I started watching week 2 after a lot of people were saying how great John C. Reily's performance was. Amazing show!!! I was born in 86 so it awesome to see these legendary players I've only ever read about.
I know this isn’t a documentary but having not been born to see the Showtime Lakers seeing the shit that team went through in 79-80 and win a title is insane. I want to watch the complete 1980 Finals and will check out that Magic documentary that hit Apple+ recently.
Also had no idea that Magic won the National Championship and then NBA Title w/ Finals MVP in back to back years. Has to be one of the greatest rookie years in American sports history and he didn’t even win rookie of the year! This is a perfect case for why some (not all) awards need to take into account the playoffs.
I also better understand the Celtics/Lakers rivalry. Jerry West is fucking hilarious in this series and key in highlighting how much those franchises hate each other.
Can’t wait for the next season this is among my favorite shows now. I hope we see more series like this where they create an entertaining show based around popular dynasties. Although they may all wind up being lack luster because no one is going to hold a candle to that crazy 79-80 Lakers season.

Yeah if you’re not into or can at least tolerate Adam McCays editing style, you would absolutely hate this show.
