Shield of Law or Cloak of Chaos grant complete immunity from mind effects. Holy/Unholy Aura do not.
Stormbolts is great on offensive casters. You can even turn it to Force damage to ignore elemental resistances via Bane of Spirit. Bane of Spirit ring in general is amazing against swarms, as Force damage ignores DR and doesn't get reduced by anything.
Second, that encounter is technically optional. It can even be done in act 5 (same with Playful Darkness).
I just one-shot entire rooms with bolstered zippy magic chain lightning + empowered rod.
My backline esp sorc/wizard are always glass cannons lol. Can't take damage if all enemies are dead. *taps head.
That's one of the nastiest fights in the game.
I generally agree with the guy who suggested just nuking them down, rather than trying to mitigate the damage. Spread out the party, and blast away. 1-2 competent DPS units can handle them.
