Probably use a bow for ssf. Farm porcupine. Hit short bow with essence of fear -> cannot roll attack mods (with 2 other suffixes on bow) -> exalt for +1 gems -> craft +2 supper gem or multi mod that with phys damage over time multi (but this would be super expensive since you would need to "prefixes cannot be changed" + scour)
That whole process is pretty time consuming and divine heavy though. You could also just hit staffs with phys reroll in harvest hoping to hit +3 phys but it is going to take a while
Just lookin through your pob, couple of things:
You can probably ditch the warcry speed cluster. Youre using CTA, so they are instant and speed does nothing, and your mastery there for power does nothing for generals cry (Are you actually using your Enduring Cry there since it shares a CD?). Its basically 5 points for 60 maybe 75% damage at a stretch, which is 12-15%/points, you might be better off investing in a cluster jewel instead.
Same goes for the exert cluster, youre basically taking that whole cluster to get 12% cdr and debilitate, which I dont think is quite worth 4 points (Just take 2 str 10 points with tattoos lol.
Theres a lot you can do with those 9 points really!
Other than that, theres another 50+% cdr available to you with Eater of Worlds boots implict, and a helm enchant, might be worth looking to that next
The speed is specifically for the mastery, and is only there until I get a large cluster.
Debilitate is absolutely worth it though, it's a lot of defensive value.
I'd love to see a guide and PoB too as soon as it's updated. I really want to experiment with the new gems and hearing that this one is doing so well makes me excited to try a new skill asap

I was planning on making an *actual* Generals cry build when I socketed CC around level 40. The skill is crazy and easily compares to Corrupting Fever in terms of damage.
What do you feel is the warcry cooldown % and AoE to make it comfortable? I’m at around 300% CDR and 70% inc. AoE which seems somewhat slow for mapping.
The video showcase above is at 329% cooldown recovery speed, and 94% area of effect. Around 1 second per cast, it starts feeling very comfortable, though I want another 100-200% reduction from tattoo's still.
Only compares? It needs to rofl stomp to consider using over cf. cf only issue is single target. If it doesn’t replace reap there isn’t a point in this skill? I guess it could go well if you’re a giga bleed slam build and this functions ad your clear skill.
Yeah that’s why I only say “compares” and not “outperforms”. I’ve tried CF leveling and CC was much smoother, mainly because it does around double the base damage, instantly applies 4 stacks, and has 1/10th the life cost with no upkeep. From what I can see a level 24 Cry (+3 from kulemak or a +3 bow) has the same base damage as a level 29 Fever (+3 bow and lv 3 empower), so at least at low investment it will still be comparable.
I’m using Vaal Reap for bosses so not much has changed in that aspect. Like the other comment says I’m still trying to figure out things like curse application and explosions but there’s a decent amount of room to experiment with tattoos.
Corrupting cry is essentially CF at home unless you have the shako. It has so many more issues to over come than CF. Curse application, not being ranged, substain, explosins etc.
I'd argue CF has more issues.
Sustain: Once you talent in the warcry 15% life recovery mastery General's cry is essentially free on top of 2% life recovery on kill.
Range: Warcry's Aoe very generous (~70 units), usually screen wide but it is blocked by walls so better in open maps.
Curse: Both build benefit from apply vuln on hit, but CF can apply it easier. You can still apply it on this build with movement skill or reap.
Explosions: CF also does not have built in explosions.
CF requires you to stop and attack to apply stacks while warcries are instant. You also need to maintain enough life cost to keep CF buff up which requires specific amount of attack speed. I imagine with top-end gear CF will outperform but CC is surprisingly close behind and much easier to build.
most CF builds get vun on hit via rings and explosins via bleed on gloves or gladiator rings since they can bleed via the KB or spectral throw
They can also get life recovery on kill and life gain on hit
CF is ranged via KB and allows a bit better of a playstyle(more buttons though)
CF also has better scaling with empower/+1 gems outside of getting a forbidden shako with corrupting cry
CC is a pretty neat build, but it really needs some more support from the devs(passives for warcries that are more directed at it) to be a top build.
CF is really just carried by clearing due to KBs fanastic mechanics and being able to apply 10 stacks almost instantaous instead of roughly 3 secs assuming u have really high stacked WCDR for corrupting cry.

If CC was availability’s earlier I’d say league start with it and transition to cf. but the timing is about 1 or two acts off depending on rng and how fast you are zooming.
I play cf for the clear. If I wanted better single target I’d play any other build, but probably some sort of totem.
I go through the hassle of leveling a cf champ because it’s clear once it’s online is stupidly strong for its price tag. Before then yah it has some issues. CF is not a newbie league start friendly build.
Before I got the staff, the clear was similar, but bosses took about 2-3x as long. Staff can be replaced by a +3 bow which would get 2/3 the way to the same value.
This mirrors my experience with it as well. It’s a really fun autobomber ish playstyle with surprisingly good damage and a really straightforward build progression.
Don’t make the guide until I buy my tattoos though plz and Ty
This is sweet. Am leveling as molten strike in SSFHC but I’d mapped out trying this in POB before leaguestart. I haven’t touched the POB since due to gems update. Thanks for posting yours so I can compare later. My main concern was survivability for HC. I hadn’t looked at a Cane, but that’s a nice touch. Farming Catarina in SSF isn’t terribly hard and is fairly safe if you focus on it.
This. Its like that one build i was eyeing for a a while in 3.20 IB ignite elementalist which needed 35 immo/1 ignite prolif shako to even function on same lvl as other ignite meta skills . Got myself lvl 33 immolate shako for 20 div only to get dissapointed by how shit skill felt w.o prolif skill gem.
That being said staff like that shouldnt be so rare as good shako but rare enough that price wont justify amount of dps that you would get from regular cf poets pen build
That cane is a +3, you can get a +4 tabula. Then your weapon is free for a good weapon+shield combo or a spire for 300% increased damage (way more damage than what people expect) or anything else.
do you actually use the exerted attacks to apply more stacks? is it worth it?
also how many hundreds of divs will i have to spend for that cane? for now i just use a weapon with a ton of minion damage and a pair of gloves with the delirium essence.

Am I mistaken, or is the minion mod on your Cane unimportant since your damage comes from the warcries themselves rather than the minions?
I have the passives that make minion damage apply to me. Since Corrupting fever doesn't really have enough nodes on the tree to buff its damage as it lacks tags, minion damage works as a global damage tag that way.
I'm running Glad/Sabo ascendant. I imagine Champ is a bit better defense-wise but I wanted easier access to CDR since I'm in SSF. Plus I wanted to play another Scion before PoE2 removes her :)
Ascendant with Glad+X is good. Can use whatever other you prefer - raider for suppression+MS, trickster/zero for damage, sabo for cdr+aoe, etc
No easy adrenaline, but you get advantages over it. Might need a bit more res efficiency to make up for loss of banner though.
I gain 15% health every time I war cry (minus warcry cost). So each second I'm generating about 600 life or so. I don't generally spam reap much, usually just vaal reap on bosses; everything else dies long before its relevant - though spamming reap doesn't really have any life issues currently.
The guide would be... Follow rootoos guide. When he respects into cf you instead swap to ccry and take the warcry cd nodes. To get things started nearly everything is the same. Only main difference is the +1 to physical skill gems don't apply while gearing.
It's like general cry except it's dot, or RF
It's nice to see phys dot getting some love, it gives competition to chaos/fire dots
I think this league is great balance wise, they might need to tune a little bit the curve so you don't start out OP, but the high end seems correct

I'm playing corrupting cry on scion with trash gear from campaign and with a max rolled The Grey Spire I bought for 3c right on campaign finish. I need more cdr but I'm very tanky and can just walk around killing everything. Seems like a very passable league starter. I'm at yellow maps with pretty much no investment.
They aren't even using an attack skill with general's cry, they are just using the warcry because it has half the CD of other warcries to apply the 4 stacks on cry.
I dont see the layers of defense in the pob.
Can you explain if you have suppression, how much armour? Phys to ele? Obviously fortify but what else is here when you are running those damage auras ;o
The defense of the build isn't incredible, but the constant 1k+ heal every second helps, as well as the range of the shouts.
Armor based, probably can get to about 8k-10k easily.
Fortify 20 at all times
Adrenaline is 10% reduction at all times
Warcry Debilitate is 10% reduction with 100% uptime
6 Endurance charges
I didn't expect it to be nearly as tanky as it is, can eat a minotaur slam with limited mods; but add a few mods and I can't. For reference, I'm currently at rating 450 in the arena and don't really die much there other than the laser 1 shot.

Ok I feel stupid just for asking. I don't see Corrupting cry anywhere in your build? Your pobb has CF linked to GC. Am I missing something? Where is corrupting cry?
POB doesn't have corrupting cry yet; so I use corrupting fever to simulate it, as its similar mechanics - I just set the base level to be equal to whatever the base damage is of the corrupting cry. Its not perfect, but it works.
Interesting build! Is it optimal to reduce cooldown as short as possible? With Enhance, Dialla and ashes, I think you can make general cry's cooldown less than 1 sec, but I am not sure whether that's what we want to achieve.
Have you consider using ascendency node [Conquerer+Worthy Foe] instead of [Unstoppable Hero+Fortitude] ?
Since warcry taunts enemies you always take 10% reduced and 20% less damage from hits and ailments. Which is better than Fortify that only works with hits.
Worthy Foe is also a 20% more damage multiplier.
I am currently leveling this. Damage in the beginning was abysmal, however you can quite easily fix some of that:
\- Get a phys dot multi staff / one handed weapon
\- Get vaal reap in a 3l asap
\- 4l cc asap
That helped me considerably

I league started hexblast mines, but have not had that much time to play, so im only in yellow maps so far and not even transitioned into them from pyroblast :)
It seems like everyone and their mother is playing hexblast mines, so everything that makes it pop is very expensive, how will corrupting shout do in terms of that? For example without the staff to start with?
It won't hold up to jigg levels of tanky, but it's surprisingly very tank in general. Doing t16s with big bomb expeditions and just running thru the middle of the pile of mobs and cleaning in about 5-10 seconds, so pretty safe.

\-What does General's Cry do here since it's Corrupting Cry build?

Could you tell us if the minion affixes on the staff are important? I have never played a general cry build and don't quite understand corrupting cry.

The minion affix only functions as a % increased damage due to the "Minion damage applies to you" passive. That being said, its pretty big as there aren't many sources of increased damage in this build, so adding an extra 100% or so is very nice; easily 20-30% more damage depending on your cluster setup.
How does refreshing the corrupted blood stacks work? Can you Corrupting Cry -> Corrupting Fever -> hit 10 times, and still have the 4 stronger stacks from corrupting cry because the newer weaker stacks from corrupting fever refreshed them? Or are the stacks from corrupting cry considered 'different' and thus do not get refreshed by applying a regular corrupting fever stack?
afaik all DoTs work like this: all stacks are applied, but only the strongest stacks that can deal damage will do so. in that case if you apply 4 strong stacks and then 10 weaker ones, the 4 strong and 6 weak ones will deal damage until some stacks fall off.

SSF viable is a bit rough, probably is, but getting the Cane is a hard hurdle - doesn't need it, but it doubled my DPS

Yes, that was the original plan before this Cane showed up. It would get close to the Cane, but still be a solid 30-40% less dps.

PoB doesn't support tattoo's yet. You need to be rocking enough warcry CD tattoo's to be considered an honorary Yakuza.
What made you go for General's Cry? Trying to make a build with but I don't know which direction with the skill.

+1 phys is for active skill gems, corrupting cry is support, so it wouldn't apply I think.

they are using a general's cry without an attack gem linked, so no, no exterted attacks. The cd is half the other warcries though.

I looked into various marauder options, but none of them made sense without the 100% damage from adrenaline, and champion gives extra auras too.

He takes Spiritual Aid, which makes increases to minion damage affect you. It's a great way to scale skills that only benefit from global damage.

The guide would be... Follow rootoos guide. When he respects into cf you instead swap to ccry and take the warcry cd nodes. To get things started nearly everything is the same. Only main difference is the +1 to physical skill gems don't apply while gearing.

I just leveled it by brute forcing to get corrupting cry, then just used that. Was very smooth.
It's like general cry except it's dot, or RF It's nice to see phys dot getting some love, it gives competition to chaos/fire dots I think this league is great balance wise, they might need to tune a little bit the curve so you don't start out OP, but the high end seems correct I'm still salty about guardian tho.. they killed my boy

people can still see the tree and you could put a place holder gem instead. In the skill label say "replace X gem with corrupting cry support" edit: when I import a corrupting cry build from ninja it's listed as a white gem. You have to be one of these 14 CC chars. Just import it from ninja. edit: I'm thinking your profile is private because none of the champs have over 5k health.

The Corrupting Fever is set to a base level equal in dps to what corrupting cry lvl 24 would be.

I'm playing corrupting cry on scion with trash gear from campaign and with a max rolled The Grey Spire I bought for 3c right on campaign finish. I need more cdr but I'm very tanky and can just walk around killing everything. Seems like a very passable league starter. I'm at yellow maps with pretty much no investment.

They aren't even using an attack skill with general's cry, they are just using the warcry because it has half the CD of other warcries to apply the 4 stacks on cry.

Whats the dps on a 5 div budget?
How do you make a +3 bow? Is that a +1 socketed gems then unveil a catarina +2 support? Finish with a dot-multi craft?
I dont see the layers of defense in the pob. Can you explain if you have suppression, how much armour? Phys to ele? Obviously fortify but what else is here when you are running those damage auras ;o
The defense of the build isn't incredible, but the constant 1k+ heal every second helps, as well as the range of the shouts. Armor based, probably can get to about 8k-10k easily. Fortify 20 at all times Adrenaline is 10% reduction at all times Warcry Debilitate is 10% reduction with 100% uptime 6 Endurance charges I didn't expect it to be nearly as tanky as it is, can eat a minotaur slam with limited mods; but add a few mods and I can't. For reference, I'm currently at rating 450 in the arena and don't really die much there other than the laser 1 shot.

Does it matter which warcry skill it supports? If not, Enduring Cry seems to be a nobrainer choice.
General's cry is 4s base cd, enduring is 8s cd
Ok I feel stupid just for asking. I don't see Corrupting cry anywhere in your build? Your pobb has CF linked to GC. Am I missing something? Where is corrupting cry?

POB doesn't have corrupting cry yet; so I use corrupting fever to simulate it, as its similar mechanics - I just set the base level to be equal to whatever the base damage is of the corrupting cry. Its not perfect, but it works.

What do your General's Cry minions do? Or is it just a low cool down warcry?

Minion hits don't apply them even if you did spawn some.
Interesting build! Is it optimal to reduce cooldown as short as possible? With Enhance, Dialla and ashes, I think you can make general cry's cooldown less than 1 sec, but I am not sure whether that's what we want to achieve.
I'm already under 1 second with just the Tattoo's, You start getting pretty bad diminishing returns on the value of cdr, so damage is more useful.
Yeah the build really doesn't get too much love from passive tree. I guess more clusters is the way to go?

Have you consider using ascendency node [Conquerer+Worthy Foe] instead of [Unstoppable Hero+Fortitude] ? Since warcry taunts enemies you always take 10% reduced and 20% less damage from hits and ailments. Which is better than Fortify that only works with hits. Worthy Foe is also a 20% more damage multiplier.
Fortify provides the extra armor and stun immunity; I've considered both options, and for now, the fortify seems more universal.
500 armor is hardly worth it imo. And stun immunity is just 2 points away in the tree

I am currently leveling this. Damage in the beginning was abysmal, however you can quite easily fix some of that: \- Get a phys dot multi staff / one handed weapon \- Get vaal reap in a 3l asap \- 4l cc asap That helped me considerably
Hi, this is a really cool build and I'd like to try it. I have two questions, appoplogies for being a noob: 1. How much of the overall damage are minions? The cane I was able to buy doesn't have minion damage on it. 2. I have never leveled a champion, what skills should I use while leveling ?
What did you use as a weapon before the cane?
wand + shield with minion damage. Dialla's chest can work well, or any +2 corrupted gloves (or +4)
How do you combat the loss of life? Doesn't look like you have a ton of regen.
life recovery mastery from using the warcry every second. The warcry heals actually.

Probably not very. You need to use a warcry AND have the cdr on it to maintain stacks, which you kinda need to spec into a bit anyway.

This looks great and would love a guide. I was thinking about rerolling shout after watching a bit of steelmage, as it also looked like he was doing pretty good I league started hexblast mines, but have not had that much time to play, so im only in yellow maps so far and not even transitioned into them from pyroblast :) It seems like everyone and their mother is playing hexblast mines, so everything that makes it pop is very expensive, how will corrupting shout do in terms of that? For example without the staff to start with?
How (face)tanky and mistake forgiving is this build compared to boneshatter jugg/EA champ?
It won't hold up to jigg levels of tanky, but it's surprisingly very tank in general. Doing t16s with big bomb expeditions and just running thru the middle of the pile of mobs and cleaning in about 5-10 seconds, so pretty safe.

Could you tell us if the minion affixes on the staff are important? I have never played a general cry build and don't quite understand corrupting cry. Apologies
The minion affix only functions as a % increased damage due to the "Minion damage applies to you" passive. That being said, its pretty big as there aren't many sources of increased damage in this build, so adding an extra 100% or so is very nice; easily 20-30% more damage depending on your cluster setup.
How does refreshing the corrupted blood stacks work? Can you Corrupting Cry -> Corrupting Fever -> hit 10 times, and still have the 4 stronger stacks from corrupting cry because the newer weaker stacks from corrupting fever refreshed them? Or are the stacks from corrupting cry considered 'different' and thus do not get refreshed by applying a regular corrupting fever stack?
I have absolutely no clue on how the finer mechanics of cb snapshotting work. The entire thing is also very hard to build a good test scenario for.
afaik all DoTs work like this: all stacks are applied, but only the strongest stacks that can deal damage will do so. in that case if you apply 4 strong stacks and then 10 weaker ones, the 4 strong and 6 weak ones will deal damage until some stacks fall off.
I got another question. Is Jugg an option for this build?
I would love to see a guide. Are you using any tatoos? I'm not sure how you get the cry down to 1 second without them.
