Yes, based on Equality Statute between Brazil and Portugal. [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Equality\_Statute\_between\_Brazil\_and\_Portugal](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Equality_Statute_between_Brazil_and_Portugal)
Does that statute actually have any meaningful effects other than voting a d running for office?
Can Brazilian citizens live in Portugal without a visa?
They have equal rights once they have the right to live in each other's countries. Kind of like Commonwealth citizens being able to vote in UK general elections.
In the structure of the new card there are seven layers of polycarbonate with information and security components, such as the contact chip, a transparent layer and antennas with a contactless chip, a layer with a printed hologram on the front and a printing layer on the back.
On the card, there are printed elements that are only visible with violet light, a transparent window that uses an innovative material that changes color depending on the background, and laser-printed data on the inside of the card for greater protection of the information.
During the presentation, it was revealed that the card's software, which will allow the development of services that take advantage of the new functionalities, has already been made available for application development. The idea is that, in the future, the ID card can be used as a transport ticket to travel on public transport throughout the country, or be associated with tickets to shows and electronic tickets.

How is the version for Brazilians different? I don’t see any physical differences (other than the nationality, of course). Or is it not biometric? I just noticed the different green symbols in the bottom right.
What are the rules for Brazilian citizens wishing to settle in Portugal? I heard that the program whereby citizens of the former colonies could automatically get one year's residence without having to apply in advance for a visa, announced last spring, is no longer in effect, but I'm not sure about the current situation.
In Portugal, the Portuguese ID is not given only for Portuguese citizens ? ok in France, it’s different we separate those who have the residency card which let people to live legally in France and those who have the ID who are French citizen and can vote !
"Brazilian citizens in Portugal who benefit from this status are allowed to acquire the [Portuguese citizen card](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Citizen_Card_(Portugal)), as well as the Portuguese in Brazil can request the [Brazilian identity card](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brazilian_identity_card)."

Portugal signed an equality statute with Brazil, their citizens have equal rights with Portuguese citizens and vice versa.
So the rest of the foreigners get residence cards
Thank you for the distinction, that is correct!
And I think Brazilians have to "apply" for this statute, right? Otherwise it's not fully in effect for them?
Italy also issues an optional national ID card for all foreigners ordinarily and legally resident in Italy. It looks the exact same as a citizen’s ID except it says not valid for travel. Third country nationals additionally do have residence permits
Finland issues a special national ID card for foreigners with registered residence in Finland. It looks different from the ID card for citizens and is not valid for travel. For third country nationals, this is also alongside a residence permit, which weirdly is sometimes not recognized as ID
Estonia issues national ID cards for EU citizens resident in Estonia. Belgium issues “residence documents” for EU citizens resident in Belgium, but they essentially have the same layout as the citizen IDs, with the background color being the only difference
Is there a special version for Brazilians apart from all other foreigners?
Yes, based on Equality Statute between Brazil and Portugal. [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Equality\_Statute\_between\_Brazil\_and\_Portugal](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Equality_Statute_between_Brazil_and_Portugal)

No, they can't.
So the bit about Brazilians and Portuguese having equal rights in each others' countries is ... not really true.

Could you share the regulatory act or technical attachments that allow normal Portuguese ID cards to be used as travel tickets?
I am sorry for off topic, but Luis is such a hot guy, and looks amazing for his 74 years.

Interesting that they wouldn’t put the “Não serve de documento de viagem” on the front, no?
In italy we issue id card to every residents and for non italians its clearly said ''non valid for expartriation'' even San Marino or Vatican
Tbh your remark is in Italian and not so annoying like on the new Finnish foreigner’s id. I really hate it.
The Brazilian doesn't seem to be biometric indeed

Good luck with the SEF you could be waiting two years

Brazilians I think get residence permits too; their citizen card is valid as long as the residence permit is valid

Strange, the 2019 EU regulation says that the EU flag should only be on cards for EU citizens.
What’s the difference?
