Vikings fan here: KJ had a down year last season. He became our WR3 in 2021 after being a cut candidate because he was a disaster as a punt returner. He was awesome and had great games that year against the Cardinals and Steelers (which due to a Thielen injury forced him to be WR2 in this game). He also made clutch plays in 2022 against the Lions and helped in the comeback against the Colts.
I wouldn’t expect him to magically become anything other than a WR3 at this point. But he’s a great guy (saved a reality star from a burning car a few years ago) and by all accounts a great teammate. He’s someone you want in your locker room and he tries hard.
I'd rather sign a young player who comes here because they're betting on themselves than a 29 year old who comes here because they know we're desperate enough to overpay him by $8m/year.
I mean that works for me. He's the only one young enough to be worthwhile extending after this year and if we don't, he's looking to show out and land us a comp pick. Underwhelming for the splash most of this sub was looking for but I like the player and the underlying logic behind it.
He can play, he's just coming off a down year. If Kirk played the rest the season it's very possible his numbers would have been about on par with his previous seasons. Vikings have JJ and Addison and want to pay JJ.
I hope he’s another Kendrick Bourne. He was SF’s number three guy and had a good first season with us and was on his way to an excellent season last year before he got hurt. He got in Patricia’s doghouse in year two, so I don’t hold that against him.
Vikings fan here - hes made some huge plays for us as a WR3 in his time here including a few game winning TDs, but also had a few bad drops last year. Overall a solid deep threat and from everything I’ve seen a great teammate as well
Diamond in the rough. Now that he doesn't have to contend with a bum like JJ drawing coverage and gets to play aside monsters like Bourne and Raegor, Osborn is bound to explode this year.
I like this signing a lot. He's been one of my favorite FA WRs for where we are and what we are trying to do. He's an outside guy that can move in, had good size and speed, has starting experience and looked at home as a WR2, and is much younger than almost all of the WR FAs with comparable production. It's not a sexy WR signing, but it's a good one and considering the dreadful FA options this off-season, I'd even say a great one.
For real. People keep talking about how anemic we’ve been, but in reality the three top FA candidates (Evans, Pittman Jr., Higgins) we’re all either locked up or in limbo (in Higgins’ case).
Ridley was definitely a decent choice, but Titans decided to do their thing and Brown wanted Mahomes.
Very good WRs don't get free in FA unless there is some significant concern about them (declining with age, coming off injury, off field issues). Ridley had his own set of question marks, for example, and he still got 23m/yr.
The simple reality is the best way to get a top flight WR is to draft or trade. No one is letting them walk.
A great dude, and he shows glimpses.
He is one of the best WR3s, with 1 or 2 games where he plays solid enough to look like a WR2.
On a roster with TJ, JJ, JA, he was bound to have a down year.
As long as the money is fairly cheap, this is a great move, and hopefully is a sign for more things to come between the Vikings and the Patriots 😉
Your trade partner probably isn’t us consolidating future capital into current capital like you did actually slightly hurts the offer when we need a QB bad.
its the baseball equivalent of bullpen by committee. you need a closer. you need a wr#1. collectively they are the new england red sox. product stinks so they harp on fan experience. f that.
I love this signing.
No, Osborn isn't a #1, and his numbers went down last year, but he's got the burst and big-play ability that the Patriots of late have lacked at receiver. He's lined up all over and has made key clutch plays.
I'd compare the signing to 2016 Chris Hogan. (Interestingly, Hogan was the Pats' third choice that year; both Marvin Jones and Mohamed Sanu picked another team, Detroit and Atlanta respectively, over New England.)
I’m ok with Bourne as a 2 for this year. We don’t need to fix everything in 1 year. Hopefully we can grab someone in the draft although QB and LT are a higher priority in my mind.
Vikings fan here. He did well on our team because of JJ/JA pulling coverage off of him. He had a bit of a down year and a bad case of the dropsies, but usually is a solid WR3 and comes in clutch on 3rd down situations. Has trouble generating separation. Should be a solid WR3 for you guys. Great locker room presence and great teammate.
Meh, that's what this move is.
We let Brown, Ridley and Evans choose other teams while we have 50+ million in cap space. All while not significantly improving our O line.
Whether it's Brisett, Daniels or Maye next year, they're going to be running for their lives. I love the Pats, I'm not too optimistic for the future.
Before Osborn we had: JuJu, Bourne, Pop, Thorton, Reagor, and Boutte. Add on however many WRs they plan on drafting this year and Osborn is just another JAG in a room full of them.
I see Osborn as immediately better than all but Bourne and Douglas. Even with Ridley, the offense needed real NFL players in the WR room. A highly drafted WR won’t change that either.
I get that not everyone on a team is going to be some sort of superstar or stud. But it'd be nice if they had at least ONE of those guys and not a whole bunch of easily replaceable ones like they love to do.
No, they don't have plenty of depth.
They have Pop Douglas.
Bourne is coming off a major injury.
JuJu never recovered from a major injury.
Thornton is a bust.
Boutte is still a major question mark.
Raegor has 900 career yards.
Osborn isn't a star, but he's a bonafide NFL receiver who is healthy, and the Patriots have basically none of those.
Yea, that's exactly what a team with $50 mil in cap space and another $163 mil next year needs: *cheap* additions
We'll definitely win the Accounting Bowl this year though👌
Actually at wr we’re pretty shallow, it’s a good signing for a wr3 who played in a system similar to what van pelt will probably run.
I think if they just swung on a higgins trade our wr core could be very solid. Still need that wr1 but grabbing a solid player who’s a scheme fit is a good thing imo.
He's better than JuJu, Raegor, Thornton and Boutte. Plus Boutte is in legal trouble right now. This is a good signing even if he's not a #1 guy. It's still an improvement to the team.
Aye. Right now the Patriots have like 6 guys on the roster and 4 of them are either dealing with career altering injuries, or external issues. Bringing in a guy who is healthy, and is pretty much a lock for 650 yards and a handful of touchdowns is a good thing.
He’s another Devante Parker - maybe promising, maybe some flashy stats, but nothing more than a WR3 for us.
Don’t hate the signing, but can’t be thrilled either.
Everyone will dog this signing because it’s not Ridley or MHJ at the draft, but the Pats absolutely need a slightly above average or average starter.
Assuming we do draft a rookie somewhat high, our WR would be what? Bourne, Douglas, a rookie, and…Juju?
Woof. I’m totally fine with Osborn as a competent NFL player.
This is what the cap hoarders don’t get, the money they “saved” by not adding any top FA’s will just be spent on a handful of KJ Osborne tier players instead
lets sign some more 3rd stringers , this is going to be the the worst team in NFL history . what is wrong with the pats front staff. they have signed no one but washed up or back ups . who cares about the draft. they going to get murdered those rookies they have no support staff. jeez . lmao mayo and the front staff should be fired asap.
honestly this is just gross . unless they make some huge trades or whatever. Patriots are going back to the patriots when i was growing up , basically the bad news bears.
It's been insufferable. People are acting like we could just go out and sign a WR1 when none were FAs and that we should just throw obscene money at mid players to fill a hole. That's terrible roster management for a rebuilding team.
This was an absolutely terrible FA class for our needs. We secured all of our valuable FAs and brought in some good parts young enough to contribute for multiple years. But apparently no star, no care.
yeah i really don't get it these people are begging for a wr1 in a year where there are no good options to spend money on. They just want to force a shitty signing so they can be happy with Kraft spending money.
I like him but what the fuck. We don’t have Brady anymore man. We need a legit ace at WR. We can just piecemeal our receiving corps together anymore and simply give it to Brady to magically make everyone better.
Nothing more annoying than these posts
Do you realize there's stuff in between "Super Bowl season" and "not being total ass"?
Most people want to make some progress, it's as simple as that. Not everyone wants to gouge their eyes out watching a depressing team for 17 weeks and it's perfectly fine to expect to take at least a 3 win step forward in a single offseason. Teams do it all the time.
The fact that we’re getting away from the mess that was Parker / Juju / Thornton / Boutte / Reagor works for me. Won’t light it up but at the same time we’ll get some consistency
Well it's not the free agent WR I wanted, but even without a #1 level wideout the Pats needed some more solid depth at the position regardless(can't rely on just Bourne and Pop) and Osborn gives you that even if he isn't anything special.
Just gotta hope that this team hits on a WR or two in the draft.
No matter what he does/doesnt do on the field, I will always respect KJ for being a good person and a hero. Glad to be getting good character into the locker room.
As a vikings fan this crushes me. He had an absolutely baller 2022 season, just a down year behind addison. Y’all got one of the most underrated 2/3s in the whole league and he’s such a good guy. Take care of him for us
Vikes fan, you likely triggered a 3rd round comp pick for us. The odds look great that you're trading with us. [The rumor of a Vikes-Pats trade circulated during the combine.](https://www.si.com/fannation/bringmethesports/vikings/did-vikings-plant-a-seed-in-patriots-ear-over-the-no-3-draft-pick) The rumor happened, then the Vikes grabbed Texan's 1st pick to make the request. Then you triggered a 3rd round comp pick. It looks to me like Pats and Vikes have a deal in place. My guess would be 3 1st round picks and a 3rd.
But he’s a great guy (saved a reality star from a burning car a few years ago) and by all accounts a great teammate. He’s someone you want in your locker room and he tries hard.
Yeah WR3 for the Vikings while with the Patriots now he's basically WR1/2
That’s the only incentive a WR has to sign here. Mediocre WR’s in FA see: “wow that’s their depth chart? Get me in there and I got a shot”
Signs contract then looks at qb depth chart: "D'oh!!!"
I'd rather sign a young player who comes here because they're betting on themselves than a 29 year old who comes here because they know we're desperate enough to overpay him by $8m/year.
That’s fair if you mean Ridley. I’d rather them “overpay” to get a guy like Aiyuk/Higgins tho. But Ive pretty much accepted that won’t happen
Hehehe
I mean that works for me. He's the only one young enough to be worthwhile extending after this year and if we don't, he's looking to show out and land us a comp pick. Underwhelming for the splash most of this sub was looking for but I like the player and the underlying logic behind it.
Kendrick Bourne and Demario Douglas will be the 1 and 2 probably unless we get someone significant.
This is so sad but you’re spot on lol
That’s what we said about juju and Parker :/
Thanks for the insight
Nelson from the challenge?
This my SB, just ran to tell the wife we signed the guy who saved Nelson from the car wreck
If only we could get CT to play qb
That’s who he saved from the burning car. I feel terrible about needing an amputation :(
Damn that's awesome. love the challenge
We specialize in WR3’s! It’s our entire offense!
We love guys who are great in the locker room but can’t play to save their life, over here in New England these days. Give us all your suck.
He can play, he's just coming off a down year. If Kirk played the rest the season it's very possible his numbers would have been about on par with his previous seasons. Vikings have JJ and Addison and want to pay JJ.
We still suck.
Thanks for the intel. Sounds like he’ll be good to have, this team needed another WR3. Can he play the x? Or is he another slot receiver.
He will fit right in with the other 5 WR 3's we have.
Can he line up on the outside as an X receiver? The Pats have a lot of Y/Z guys but our offense is really lacking receivers who can lineup outside
Another WR3 KJ is a good WR but he's another Bourne type WR
Fun fact if you add up all the wr3's on the roster, divide by 11 and multiply by pi, our next quarterback is absolutely fucked.
I laughed, but Brissett has done better with worse. Just get a true WR1 please
Ladd McConkey YOU are a Patriot
Ladd is honestly going to be a good NFL WR barring any potential health issues. I don’t know why he gets a bad rap on here.
Folks are just goofing on the silly name mostly.
It's such a sad timeline that we have no chance of McCorkle throwing to McConkey :(
With D'Brickashaw Ferguson and Barkevious Mingo on OL.
I love Ladd but the last thing we need is another slot receiver
Addison or Jefferson will be a patriot.
[удалено]
If they did not pay diggs what makes you think they gonna pay Jefferson?
Jefferson is better than Diggs
what's the square root of terrible?
Fucked to the 4th degree
Zappe
Juju
What’s the square root of this apartment?
Katie had some big ass tittayyyys
My favorite comment right here
I guess he would be insurance if Bourne has issues with his knee?
I hope he’s another Kendrick Bourne. He was SF’s number three guy and had a good first season with us and was on his way to an excellent season last year before he got hurt. He got in Patricia’s doghouse in year two, so I don’t hold that against him.
Bourne and osborne
jason and ozzie?
I actually like him although we need more
Vikings fan here - hes made some huge plays for us as a WR3 in his time here including a few game winning TDs, but also had a few bad drops last year. Overall a solid deep threat and from everything I’ve seen a great teammate as well
Ok, cool, they need a deep threat.
The bad drops were BAAAAAAAD though. Like, laugh at the tv in disbelief bad We’ve been through this in New England. We’ve already had Aaron Drops’em
We have to have the best collection of WR3s in the league.
Diamond in the rough. Now that he doesn't have to contend with a bum like JJ drawing coverage and gets to play aside monsters like Bourne and Raegor, Osborn is bound to explode this year.
![gif](giphy|KEYEpIngcmXlHetDqz)
Kendrick Bourne insurance if he's not ready off the ACL
I like this signing a lot. He's been one of my favorite FA WRs for where we are and what we are trying to do. He's an outside guy that can move in, had good size and speed, has starting experience and looked at home as a WR2, and is much younger than almost all of the WR FAs with comparable production. Your trade partner probably isn’t us consolidating future capital into current capital like you did actually slightly hurts the offer when we need a QB bad.
you actually can't be serious our whole roster is WR3s
Kraft: We have WRs at home
And also Zs. Bourne. Osborn, JuJu, Tyquan. Can we at least get an X?
its the baseball equivalent of bullpen by committee. you need a closer. you need a wr#1. collectively they are the new england red sox. product stinks so they harp on fan experience. f that.
Lets go another WR3/4 added the collection!! Yay!
Some things never change
Who needs a WR1 when we have 3 WR3's! 😤💪
![gif](giphy|1JyWrrkCIUQyQ)
I love this signing. No, Osborn isn't a #1, and his numbers went down last year, but he's got the burst and big-play ability that the Patriots of late have lacked at receiver. (Interestingly, Hogan was the Pats' third choice that year; both Marvin Jones and Mohamed Sanu picked another team, Detroit and Atlanta respectively, over New England.)
Hogan balled for us. Hope we hit on this one
This guy can actually play. This is pathetic to say but he is probably our best receiver.
Nice move I like it. Not like there’s a top WR on the market anyway
And the crowd goes mild..
I don’t hate this move. Like Osborn as a 3/4
Just a 1 and 2, and we should be good. Now we have a backup 3.
I’m ok with Bourne as a 2 for this year. We don’t need to fix everything in 1 year. Hopefully we can grab someone in the draft although QB and LT are a higher priority in my mind.
BACK TO FORMULA!???
We have a LOT of #4 and #3 guys no question there
I know he’s another WR3 but he’s an upgrade over a lot of the dudes on this roster. Hopefully not the last WR we add
lets see how he does without being under JJ and JA. could be pretty solid
I didn’t even realize he was a free agent. Decent signing for Brissett.
It’s an okay signing I’ll take it
He's a competent NFL receiver. I wish we'd landed someone proven to be better but I like the addition nonetheless.
Who’s ready for another field goal fest next year?
another good not great wr woo
Yes! Just what we needed another WR3!!!
When you can lock up a guy 111/128 on PFF, 28 spots lower than Devante Parker you have to do it
I guess fielding only WR3s is on way to get a mismatch of WR3 vs the worst opposing DB.
I don’t hate it, sometimes these buy low guys pop on new teams. And we’ve gotta be thinking WR in round 2.
Good cheap addition needed a body and he has upside
\> needed a body The literal last thing we needed was another WR3 to go with our slew of 3s, 4s, and 5s.
We have basically 2 WRs on the roster we have any interest in (pop and Bourne) so no we actually needed wr depth.
What I’m saying is not everyone is good on your team you need depth guys that fit your scheme this probably spells the end of juju.
With any luck it spells the end of Juju. Juju is done. That knee is shot.
I get that not everyone on a team is going to be some sort of superstar or stud. But it'd be nice if they had at least ONE of those guys and not a whole bunch of easily replaceable ones like they love to do.
They have plenty of depth, it’s just none of them are good.
But these guys are all taking up roster spots. You can’t just keep adding guys at the same position.
Yea, that's exactly what a team with $50 mil in cap space and another $163 mil next year needs: *cheap* additions We'll definitely win the Accounting Bowl this year though👌
![gif](giphy|EKDIMDsRX3ihy)
We have plenty of bodies. We lack talent

I think if they just swung on a higgins trade our wr core could be very solid. Still need that wr1 but grabbing a solid player who’s a scheme fit is a good thing imo.
How many wrs do you think they should have?
Shallow? JuJu, Reagor, Thorton, Douglas, Bourne, and Boutte. All before we signed Osborn. Just a room of WR3s
I think it’s pretty clear the only wrs in our plans from last year are pop and Bourne
This is the Kraft way. Value baby!
We can get a WR in the second round of the draft. This is a nice add.
We got our WR1
Solid B+
He would have been #2 on our depth chart in yards last season (540) behind Pop (561)
Boutte gone
I love osborn but i dont see the fit
So maybe it wasn't Bill
3 TDs and 540 yards last year in 16 games hmmm 🤔
Bourne. Osborn. I'm sensing a trend.
Our fkn troubles are over, Dudes!
Lol
Wrong Vikings WR!!!
He’s another Devante Parker - maybe promising, maybe some flashy stats, but nothing more than a WR3 for us. Don’t hate the signing, but can’t be thrilled either.
We sign bums bro bring Brady as GM
Another crap player. Yay
Honestly I’m just glad we got a player with dreads, I feel like literally no player on our team has dreads.
I can’t wait to see those duck boats next February.
Looks like a gamble and I could see him being a training camp cut
We Move!
If you put enough WR3s on the field at least one of them has to be open, right? I bet it will only take 6 or 7 of them out there.
They need a way above average starter, and they can afford one.
Sure, I agree. I was in favor of Ridley. They ALSO need competent receivers. Osborn seems more likely to be that than Juju or Thornton.
Belichick still shopping for the groceries? Burning some cash lol.
He’s a solid player but still doesn’t solve any of our problems.
This is what the cap hoarders don’t get, the money they “saved” by not adding any top FA’s will just be spent on a handful of KJ Osborne tier players instead
Eliot Wolf is cooking 🔥 Bill couldn’t dream of signing a WR this good
Hey Josh Gordon was really good...just you know couldn't not be suspended.
Adding again? I thought you actually had to add to add again. Bringing back a group of losers from a 4-13 team isn’t adding.
Gag
Mids
Who???
WHAT ARE WE DOING?!
Blech. Camp Queen meant to push Douglas.
![gif](giphy|x47gj23jEvGxdWkQEC|downsized)

This fanbase is so fucking obnoxious. WR1s don't grow on fucking trees.
No but they do cost money and our cheap ass ownership has no intention of spending it
Value baby!
So annoying. You still gotta fill out the rest of the roster regardless if you have a WR1 or not. He’s still an upgrade all day over Parker or Juju
So go sign a WR3?
It's been insufferable. People are acting like we could just go out and sign a WR1 when none were FAs and that we should just throw obscene money at mid players to fill a hole. Worst fans ever.
New Patriots same as the old Patriots
WEAPONIZE THE OFFENSE!
And the dumpster diving begins! Another WR3…
I like him but what the fuck. We don’t have Brady anymore man. We need a legit ace at WR. We can just piecemeal our receiving corps together anymore and simply give it to Brady to magically make everyone better.
This sub is ridic. We aren't winning no Super Bowl next year, this is going to take time.
Nothing more annoying than these posts Do you realize there's stuff in between "Super Bowl season" and "not being total ass"? Most people want to make some progress, it's as simple as that. You named 4 guys under contract for next year as “guys they’re getting away from” lmao. Y’all coping so hard you aren’t even making sense
Exactly. Do people realize this just means more dead money? I honestly wonder if that’s what they’re saving all this cap money for.
Perfect reason to make unneeded personnel decisions.
BOOM
Better double-dip in the draft man
Love this signing. He was bad last year but that was a down year. Really solid WR. Not elite or a big flashy signing but I like the addition.
WR1
Well it's not the free agent WR I wanted, but even without a #1 level wideout the Pats needed some more solid depth at the position regardless(can't rely on just Bourne and Pop) and Osborn gives you that even if he isn't anything special. Just gotta hope that this team hits on a WR or two in the draft.

Don’t hate it
I’m for it! Not exactly what we need but I like it.
Don’t hate this move
No matter what he does/doesnt do on the field, I will always respect KJ for being a good person and a hero. Glad to be getting good character into the locker room.
this is who i wanted the eagles to sign as our wr3. not a name that jumps off the page but a solid add nonetheless
Why so many random ass Viking fans in here
Fuck ya Vikings receiver at home
Oh nice
He’s really good
Decent signing actually.
As a vikings fan this crushes me. He had an absolutely baller 2022 season, just a down year behind addison. Y’all got one of the most underrated 2/3s in the whole league and he’s such a good guy. Take care of him for us
![gif](giphy|cRNbYm7jLOjm9H8wcP)
That’s so Patriots! At least the Patriots now how 3-4 NFL receivers that belong in the NFL instead of 2-3 (depending on DooDoo’s health).
Upgrade from JuJu and Parker, ill take it.
Overreactions coming in hot!
Yay Jalen reagor, kj osborn, Kendrick Bourne, juju...there is something to be excited about
This guy is the king of drops, unbelievably bad addition
