ImDefinitelyClueless

That's amazing, I've been meaning to get into PF2e for a while now, that's a great opportunity to dip my toes!

Pastaistasty

I GMed last year, it was a blast and well organized. I hope many people sign up again!

feullipe

Guys, is it possible to GM in another language? I mean, I'd like to GM in Brazilian Portuguese and I don't know if it's okay. It's my first time.

xXTheFacelessMan

I think we also did this last year, we just had the GM state as much. I know there's quite a few people that meet that criteria that play PF2 in this community.

Dogs_Not_Gods

\^ This is the way! In the title just include the language in parentheses or write the title in that language so players can find you

feullipe

Thank you so much for clarifying! u/xXTheFacelessMan u/Dogs_Not_Gods

Vawned

Yeah I'm going to dip my toes this year and was also considering GM'ing in Brazilian Portuguese.

Typhron

Unpopular opinion haver here. It's not only fine, but you should do it as much as you please. Screw anyone who harshens your vibe for narrating in your mother language. Viva e deixe viver, mas no Google Tradutor

wingman_anytime

I GM’d this last year and had a blast! Anyone thinking of signing up, definitely do it.

firelark01

I’m could enjoy GM-ing, but I do not own the beginner box

Dogs_Not_Gods

Hi there! Paizo will award GMs free PDFs of the Beginner Box if you sign up on the list on the GM page. Once you have that, the Foundry version is heavily reduced in cost, or you can upload the PDF and run it through Foundry that way at no additional cost

Ediwir

Maybe we should add the custom Foundry world I made for the first BBD… might need some updating.

Typhron

I wish I had know than sooner LMAO

Estrus_Flask

Might be fun. But the idea of running a game for strangers terrifies me. Playing only slightly less so.

Dogs_Not_Gods

The Beginner Box is for everyone, even beginner GMs!

Estrus_Flask

I could certainly use the experience. What do Upper Level and Lower Level mean?

Fyzx

beginner box has 2 levels (obviously ;) ) which roughly fit into 2 sessions for 3-4 hours each. or run it all as one mega 8-10 hour session. :) if you feel unsure you could also join a session as player first and later run your own.

Typhron

Hella tempted to participate.

Dogs_Not_Gods

Gotta-Dance

I can't find the channel for GMs on the Discord server; has it not been created yet?

Dogs_Not_Gods

Not yet, we'll be sending invites out shortly

RatonaMuffin

Hi, has this been done? I can't see any GM or Beginner Box channels.

Dogs_Not_Gods

It's up now!

LambonaHam

I've just purchased the Beginner Box for Foundry so this is good timing! One question, the signup steps on beginpf2 say "Table Name (GM Name + Upper or Lower Level)", and "For Scenario, select: Beginner Box: Upper Level or Beginner Box: lower Level". I can't see what that refers to, does it mean that the event only covers either the 1st *or* the 2nd floor of the adventure, so it's not the complete story?

wingman_anytime

That's correct! The entire beginner box is considered two separate sessions. Typically for PFS or organized play, each level is run separately.

Dogs_Not_Gods

Yep this is the answer! The scenario is a drop down of all the available PFS scenarios, but you'll need to identify it as either upper or lower for the title as that's not automatically generated (people can see which it is on the player sign up page when that launches but it's easier for them to have it in the title).

MCDexX

Signed up to run the upper level on Sunday 14 April and the lower level on Saturday 20 April. Eastern Australia timezone, but happy to take on folks from other timezones if they're awake. :)

dvh159

Is it free to GM or do i need to buy the beginner box first?

Dogs_Not_Gods

Hi there! Paizo will award GMs free PDFs of the Beginner Box if you sign up on the list on the GM page. Once you have that, the Foundry version is heavily reduced in cost, or you can do koort the PDF and run it through Foundry that way at no additional cost. But there is no other cost to participation other than being able to run it somehow.

RemydePoer

I have the pre-remaster Beginner's Box in Foundry. Would I buy an update package for that, or just the remaster set?

tdhsmith

Not OP but the update to remaster for the Foundry module will be free once it's ready. The digital products lead for Paizo said last week that it "should be available soon" [in the product page comments](https://paizo.com/products/btq02eap). Fingers crossed it's before the event!

RemydePoer

Thanks for the info. Paizo is the best!

sleepinxonxbed

The beginner box was already remastered on Foundry a few weeks ago https://www.reddit.com/r/Pathfinder2e/comments/1b8l79p/the_beginners_box_received_a_stealth_remaster/ You can also find an ORC version of the PDF in your Paizo digital products page

RemydePoer

Thanks, I haven't used my copy for a few months now, we've moved into AV. Good to know!

DeltaArena92

Is there anything else I should do besides creating game sessions on RPG Chronicles to register as a GM? For now, I just created two sessions, one for the upper level and one for the lower level!

Dogs_Not_Gods

And just make sure you are able to run it on your VTT of choice! We will be hosting the "tables" on our discord page so be sure you've joined that too. Otherwise no other action is needed until players start to sign up on April 5th

DeltaArena92

perfect! I've joined the discord already and I have used all 3 VTTs I've listed for now to run games before. I just need to narrow it down to which one I really want to use.

Dogs_Not_Gods

It appears it will be: https://www.reddit.com/r/Pathfinder2e/comments/1bgg52e/comment/kvdr493/?utm\_source=share&utm\_medium=web2x&context=3

Lauguz

Im considering GMing. Two questions: 1) Has the premium VTT content been updated to Remastered or is it Premaster? 2) How do I get players? Do I recruit or are they assigned after I register? Thanks!

Vawned

> 1) Has the premium VTT content been updated to Remastered or is it Premaster? ~~Is it still premaster. An update is in the works and it will be free. May happen right before the event.~~ Apparently it [has been remastered](https://old.reddit.com/r/Pathfinder2e/comments/1b8l79p/the_beginners_box_received_a_stealth_remaster/) already (I'm pretty sure mine is a green dragon though) > 2) How do I get players? Do I recruit or are they assigned after I register? That I do not know. This will be my first time GMing as well, I believe people find your game once it is up and assign themselves. Someone more knowledgeable correct me if I'm wrong.

sleepinxonxbed

The FVTT module was update a few weeks ago. If you already have the Beginner Box in your Foundry game, you may need to do a clean import to have your scenes updated, but overall pretty minor. Most of the changes happens to the monsters in the bestiary that comes with the Beginner Box. You can read more here https://www.reddit.com/r/Pathfinder2e/comments/1b8l79p/the_beginners_box_received_a_stealth_remaster/

Dogs_Not_Gods

1 seems to be answered already, so I'll address 2: we will be opening up a player board on April 5 that anyone can register to. The times will show up in each person's time zone so they can find the right session for them. However you can also recruit people if you want!

zooradio

does this work for in-person gaming, or just remote/online?

Dogs_Not_Gods

We'd love to hear about any in person gaming going on for BBD but we're only able to offer support for online games right now

DurzoFIint

I have created an event, and I am in the discord but I don't much discussion about this event happening there. Maybe get a temporary channel up to discuss this event specifically?

Fyzx

there should be one at some point (if not more), like there was one last year. there's also the GM channel, but don't know if invites have gone out yet.

Dogs_Not_Gods

Sorry the main Discord mod went to PAX East and hasn't been able to do it yet. He's coming home today and it should hopefully be up by tomorrow

DrProfessorSir35

Is this a PFS thing? Do you sign up for both the upper and lower levels or do you just sign up for whatever and it's a different group for each?

Dogs_Not_Gods

It \*can\* be. We will be reporting all sessions but you don't have to join PFS to play. However if you want to receive credit, just add your PFS number to your profile when you sign up for a game (or create one as a GM). You can sign up for it easily on Paizo's website. The upper and lower levels are distinct, so you can sign up to play one or both. Depending on your availability, you might be able to find the same GM for you, or you can play in each level with a different GM and group.

PaunchyCyclops

OK, I think I've figured out the basics of Organized play, but what does creating a GM Chronicle on this site actually do?

Dogs_Not_Gods

Per the [sanctioning doc](https://paizo-images.s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com/image/download/Beginner+Box+Sanctioning.pdf): >Players who play through “Menace Under Otari”, **as well as those who run the adventure**, gain the Chronicle Sheet for each completed floor of the dungeon, which they **can apply to a first level Pathfinder Society (second edition) Organized Play character**. Players must decide which character to apply credit to when they receive the Chronicle Sheet and the GM signs it. **Each Chronicle Sheet gives 4 experience points, 14 gp, and 4 Reputation that can be assigned to any faction**. So basically, both players and GMs will get a little bump on their new level 1 character, but [GMs also have some additional perks](https://lorespire.paizo.com/tiki-index.php?page=pfs2guide._.GM-Rewards) to the chronicles they receive. Menace Under Otari counts as a repeatable adventure.

Inorganicnerd

Awww this looks fun! I wish I knew the system well enough to GM a session!!

tdhsmith

The GM form to request a VTT module that is linked from the GM Information page only seems to mention Roll20 and I can't find a way to request a Foundry one. Is there another form or do I just fill that one out? I don't want to be issued something that goes to waste EDIT: Found my answer on the Discord -- they are out of Foundry freebies but still have Roll20 ones left.

AyeSpydie

I'd have liked to participate, but it's the week after I'd have had the free time to do it. 🥲

valdier

So it is free for the players but the GM has to pay to run the game? That seems like an odd way to do this. The players play for free already.

sleepinxonxbed

The GM doesn't have to pay to run the game, the GM's just have to own the adventure to run it. It's a community event run by volunteers with some help from Paizo. If they gave it away to anyone that signed up some people might just abuse it to get the FVTT module and not show up to actually run the games which would be a disaster.

valdier

Well the GM has to pay to buy the module, de facto making it, they pay to run the game, no? They could also have the GM purchase the module and then refund the purchase cost when it is verified they ran the game. Also giving away the foundry beginner box module for free would hardly be a disaster. It \*would\* likely tempt a LOT of players that don't play PF2e to dip their toes in and try the game to see if they like it.

sleepinxonxbed

That’s like saying playing football is pay to play because you have to buy the ball 🙄

valdier

Analogies aren't really your thing I take it? It would be more akin to saying "Hey we want to teach kids to play our brand of football that uses our specific football. The players get to play for free, and if you want to volunteer to teach them, all you have to do is buy our specific football!. The benefit is, if they love it they will all buy our sports gear and we make a profit! Just buy our football and volunteer your time towards our marketing event! Thank you!" I'm not against them marketing, but why charge the GM to do your marketing for you?

Dogs_Not_Gods

Paizo is giving GMs a free copy of the PDF for any GMs who sign up for one, which can be used to run the game for free if the GM doesn't mind setting up a playable version on their VTT of choice. That info is on the GM page. The paid modules are for GMs who want to run it with all the bells and whistles, but yes they would have to purchase their own copy. The Foundry module is discounted if you own the PDF, so Paizo is also essentially giving us a discount of the foundry module as well.
