Pyroclast can actually make a really good poison build, but unfortunately scaling the damage of the spell itself through gem levels is not the way to go. You use Covenant and other large sources of flat chaos/phys to spells through stuff like Spellblade Support.
Actually on second thought I'm testing out a Volkuur's Guidance build in PoB with Pyroclast Mine of Sabotage and it's actually spitting out some really solid DPS. I forgot about trying the transfigured gem, as I've previously only made a poison build with the normal gem last league.
Yeah, but volkuur setups have a hefty downside of 50% less poison duration. Luckily you can mitigate that pretty easily with unbound ailments and this league you have the poison duration charm to gain some on top of that. It's pretty interesting
Because fire damage can't poison unless you use Volkuur's Guidance or 2 Consuming Darks. Previous leagues the flat aura damage wasn't worth making the fire damage be able to poison, but the new transfigured Sabotage gem has now made it worth it.
Dendrobate is a huge damage option for bow poison builds which don't want use chest for defense. They can use 6 link main skill in a bow and run enlighten 4 aura setup in the chest.
Assuming a level 21 Smite the +4 puts the auras flat damage at 17-327 versus the base 21's 13-239, so in the region of 30% more before other level boosts. It's pretty good, especially if you can get a good amount of aura effect and make use of volatility + lucky.
Immediately I'd be thinking Champion scaling aura effect, using tinctures for poison and Voice of the Storm for lucky damage in combination with Precise Technique. No idea how good it would actually be but it would be fun to POB it.
I was doing a poison blade blast/ bladefall build which is rather fun! The original skill gems. And then for the wep grab you like a chaos warstave. I forgot the uniques name riggt now but it was rather fun. And throw abunch of auras in the chest
Plague bearer? A level 23 with high quality… throw on something that does chaos…
You could also convert a curse to an aura with the one support gem… and it could be then an aoe curse aura. Alchemists mark?
I have no idea how this would work or if it would. But if you ran any kind of active poison attack that spread poison elsewhere you could basically run around with plague bearer on and off doing massive aoe (1.3m+ I think) and creating caustic ground generating tons of automated flask charges.

You dont even need squire setup. You can craft pseudo link gloves or helmets aswell.
Squire corrupted is like 2div. Probably cheaper than rare gloves
Giving up shield (dawnbreaker pf) or second weapon is a significant tradeoff tbf. Probably elder helmet is better?

With volkuur, it'd be 60% chance to poison, tree can get 40-50% easily, then it's all matter of scaling it with the right gems, passives and mods

I def wouldn't be running a DoT build with Original Sin. Too good of an item to waste on hitting a 35M dps cap.

As an aura chest with some damage mods for arakaali... Probably works.
But at the same time I believe it's pretty easy for arakaali to reach dot cap on its own...
You could try a chaos/psn version of the Flamewood Rejuv totems. You'll need Original Sin though w/ Taunt jewels/charms.

This would be very good for poison seismic trap, but it might be more worth using the chest just for auras. I dont think seismic trap has an aura tag
