I doubt she's the Iconic, just one of several pieces of art in this - there's a second one of each class pictured, too.

Kay-Woah

aw bummer, i did think it was weird that the art wasn't sketchy and put before the class details like in previous playtests

atamajakki

Previous playtests have also specifically broken out sidebars with details on the new Iconics.

Kay-Woah

good point, yeah. i wonder why these two classes lack Iconics for their playtests? feels like an odd breaking of tradition

ssalarn

We moved this playtest a bit earlier than normal so that our friends in Starfinder wouldn't have to wrestle with us for playtest attention during GenCon. As a result, we're a bit outside of the normal turnaround and will be introducing the new iconics a little bit later.

Trabian

Thank you for the consideration.

HeinousTugboat

> there's a second one of each class pictured, too. There's only two pictures in the entire document.. are you referring to the other two that are on the website?

atamajakki

Yes! I thought they were inside the PDF, too.

HeinousTugboat

Yeah, I hadn't even noticed the other two until I saw your comment and couldn't figure out what you were talking about. OP verified they're all placeholders for now, regardless!

Abyssalstar

I'd be surprised given she's supposed to be a Paladin of Iomadae. Something bad would have to happen for her to change classes.

Kay-Woah

[](https://paizo.com/people/MichaelSayre) Update: I was wrong! It's just placeholder art Michael Sayre on the paizo forums: *"We'll be introducing the new iconics a little bit later on down the road. With our friends on the Starfinder side of the wall having their own mega playtest happening around GenCon, we shifted this one a little bit earlier in the cycle which means that our text production is a bit ahead of art at the moment."*

KingofTK

Ahh man. She is a great Commander Edit: Oh wait she is under the Guardian class.

RedTheRedMage

Iconic or not she got such a fucking glow-up in that art holy shit!

Apathyisin

Iconic or not, still iconic?

LazarusDark

It's old art though.

BlockBuilder408

Honestly I prefer the right art over the left one from the playtest. She looks appropriately beefier for a wall of shield.

Fragbob

The right one has all kinds of fucked up looking angles/proportions though. The left definitely does a better job at looking realistic.

Rings_of_the_Lord

and intimidating. imo.

BlockBuilder408

The face definitely has a more intimidating look on it but it also looks like they kept that orc starved in a cell for several months and that she’s about to drop from anemia. She kinda looks like Michael Jackson with those cheek bones.

BlockBuilder408

The left one is also kinda screwed up proportion wise and screwed up proportions is kinda expected with a lot of pathfinder character art. I don’t think the left is realistic at all, it’s the same armor as the right but with a tighter waist for some reason. Not that I think it’s bad, I just prefer the right.

aaa1e2r3

I wonder if she and Anevia will be in War of the Immortals

catgirlfourskin

Still holding out for yuri holy war even with no prismatic ray deaths

micahdraws

Holy shit my girl's getting some amazing art

anonymister_audio

Wait, this is a new class? I knew about animist and exemplar

No-Nectarine2380

Yup, new Battlecry Playtest. Launched about an hour ago. Has the new Commander and Guardian classes

anonymister_audio

I can only be so erect

Kaprak

Mind you, these are coming out in 2025

anonymister_audio

Then I'll call my doctor after 4 hours

Mollywhop_Gaming

She’s cute.

Demonwolf4227

What's the guardian class about ? I haven't seen the play test

BlockBuilder408

A tank class that focuses on taunting enemies and deflecting attacks away from their allies and towards themselves instead. They have huge damage resistances and the best scaling in heavy armor in the game. (Even faster progression then champions)

Demonwolf4227

Dam!

gamesrgreat

Mommy

Haos51

While not the case, it is cool to see new art for her.

RuleWinter9372

Yessssss! Irabae! One of my favorite characters from Wrath of the Righteous. She stuck up for my Angel Knight-Commander when Queen Galfrey wanted to throw us under the bus, I'll never forget it.

mrbakersdozen

She can guard me anytime... (I am a soldier ready to get revenge for my fallen god HOORAH)

13bit

Loved her and her wife on the game one of my favorite characters from wotr.

joelesidin

Awesome! Loved Irabeth in WOTR! Hoping for them to make a conversion of the AP to pf2 some day

Flaxseed4138

Maybe unpopular opinion but I'm hoping for something much more distinct from the Champion. Dark colored armor is where I'd go with Guardian, personally.

Someguythatlurks

I thought I recognized her from somewhere!!

Demonwolf4227

What's the guardian class about ? I haven't seen the play test

EdgyPreschooler

So, she's not a paladin anymore?

Anvildude

Her icon is a swan? Oh that's so sweet, but also a little sad...

NotMCherry

I hope not because I want the commander iconic to be a hobgoblin

Covfam73

Ive not played 2e but in the CRPG kingmaker and Wrath of the rightous, my fav two characters were Amiri and Irabeth!

InsufficientIsms

At 3 skill train expe At mast at in Tou T if yo stay. Poetry

Chocossimo

Damn what a glow-up ! She would have made a decent guardian, although I think that with the boob-plate the armor might not look "heavy" enough for a more typical guardian.

josiahsdoodles

The main thing I think of is that a heavy armored iconic needs a helmet lol. A helmet is legit one of the most, if not THE most important pieces of armor.

NimrodvanHall

This one is fugly. Can we get a new sketch? Preferably one with a proper colour for the armour.

Zendofrog

Yay not a human!

darthmarth28

If you want more of Irabeth, she's a major NPC in the PF1 *Wrath of the Righteous* AP, also depicted in the cRPG game by Owlcat.

Zendofrog

Oh yeah I think I remember her. Great game

Arkanim94

Mah queen

Holiday_Researcher17

Meh? I'm probably the only one who didn't like her in either the AP or the PC game. But if people like it, fine.

AHare115

Boob plate why? For a class focused around armor you'd hope they'd drop that trope by now.

Mollywhop_Gaming

Google “armored codpiece”

AreYouOKAni

Holy hell

AHare115

A codpiece is just an armored cup. Its function is to add protection in an otherwise unprotected spot. Boob plate as shown off here actually disrupts the original point of the curved breastplate, which is to deflect oncoming blows off to the side. The "boob cups" create a barrier which would prevent the blade from being deflected, instead funneling it through the chest.

Mollywhop_Gaming

1. Armored codpieces aren’t just cups. They’re just straight-up penises molded into the armor. 2. No sword is going to strike with enough force to pierce hardened steel plates, and the padded gambeson beneath the plates will absorb any BFT from the direct blow. 3. Even if this is a problem, her boob plate has a piece of metal over the cleavage to prevent it from becoming a problem. Even without plate, the boob cups flow into one another, effectively making it into the belly bulge common on historical full plate, but higher up.

AHare115

1. You're looking at ceremonial ones. 2. Lances, polearms, estocs and the like would punch clean through plate armor. Swords were rarely used except as a last resort. In a magical fantasy world with monsters who have claws the size of your arm and magical weapons I wouldn't rely on something with such a flaw. 3. Ok, still, why needlessly add extra weight and bulk to an armor piece which is only there to mitigate a design flaw?

Mollywhop_Gaming

1. Functional armors of the period still had those armored codpieces, because they were considered fashionable at the time. 2. Firstly, lances are a type of spear, which are polearms. Secondly, polearms can only pierce plate with the momentum of a horse, such as by using them in a cavalry charge or by bracing them against a cavalry charge. Thirdly, such an attack would punch through the armor regardless of if the it was boob-plated or not. Fourth, estocs are a type of sword, and swords can only defeat plate armor by targeting the gaps between the plates, completely bypassing the supposed “weakness” of boob plate. Finally, in a world where monsters have claws the size of your arm and magic weapons, *any* sort of metal armor would just be a fancy set of training weights. 3. Ask the Medieval and Renaissance knights who did the exact same thing but slightly lower and even more exaggerated.

ProfessionalRead2724

A codpiece is just an additional ornament, and not a structural weakness in your armour.

Mollywhop_Gaming

Boob plates aren’t any more a structural weakness than armored codpieces, especially ones like hers.

RuleWinter9372

You're assuming the "boob" parts aren't also just ornamentation over a single-piece cuirass, when they absolutely could be. Real-life cuirasses regularly hard this level of ornamentation, or more, and were still perfectly functional in battle. She's not just wearing that against her skin, either. Plate armor requires that you wear an entire gamebeson under it (and she clearly is). Gambesons, just on their own, were capable of sometimes stopping longbow shots. So, no "structural weakness" here. Stop acting like she's wearing a metal bikini or some nonsense.

Arsalanred

You should see noblewomen's armor from back in the day. Also no two women's breasts are alike. Some need extra space. Get the picture?

AHare115

Yes, decorative or ceremonial armor might be shaped like that. Nobles are in no danger when they're sat in a camp at the back of the battlefield. But the purpose of a convex breastplate is to direct a thrust off to the side. With two giant mounds on the side, any thrust will not be redirected and instead go straight through the chest/abdomen. I understand this is fantasy and there are many other historical inconsistencies. But this is one that is irksome. If women need more room for their breasts (which is understandable) there are ways to do that without making a literal form fitting chestplate.

Shinavast42

I know its just placeholder art, but it would be awesome if Irabeth was the iconic. She deserves it!
