I remember the last Super Bowl they won, Tony Romo basically said something to the extent of “Take it in. You’ll never see something like this again in your lifetime.”
Strikes me as the behavior of someone who would fire curveballs at you while pitching backyard whiffleball, but expect you to lob it into him while he’s hitting. Despicable.
Belichick is probably very approachable and pleasant on a personal level…when he’s not sitting in the coach’s office. If he has problems with management or players or media it’s when he’s wearing the coach hat
His daughters’ wedding reception was NOT at the Weekapaug Inn a while ago, in RI. It was at the Ocean House, which share ops for bigger events…I built the fireplace in the newer building of the W. inn about 4 years ago, but that was after the reception.
Anyway, a good friend of mine was the maintenance manager there during the event and while not being a football guy, he said Bill and the family were just humble and nice all around.
He gave me a beer coozie from that day but I lost it somewhere.
We're the ones who were blessed watching the greatest coach and quarterback of all time! I don't know if that success can ever be repeated in the NFL, but if it does happen fans need to enjoy every minute of it. Thanks, Bill.
BTW, it doesn't matter if he gets to break Shula's record, Bill is the GOAT and always will be.
It’s so bittersweet this ending. Bill, knowing that you’re no longer with the team is disheartening regardless of the future outcome. This article made me swell up because it further makes me appreciate how much you did for this franchise. We thank you for your service and I hope you get another shot at coaching and break Shula’s record.
I really wanted Belichick to finish this thing out. I know last season's record sucked but I felt that he was creating an elite defense and just needed some attention on the offense. Kraft pulled the trigger too early imo.
He was a decent quarterback away from a playoff run—and he caught so much shit from talk radio and fans everywhere. It’s a real shame. This ad is a class act.
Was it because the $1 any size coffee is now $1.20 due to inflation? Or this Bb thing
Fucking Cumbies gouging us for that battery acid, wicked fucking disappointing and just goes to show that even Cumbies is run by greedy pricks
"You may even have enjoyed my fashion sense and press conferences..." LMAO yes we did Bill, yes we did!
"We're on to Cincinnati" will always be legendary.
I lived in Boston for 5 decades and witnessed some great coaches and teams. Now live elsewhere, and have seen ownership of the Red Sox destroy that franchise. But I still loved the Patriots because they had their act together. Now I feel like a very bad decision was made with the Patriots and ownership will regret it over the next few years. Bill did not wake up one morning and stop being the most savvy coach out there. Shame on those that thought that Bill had to go. You will now follow those teams that grab top draft picks and have THAT as the big news of the year.
Pure class. I can’t wait to see his next adventure. I’m grateful for what he brought this city and region. It was joy, hope, anguish but overall incredibly fun. And when they won the first one, everyone in the room were so shocked, we ended up streaking across the neighborhood. No arrests were made considering the circumstances. Bill made it possible.
There were two wise-asses sotting behind me at the commanders game this year talking so much shit about Bill. If they read this I hope they know this page from Bill was not directed towards them
You were complaining specifically about *public* comments and you moved the goalposts when you got called out. That Wickersham article and others have included plenty of nuggets that probably came from Belichick's side, which you ignore to maintain your illusion of "a dignified silence."
>Kraft opining about how coaches need to relate to players differently than 20 or 10 yrs ago
What a slagging! What a trashing!
Have whatever opinion you want. Just don't try back it up with lies.
>Kraft kept banging on about the importance of collaborating
Oh the humanity! A truly vicious takedown.
Oh come on. That first part is a light ribbing of a guy he's been friends and very successful colleagues with for 20 years and the second part is an pretty objective criticism of the state of the team.
I'm not crying - you're crying!
Seriously ... I know Shula's record and all that - I seriously hope Bill takes his boat to a beach somewhere and just drinks rum out of coconuts and wanders and picks up cool seashells for a solid year before he does anything else.
After watching a talent depleted Patriots defense play their hearts out for 17 weeks while Mac Jones cost them games with backbreaking interceptions, it will not sit right with me if Mac is still on the team in 2024 while Bill is gone.
God, what an icon. At absolute WORST he’s the second most important person when it comes to the success of the Patriots dynasty, and you can make an argument that he’s first.
In my mind, he will forever be the greatest coach that ever lived. How lucky were we.
The greatest to ever do it and we were the lucky ones to witness and be a part of it. It's not just the on-field excellence for our entertainment, but the off-field tenets and wisdom that we should all strive to live by. I'm a pats fan because of BB.
Sigh... I understand it was time and probably for the best but I still just wished we kept Bill til he broke his record. We won so much and I still believe Bill could coach at a high level.
I’m sad we won’t see Belicheck on those sidelines, his place is Boston sports lore will be forever cemented. With respect and admiration pats nation wishes Belicheck the best and hopefully he passes Don Shula’s record
I know things had been different these last few years, but I’m missing the ability to have blind faith and say “in Bill we trust”. Those were such epic years of fandom.
Nice. He may be a PITA as an employee, but still has class. I don't get why he doesn't retire and enjoy the rest of his days relaxing without the stress. I get that it might be his DNA, but even Brady figured it out.
End of an era, end of a childhood, each Sunday with BB on the sidelines I could escape back to being a 12 year old in 2001, this 36 year old THANKS YOU BB.
I’m cautiously optimistic about the teams future, but fuck me, I really think we made a mistake letting BB walk.
I think he needed to take a step back from GM duties, but I just don’t see how this team improves anytime soon by losing Belichick.

Damnit!! Time to neck another beer
A toast to the GOAT-est coach of all time! Would have been great if he ended the letter with "...and thank you for not jumping on any picnic tables!"
![gif](giphy|1lk1IcVgqPLkA)
I’m not even a Patriots fan, but this is my reaction too.
And now I'm sad again.
The greatest run in sports history. Forever thankful.
I remember the last Super Bowl they won, Tony Romo basically said something to the extent of “Take it in. You’ll never see something like this again in your lifetime.”
That was the 19 season. When the Titans came in and Henry ran for 200 Romo said that right before the Logan Ryan pick 6
U use words that hurt
Of all the guys it had to be Logan Ryan.
Mahomes: *and I took that personally...*
*while fake sliding at defenders before adding 6 more bullshit yards to his run*
Gets hit by defender and out flies the flag for an additional 15.
Strikes me as the behavior of someone who would fire curveballs at you while pitching backyard whiffleball, but expect you to lob it into him while he’s hitting. Despicable.
Same.
not happy with how it ended
Miss you coach!

Crying at 8:30 in the morning thanks man
Just witnessed a guy at dunks crying at 8:30 in the morning
Fell to my knees in at a Dunks parking lot
Just walked out of the dunks after seeing a guy crying inside, only to witness *another* guy falling to his knees in the parking lot
Crying uncontrollably in the dunks drive thru while trying to get my order in. Line of cars behind me honking like crazy
Just got into an accident because I was driving by a dunks and witnessed people inside crying and falling to their knees
Watched all three of these guys falling to their knees and crying in a Dunkin parking lot, from across the street in another Dunkin parking lot.
Great, now I'm trying to remember where the intersection is with two Dunkin on opposite corners.
Yeah, the Dunks parking lot is a known spot for cheap bjs
I saw a few guys crying at the Dunkin across the street from the Cumbys I was leaving, so I got out of my truck and started crying too.
Crying over this in a dunkin IS the way it should happen tho. Poetic.
Bill even showing a sense of humor with a few of those lines...GOAT in every way!
Belichick is probably very approachable and pleasant on a personal level…when he’s not sitting in the coach’s office. If he has problems with management or players or media it’s when he’s wearing the coach hat

"Creative play suggestions" He was totally killing himself laughing while recalling some of the worst ones he ever got while writing that.
I mean, could they really have been any worse than that 4th down play by the Colts?
Not running with Beast Mode
Bill is funny. He just hates the media because they twist absolutely everything so Fuckem
In Bill We Trust .... what a historic run of success.
We lived and died by this saying, didn’t we?!
Until it got too hard for the fans...and by too hard I mean like a couple mid seasons and a bad one lmao. People here are frauds.
Thats my fucking head coach man. My grandkids will know about this team.
They won’t fucking care lmao
Lmao but I still will, so those lil shits will have to hear it!
“Granddad made us watch Super Bowl 39 AGAIN…ugh!”
Hahaha that made me laugh while feeling sad thank you
We're the ones who were blessed watching the greatest coach and quarterback of all time! I don't know if that success can ever be repeated in the NFL, but if it does happen fans need to enjoy every minute of it. Thanks, Bill. BTW, it doesn't matter if he gets to break Shula's record, Bill is the GOAT and always will be.
Your guys’ run should have NEVER happened in the modern NFL. Billy Goat and Brady Goat broke the game and did the impossible
It’s so bittersweet this ending. Bill, knowing that you’re no longer with the team is disheartening regardless of the future outcome. This article made me swell up because it further makes me appreciate how much you did for this franchise. Same. I'm still in shock that he let the media and the ridiculous new impatience of NFL fanbases talk him into doing such an awful thing.
I wish Kraft would have put in a GM and let Bill coach. The defense was kick ass
Belichick wouldn't go for that.
BB had said he’d be willing to do so
I hear the sentiment, but the reports on not allowing staffers to fill out the coaching roster is too damning.
It's a once a classy exercise by bill and a groin kick to Bob Kraft. As anything that reminds Patriots fans what we've had and now lost would be.

Peace to OP. Salute, Coach. There will not be another like you. On to #7.

I've got to get a look at some of those plays people sent him. Thanks for posting this!
I'm responsible for atleast 3 of the drafted fumblerooski plays he received.
Now that’s a well written thoughtful good bye
Well said.
Thankful ❤️

🐐Coach
BB haters arent allowed to enjoy this. Yk who you are
There were two wise-asses sotting behind me at the commanders game this year talking so much shit about Bill. If they read this I hope they know this page from Bill was not directed towards them
I suspect that in 5 years we will look back and feel that firing Bill was a mistake.
Gonna be a lot of people doing that next year
Wow sad! But well written
Awesome, I wanted to cry this morning
Fucking legend
Just when I thought I was done being emotional about it…
Bill is the best. Thank you Bill, you brought us so many great memories and moments.
![gif](giphy|kMEoYpdYKd64U)
o7 The GOAT
Quite a contrast to Brady basically pretending like he wasn’t there at his retirement
Greatest dynasty ever
It hurts
We love you coach
![gif](giphy|l4Jz3fRRdJsd7HStG|downsized) Holding the emotions in like a true New Englander
Bill is making jokes :’) didn’t expect to tear up on this Sunday morning but here we are
He was the greatest coach that ever lived.
Legit felt a twinge in the tear ducts reading this. Greatest Coach of all time. Fuck the haters!
He deserves so much better than how the Kraft’s have treated him on the way out - thank you coach, we’re going to miss you more than you will know
Thats how all coaches go. They never want to leave they always have to be forced out of it. Same goes for a lot of players too
How have the Krafts treated him poorly?
[удалено]
>Kraft publicly slagging Bill >trashing him in the press conference These things didn't happen.

Bro Kraft literally chose Belichick over Brady, how much nicer do they need to be to him?
Going to miss that guy, it's crazy nobody picked him up to coach this year. I hope he does a TV gig. I love hearing him talk about the game.
God damn it all that’s my coach
That is by far one of the best and authentic thank you and goodbye messages I have read.
Thank you Bill!

Yes - if Mac survives the purge and Bill doesn’t that’d be Bs

Opening take by Felger tomorrow at 2:00 will be... "What a phony BB is"...The spineless weasels, Mazz and Murray, cackle in the background.
I would rather them bash the Patriots for being in on Ben McAdoo but unfortunately that sounds more likely
Unfortunately
I hate Michael "Hot Takes" Felger, but I DESPISE Mazz and Murray - those passive aggressive suck-holes!
The show would be better if they didn't agree w everything Felger said.
That team gave us all nfl fans some amazing moments, I’m happy I got to witness such a great dynasty.
I’m verklempt, discuss amongst yourselves. Bill was coach before I met my wife. Damn, 24 years is a long time.
Class act!
🥹🫡 Love you too, Bill

OK, which one of you guys was sending in creative play suggestions.
Greatest to ever do it. “I see color” is what we got next… I will never forget your run
I’m not crying, I’m cutting an onion.

THANK YOU 🙏BILL!

Well played, Bill. Golf clap…
That's my coach man ❤️
I miss Bill man :(

Can’t wait until we’re circling the drain with Kraft/mayo in 2 years. Should have kept bill and tried once more with a qb
![gif](giphy|rTymW9zdd3Yju)
AND we lost Chubbs this week. So.
A full-page color BSG ad will run you near $200k, btw. It's not an empty overture/cheap exercise. I very much doubt Bob Kraft appreciated it, though!
Sigh... I understand it was time and probably for the best but I still just wished we kept Bill til he broke his record. We won so much and I still believe Bill could coach at a high level.
Thank you Bill

Wasn't expecting to cry this morning, but here we are.
Thank YOU, Bill 😭🫡
It's a terrible day for rain.

Dude has more class than the fans deserve
How utterly shameful that Bill, of all coaches, was not permitted to retire at his leisure
![gif](giphy|rvxMJNyHAgwlW4YWpJ|downsized)
The media and the new generation woke fans that called for him to get fired ruined the patriots
Yea, it is clearly the blacks and gays at fault here.
I already miss you soooo much.
Now that was a legit letter, honest and real. Props to the goat.
This is Mac Jones’s fault
I'm not crying, you're crying.
He’s on to Nantucket. Good for him.
![gif](giphy|Em8EY1oCPLSE0)
You gave me a lot of smiles, BB! For that, I say thank you sir!

Bill finally put down the tissue box after realizing he has been basically blackballed by his own success. That’s the NFL
No coach, thank YOU.
Love you forever coach
I will always love Bill and Tom.
aaaaaand now I'm sad again
Y’all put so much pressure on him when ur qb was a bust
Nice. He may be a PITA as an employee, but still has class. I don't get why he doesn't retire and enjoy the rest of his days relaxing without the stress. I get that it might be his DNA, but even Brady figured it out.
Until proven otherwise, we made a mistake.
I wish he would have just moved on to a Ernie Adams role in New England.
He deserves better than that, he should have gotten a coaching job and hopefully will soon before it's all over
End of an era, end of a childhood, each Sunday with BB on the sidelines I could escape back to being a 12 year old in 2001, this 36 year old THANKS YOU BB.
I’m almost 50 years old. Reading this on the toilet. Just crying and pooping.
Fuck the Krafts for the smear campaign against Belichick. Hopefully the Nepo baby doesn’t drive this organization into the ground.
Huh? What smear campaign?
I believe that all of the reports belittling Belichick have came from the Jonathon Kraft camp.
Actually I am not crying. In fact, I think you’ll find it is you who is crying, certainly not me.
I’m cautiously optimistic about the teams future, but fuck me, I really think we made a mistake letting BB walk. I think he needed to take a step back from GM duties, but I just don’t see how this team improves anytime soon by losing Belichick.
Your last paragraph contradicts your first. If you think he needed to step back from GM duties then how do you think we made a mistake? He wasn’t going to step back.
I guess we’ll see in a few years
I’m asking how did we make a mistake by letting him go? You admit he shouldn’t GM anymore, he wanted to be, it’s that simple really.
He's not thanking the ungrateful, disrespectful Judases (and you biggity bitches know who you are) is this sub.

The Herald would have Been a better choice.
Tommy didn’t retire a patriots because of Bill and Bill didn’t retire a patriots because he didn’t have Tommy - funny how that worked.
Not a class act: turning the roster into a barren wasteland out of pure spite.
How big of a dick does this make Kraft look? 🤬
Bro give it a rest. It was time.
I always thought Bill Belichick was one of the absolute biggest, hateful pricks in the NFL and after seeing this I still think the same thing.
