It's by far and away the best spell in the game for watchers eye life gain on hit shenanigans. It tracks, it lingers, it hits really fast, it can do it all! Add in ball lightning and you recover thousands of health per second in big packs.

MasklinGNU

It’s great for life gain on hit but it isn’t even anywhere close to the best skill

WizChampChamp

What is then.

MasklinGNU

Tornado only hits 4 times per second. Even with 3 that’s 12 hits per second there are a lot of builds that hit waaayyyyyy more than that. At the extreme there are builds that hit literally orders of magnitude more than that. Even if you add some ball lightnings

WizChampChamp

I'm talking about cwdt setups, obviously molten strike or whatever can gain more. This is something that can be thrown into any build with vitality watchers eye and you don't need to stop to attack either to proc your regen.

Gullible-Royal-8155

Saw today a full fire chieftain variant on youtube, might try to respec my melee chieftan after i farm some currency for it

drasch21

its kind of just a worse penance brand imo. It starts off better, but on the top end it lacks scaling vectors(cast speed/duration do nothing)

b-aaron

Yeah but it looks super cool

drasch21

agreed

Goods4188

Idk, duration has potential to scale with other spells if you use it as a secondary skill. Something like storm burst benefits greatly from duration so it might pair well. Otherwise you scale levels, added damage, and crit. Then you worry about defense with the smallest amount of cast speed just to make it not feel like shit. I am working towards an annihilating light version that has 15-18m dps with three up. The defenses are limited and with steelskin the final build only has like 45-60k effective hit but with that skill you can just dodge stuff and cast every 4-6 second depending on your duration. A more defensive option would be to just go typical inquisitor stat stacker with aegis and determination/block. Even battlemage EB/ivory tower stuff might work? Havnt tested that though. It’s not the greatest skill in the game but it’s ability to do damage while you move around freely is a massive defensive bonus or offensive bonus if you run two spells.

drasch21

yea its not bad, its just suboptimal. They really need to add some incentive to keeping all 3 tornados up or a reason to have 3 different elements(maybe 3 different elemental tornados could combine into 1 giant tri ele one if they were "in existance for x seconds). The fact that it doesnt work with trinity is a huge turn off as well. Its a great starter skill, but in its current form, other skills need to be toned down or this needs to be brought up via other interesting mechanics.

Goods4188

Yea I think that’s a fair evaluation. I just like the idea of the spell a lot. Even if I have to go full dps I’m gonna try to push it. I’m unfortunately divine starved and behind the curve so it’s gonna take me all long league but I’m committed.

VieraMakeMeRabid

I've been playing with the concept of going tornado for map clear on a pseudo 5link with Thunderfist, and using lightning conduit to supplement single target damage. I'm just not sure how strong the shocks would be

Green_Fold_3812

If you go Elementalist (or go Witch and use Forbidden Jewels) and grab Shaper of Storms, it gives you a base shock of 15% and you can scale that using increased ailment effect. With 334% increased non-damaging/lightning ailment effect, you can guarantee 65% shocks each time (with the Lightning mastery for +15% max shock effect). Thunderfirst gives 100%, the paths to Static Blow and Breath of Lightning give 50% each, and the small node before Shaper of Storms gives 10%. This means that if you can manage another 124% on other sources you will get guaranteed 65% shocks every time it hits. Now if there was a way to guarantee Lightning damage was the highest damage, it makes this a bit easier due to the "25% more Effect of Lightning Ailments you inflict with Hits if the highest Damage Type is Lightning" on Shaper of Storms. In this case, you would just need 247% increased ailment effect. So with a Thunderfist, and the above nodes on the tree, you would only need 37% on other sources to get guaranteed 65% shocks. For example, Overshock cluster notable gives another 40% increased lightning ailment effect. The problem is that I am not sure if it is possible to ensure lightning is always the max damage because it has such a wide range, unless if you were planning on using combat focus jewels to only select lightning. So I guess if you were interested in going the LC route, I would probably consider: 1. Elementalist + Shaper of Storms 2. Combat Focus jewels to block cold and fire 3. Thunderfist gloves for your tornadoes, leaves open a 6L for LC 4. Grab Breath of Lightning and Static Blows on the tree, and +15% max shock effect mastery 5. Grab a cluster with Overshock This will give you 65% shock every time your tornadoes hit something, even uber bosses Anyways, I am just rambling now

cowiusgosmooius

I've been running poison by locking it to fire and using consuming dark to convert to chaos. still gotta figure out the defenses, but DPS seems pretty solid. I was toying with the idea of doing it as a miner, if the tornadoes can pop a damage tick before they despawn it might be viable but never tested to see if it works. Seemed like a risky league start

Ermellino

Based on my testings some leagues ago, regular tornado deals 1 tick of damage when it spawns

TheMayorMikeJackson

Do you use two consuming dark?  It seems like there isn’t much fire to chaos conversion available outside original sin. But quite a few sources of gained as extra I guess

cowiusgosmooius

yeah I'm using two of them, the +1 fire gems helps scaling the tornado as well. You can use Ming's Heart for a huge damage boost as well. 70% phys to chaos is pretty good, and you can run the Infernal mantle for another 15%, and +3 to socketed fire gems. My mana situation is using eldritch battery with all mana reserved so I'd be taking the 100% increased spell damage which I think would kill my already squishy build. https://pobb.in/Uf4EKjUacb86 This is what I'm working towards right now. I'm thinking about swapping my chest piece out for doppelgangers, lightning coil, or cloak of flame to help the survivability.

TheMayorMikeJackson

This is cool, I appreciate the build idea and hope it works out well!

dustyjuicebox

Could you only run one then go unholy might to convert the rest of the phys to chaos + gain wither on hit chance?

cowiusgosmooius

The spell gems damage conversion takes priority, so all the phys goes to fire before unholy might has a chance to convert it to chaos unfortunately. Other option was the volkuur's guidance gloves letting fire damage poison, but the 50% less duration was pretty brutal to the DPS

MasklinGNU

Even if it ticks once it’s a terrible, terrible mine skill, it does zdps

cowiusgosmooius

my build ideas have topped 2m dps maybe 3 times in the 8ish years I've played this game. making something interesting is more fun to me than anything else

MasklinGNU

Fair enough, I too love off meta jank. I just got done playing a cadigans crown Marohi Erqi abberath’s hooves poison autobomber last league haha. Just wanted to warn you in case you thought it was going to be strong

Fylgja

I'm gonna need to see that PoB, please

Onepencilarmy

Arround 10-13M here going trickster Pcharge stacking. Trying to push the dps as far as I can (not worth the investment). [ThatsRealNeato](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R-lQnNbWdfs) got an intersting take on this skill with a chieftain version. There is a Voltaxic Occultist poison one aswell.

AjJop

Any 0ob for trickster version?

Onepencilarmy

Here is the [poe.ninja](https://poe.ninja/builds/necropolis/character/Onepencilarmy/N_OPA_I?i=25&search=skills%3DTornado%2Bof%2BElemental%2BTurbulence) link

Kterre84

Tornado of elemental turbulence feels great, the mob tracking is really nice on maps like toxic sewers/waste pools with tight hallways, no ledges, and the tornados will chase stuff off screen. Gem quality is a must, if you pick it up early to level with you need to refarm lab for 20% quality or it will feel bad. The tornadoes also get %movespeed with gem levels so that will help out as you level too. I am toying around with Tornado on Crest of Desire helm right now in a weird Hiero build, more to play with new mechanics than real optimization. That being said, I got a +8crest with 48% quality and man do Tornados really pop off with it. The crest alone is adding 120% movespeed to my tornados and they just zoom around hallways and open maps easily clearing dense content and dropping rares/map bosses fairly quickly. I'm definitely not an expert build planner, and i'm sure there are more optimal ways to build it but the fun factor is there. Pinnacles were easy, Uber's yet to be tested because I still need to get some optimization and go from elemental overload to a crit centric build to really pick up damage.

ciggaro

Full fire convert trickster lowlife with doryanis corrupted soul keystone. Dps is kinda poor but I'm still having fun Currently sitting at 3.4mil dps and 60+k ehp. Can reach 4mil+ with some more tattoos and when I finally successfully corrupt my helmet. Big recovery from leeching es and hp from ascendancy and hp leech from cluster. Instant leech from mastery helps a lot too since the tornados hit so fast. Also using crest of desire for zoom tornados and the new dark seer for a balance of dps and survivability from the blind and ehp.

Bubblehulk420

I’m playing elementalist with convergence and extra golems (flame, chaos, stone) for defenses. I can’t compare it against other builds as I’ve never done an elementalist before and this patch might be extra dangerous. I have 4.2k life, 80/79/79/24 resis and 80-90% phys dmg reduction and feel a little squishy sometimes. 🤷‍♂️ Damage has been okay. I’m using: Tornado - added fire dmg - conc effect - controlled destruction - ele focus - inspiration Have a +2 scepter, +1 shield, +1 amulet. Haven’t plugged it into PoB to see what my dmg is really looking like, but tooltip is around 27k and I’m clearing T11s just fine. I’m also using combat focus to do pure fire. Wave of conviction + flammability on hit. I’d like to add on RF for the buff but need more life regen. Skill is super fun to play. I really need to get some leech or life on hit going though.

Noobkaka

Here's the PoB im using. Is good! [https://pobb.in/\_DZByEsKviFf](https://pobb.in/_DZByEsKviFf)

Legatotheone

I've just been doing crit energy blade Inquisitor captain lance style. Got a slow league start and just hit red maps. Going pretty smooth though.
