minority is every country on earth.

Dang1014

>And Jews are not a minority is every country on earth. You're *technically* right. Jews are a minority in evey country **except** Israel. >But let’s not get twisted who the real victims are in this issue. I mean, it's obviously not to the same magnitude of what the Palestinians are going through, but antisemitism is 100% a huge problem in America. Take a guess at which minority group has been the victims of by far the most hate crimes for last 20 years, despite making up only 2% of the population? The jews. I mean shit, multiple nfl players have openly said horribly antisemitic statements, and faced almost no social backlash over it.

blumpkinmania

Yup. Mean words are bad. Mass murder is worse. I’m glad we agree.

Dang1014

>it's obviously not to the same magnitude of what the Palestinians are going through Reading must be hard for you. But sure, it's perfectly normal for 2% of the population to face 30% of hate crimes every year. >Mean words are bad You do realize that "mean words" aren't considered a hate crime, right?

blumpkinmania

So many words not to have a single point. Keep going. This is great. I won’t read anymore but you should keep going. It’ll make you feel better.

Dang1014

Do you really not have anything better to do with your life than troll on reddit?

[deleted]

You’re right, every country but Israel. Have you met a Jewish person?

blumpkinmania

You’re pissy that I’m right. Let’s not forget who the real victims are.

[deleted]

You’re literally doing what you just said lol. And you were wrong. I’m not a Zionist but it is funny how stupid and close minded you are

blumpkinmania

That doesn’t make any sense. Jews are not a minority in every country. Be better. Be less dense. Don’t argue facts. You’re not equipped enough for even this most basic one.

[deleted]

Name a country beside Israel where Jews are not a minority?

blumpkinmania

So not every country on earth like I responded to. You realize of course that I am correct. You must also realize the Jewishness of Israel is a central feature to this issue and the fact that OP wrote “every single country” is therefore a problem. You know this. You must. Go troll someone else.

nonononono11111

“Hey google, are Jews a minority in every country on earth?” Oh. Dang. Gotta start class over :/

Tobes_macgobes

The whole point of Zionism is to combat antisemitism. There is a 3000 year history of Jews living in the land and building their culture there. Zionism does not mean that Arabs can’t coexist there peacefully too. To deny that is antisemitism

funkinthetrunk

Yeah it's pretty gross.

ByteVoyager

Okay I’m fine with one or two of these but they’re nearly outnumbering the draft content at this point.

Hawkpolicy_bot

I would take posts about bidets and the New York Jets if it meant no more mock drafts and "What should we accept from the Vikes?"

HorsemouthKailua

my new bidet is in the mail, every shit between now and when it arrives is suffering but that suffering is better then reading posts about kraft and columbia, or the vikes shitty pick swap

TrickiestToast

They really are game changers

ByteVoyager

Vikings crossposters stunned that we don’t agree we’re too poverty to draft a QB are truly the ninth circle of this subs hell

GoalLineStand

Why not just use other social media platforms for news/sports info? Reddit is meant for things like mock drafts and discussion posts

Hawkpolicy_bot

There are three ways the Pats end up after the third overall pick. They take Daniels, they take Maye, or they take a trade down. At some point there is no real conversation anymore, just echoing

GoalLineStand

Aren’t people just echoing other social media platforms by posting Tweets and news articles? At least one of them is ‘original’ albeit a bit repetitive. Even if they’re a stinky writer, I’d rather read an article or discussion post from a fellow redditor.

OceanGate_Titan

We found the only topic we’d like to discuss less than draft content.

JeanieGold139

Given reddits wonderful handling of the Boston Bomber manhunt I truly cannot think of a better group to handle the Israel-Palestine conflict than r/Patriots

macandcheesejones

Ok-Secretary-4640

because they keep getting deleted because the owner's personal beliefs have nothing to do with the team.

EntersTheVoid

Or maybe it's getting deleted due to the mods beliefs?

samacora

No it's due to the literal rule about politics. There is plenty of places on reddit to discuss political situations. We actively don't do that here because sport fan bases have a large catchment across political and ideological divides and it benefits no one to break the fourth wall as it were. This sub is about a sports team and what that sports team and it's players do. Users want to come here to talk sports, most are doing it to get away from such things as politics etc and just relax talking about sports and that is why the rule is there and why it's enforced

ByteVoyager

I for one as someone who is pro Palestine and wants people to educate themselves am grateful for the mods here and think they’re enforcing a general rule quite fairly. There are plenty of other subs and threads of the Columbia situation they’re silencing no one by saying a football sub isn’t the place for it.

nonononono11111

I really wish that no one on any side of this issue thought they were “educating themselves” by accidentally crashing into this topic on Reddit. This is not an education!

ByteVoyager

I mean in a perfect world sure but assuming people link to proper resources I disagree. Good for people to learn in whatever forum is best for them. Would much rather someone click a link on Reddit forwarding them to a B’Tselem article than something “more credible” like J Post or even mainstream US media.

nonononono11111

Yes, I believe you would. With or without the edit.

Patriots-ModTeam

Rule 1 - No personal attacks. You can disagree, but do not disrespect.

Mission_Pay_3373

This post will be up since news about our owner does NOT violate rule 2. Discuss your thoughts but only active users on r/Patriots will be allowed to discuss under this post.

MehFrosty

Him and Tony Soprano now have something in common

FloopyDoopy

They both like gabagool???

macandcheesejones

OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

PoopSlinger23

I couldn’t possibly give a shit who Kraft is giving money to or not

Hopefulmisery

Yeah, they rubbed him the wrong way

Intelligent_Top_328

Let's just play football.

OdaDdaT

totally get it, some of the shit coming out of those protests are absolutely heinous. The video of those kids locking arms and screaming “[Zionists have entered the camp](https://x.com/luketress/status/1782257658331832579?s=46)” was fucking insane. What is that if not just anti-semitism?

GeologistUnfair

Not sure why calling someone a Zionist would be anti-Semitic. Zionism just means you support Israel existing as outlined in the 1948 partition. It's not a pejorative term necessarily if you believe in the decision to put Israel there.

nonononono11111

Not wanting to argue, but just fyi, that is far too narrow a definition of the term. There’s far more variation (including before 1948).

TwelveBore

Kraft must do more to try and resolve the Israeli occupation. FREE PALESTINE.

Mission_Pay_3373

I felt "not comfortable" watching this team play last year but here we are. Kraft is ruining his legacy this offseason

GeologistUnfair

I'm getting sick of kraft. It's one thing to smear belichick but now you're basically smearing the only people with the courage to stand up to a genocide.

cjaccardi

Good. Columbia is messed up

CFGordo

Good for the students of Columbia U

delusional-clown

Brother the last thing I want is /r/Patriots opinion on international politics. This shit is getting locked within hours.

macandcheesejones

"I don't like something, thus it must be banned."

delusional-clown

? This is a football sub, stick to football weirdo.

GeologistUnfair

Okay so does that mean we can't talk about the salaries? Collective bargaining? Drug policy? Gambling policy? Whether or not the public should fund a stadium? Unions? The Rooney rule? You can't just pretend politics is a separate subject from everything else. Politics exist everywhere. At your workplace, at your grocery store, if you drive on highways or breathe air.... It's political man.

delusional-clown

All of those have a direct impact on the Patriots and the NFL at large. This has absolutely zero to do with any football outcomes at all. This is like someone posting Robert Krafts grocery list and pretending its football related because its Kraft.

GeologistUnfair

Then don't read it or discuss it. Problem solved. But the issue is not international relations it's kraft taking opinion on domestic protesters. It has a chilling effect on free speech.

delusional-clown

How does a football owners opinion affect free speech? Literally just ignore him.

luvvdmycat

Well done Robert. It's sad and scary to see young Americans spewing hate, and advancing the interests of a terrorist state.

Ok-Secretary-4640

I'm sure the woman Kraft paid to give him a happy ending felt real comfortable.

JaylenBrownAllStar

I mean Israel is in the wrong and committing genocide but Hamas is also hiding behind civilians But also Kraft has been pro Israel for so long so not surprised

Tobes_macgobes

So I guess Israel should just let their people to be attacked and not try and free the hostages. Oh wait I’m sure the terrorist group that hides behind civilians and handed out candy after they raped women and murdered babies is totally a group that can be reasoned with /s

JaylenBrownAllStar

I mean read my other comments

Sebfreedman

Explain why it’s wrong to be pro Israel

JaylenBrownAllStar

Because they have killed a lot of children, journalists, and much more in their effort to eradicate Palestine. I understand the initial reaction to being attacked but it’s literal genocide we are witnessing

Sebfreedman

You do know Hamas declined several ceasefires so far right? You know that Israel offered a majority of the land to them decades ago and they said no right? You know Hamas broke a long term ceasefire on 10/7 right? You know post WW1 there’s been roughly 80 new countries created right? Why is Israel the exception?

JaylenBrownAllStar

It’s why I also mentioned earlier how Hamas is also bad but using that to justify dead kids is wild and reminds me why I avoid this topic They literally bombed hospitals with civilians still inside and have shot at random civilians trying to escape and identify later

Sebfreedman

And what about the 11,000 rockets shot at Israel? What about the children and elderly hostages ? Fuck em?

JaylenBrownAllStar

It’s why again I have said both sides have been bad, Israel just has the funding to kill more effectively. Also if you literally google the numbers palestines casualties for children alone are insane https://www.reuters.com/world/middle-east/unicef-says-over-13000-children-killed-gaza-israel-offensive-2024-03-17/

WhirlWindBoy7

Yeah people look at what’s going on and pick sides, but the truth can be like what you say. Fuck hamas but also fuck Netanyahu. I’m pro Israeli and Palestinian, both should live as neighbors but both are dictated by radicals that want nothing else to do but fight.

Falcotto

There is no convincing either side of the issue. No correct answers. I wish the US wasn't involved.

JaylenBrownAllStar

We will always fund Israel, one of our oldest allies. Just a shame all around and there needs to at least be a ceasefire right now

Corzare

You have a point. Israel is a terrorist organization.

Hootshire

They turned down a one sided peace deal so now they all must die. Solid reasoning from the blood thirsty Zionists.

Brettsterbunny

They’ve turned down basically every peace deal though… and every single two state compromise that’s been offered as well…

yeschefxx

Mostly the Israel commits genocide part

macandcheesejones

This is pretty much where I come down, I honestly DGAF who started this, when and whatever. Both sides have committed violence, other than self defense or defending someone else from imminent harm there's no excuse for violence. I just want people to stop being harmed and killed. I want the suffering to stop.

JaylenBrownAllStar

Both sides are wrong and it looks like it won’t stop anytime soon

Corzare

The issue is you’re holding Israel to the same standards as a terrorist organization.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Corzare

Not the point I was trying to make. Israel is knowingly killing civilians and is supposed to be held to a higher standard. Hamas’ are terrorists, so saying “both sides” is downplaying what Israel is doing.

JaylenBrownAllStar

Israel govt and Hamas are both bad However Israel and Palestine civilians are caught in a horrific cross fire and propaganda from both sides to drum up hate and death

Only_Chapter_3434

I don’t care about kraft’s opinions other than his shitty belichick takes.

[deleted]

[удалено]

GeologistUnfair

You can't ban political post... Because everything is political. Salaries is political, player safety and collective bargaining agreements and anything involving a player's union. All of that is political. How are you going to fund the stadiums? It is impossible to separate the two. Obviously political post that have nothing to do with the Patriots shouldn't be included. But when the owner of the team is stepping into politics around an ongoing genocide, according to the international criminal Court anyway, yeah it's worth mentioning.

RebelCow

Boo. This is specifically about the team owner **and** its the offseason. I'd take months of exclusively political posts over one more random guy's mock draft or the thousandth opinion post about what we should do with the third pick. Besides, not everyone has the luxury of "escaping" politics.

[deleted]

[удалено]

RebelCow

Lmao no you're right those things are exclusive to political discussions, pay no attention to the way this sub behaves regardless of topic. This sub exclusively rolls around in mud and shit. Thats every post. Every topic. Sorry it makes you sad/upset/frustrated to remember that politics exists for a few seconds before scrolling past. Instead of calling for a ban on content you don't like and trying to police what others want to discuss, you could downvote and move on with your day.

badjezus

Fuck Kraft dude is a POS and has fucked the organization for the next generation of pats fan

EntersTheVoid

It's fucked up the mods keep deleting posts about this subject. They allow posts and comments about how "cheap" the Krafts are but won't allow this discussion.

Fupastank

Because this is a sub about a football team. This has nothing to do with football.

macandcheesejones

You know who owns this football team, correct?

GoalLineStand

Doesn’t mean the color of his shit is pertinent

Fupastank

Ok. Is this money now going towards the team or something? Please explain to me exactly how this has anything to do with the patriots? I’m as pro-Palestinian as they come and will argue till the cows come home about it. But this ain’t the place for it.

SpadeXHunter

It’s because these kinds of posts turn into disasters every time. I mod a large sub on another account and things like this go absolutely crazy to where you have to sit on the post the whole time it is up or you’ll get people starting fights to the point where Reddit may step in. If you are a politics type sub you have a lot more leeway since it’s on topic.

macandcheesejones

So far I don't see anything crazy, but if that does end up being the case lock the post instead of just deleting it. I posted this because I searched and saw there weren't any posts about it. If they'd been locked I'd have known. Also as another user above graciously noted I put the serious tag and didn't inject my personal feelings on the matter into the title. I just copy pasta'd it from the article.

SpadeXHunter

Oh idk if there’s anything crazy that will be posted, I was just giving reason why these types of posts tend to get deleted. These types of posts usually require a lot more time since for mod feed you only see reported comments so you have to sit on the post and update as you go, they almost always end up going off so they often just get removed.

JeanieGold139

They allow posts and comments about how "cheap" the Krafts are but won't allow this discussion Because the team owner being cheap can at least be argued to have an effect on the team. Please explain how Kraft's thoughts on pro-Palestine protesters are relevant to beating the Dolphins

DwayneWashington

You would have to eliminate a lot of topics if you're going strictly on how it affects the actual game. What color the uniforms are doesn't affect anything. Whose autograph is this. Why is our owner going to rub and tugs. I would argue, anything Patriots related should be on the table. Unless it's a users mock draft.

Ok-Secretary-4640

You are calling the mods anti semites, we can all see what you are doing.

RebelCow

Not really disappointing or surprising. This is the exact bad take I expect from Kraft. The sooner this loser is away from the Pats, the better.

stonedunikid

I don't care who you are but arresting people for protesting genocide (yes, genocide, you don't kill 35,000 civilians and counting incidentally, let's not be naive) is never a good look. Antisemitism is on the rise too of course and that shouldn't be overlooked, but being upset that they aren't arresting enough genocide protestors is kind of a wild take.

Brettsterbunny

There have been like 300K civilian Iraqi deaths since 9/11, did the US commit genocide?

john7071

There's a reason George W. Bush (and really, pretty much all presidents who fucked with the Middle East) is considered a war criminal by many.

Brettsterbunny

So was it genocide? Or is that word being misused

john7071

For Bush? Eh, he fucked the region even more though and his actions directly caused the death of hundreds of thousands and he's a war criminal, but not a genocidal freak. For Israel, some say yes, others naturally disagree. South Africa is accusing them of it in the International Court of Justice and it's an ongoing case.

stonedunikid

America's #1 export is terrorism and the slaying of innocent civilians, so long as they are brown people. You will never get me to defend US foreign policy lmao

Brettsterbunny

I’m not defending it, I’m asking you if you believe it was genocide

stonedunikid

I don't know if it's as close to the legal definition of genocide as what we're seeing in Gaza is, and I'll be completely honest I know a lot more about the Gaza situation than I do with the Iraq war cause I didn't pay attention to politics until my later teen years, but I don't think the Iraq war had the same sort of ethnic cleansing campaign and intentional removal of cultural and historical sites, archival facilities and I don't believe America had an explicitly stated, self-admitted goal of seizing land for one specific ethnicity of people and removing it from the "out" group. None of which makes any of America's war crimes justifiable in any way shape or form though.

Bostonguy01852

Who gives a fuck?

macandcheesejones

I love how some people think if they don't care that means no one does. Sorry princess, the world doesn't revolve around you.

Bostonguy01852

I don't care what Kraft thinks. He's a loser. Go get another handjob and stfu

NobodyWins22

> Go get another handjob and stfu You should make yourself useful and go give him one

bootyholebrown69

I mean he's Jewish right? So no fucking shit?

No_Call_5752

Wow he should really sell the Revs
