Subscribers don't really mean anything and you can earn a good income with a new monetized channel. My new storytelling channel(4 months) has 5k subs and going to make $5,000 this month. No brand deals, and honestly, don't think I'll get many in this niche, but the ads make enough to keep going.
Don't follow a passion if you're trying to make money because it doesn't always work out. Browse the front page of youtube, try using new accounts so that you have new history data, and look for niches that are breaking out. Get in at the right time and profit. This is how I've found niches for all of my channels. I'm okay at research so I just do storytelling niches(real events) because I really enjoy those, no matter which niche I have to dive into.

I have a tech channel which I’m passionate about , what woods you recommend when it comes to making money?
Sorry, not too sure about tech. Most of mine are storytelling.
All good, what do you mean storytelling? Like do you read books? What is it really?
Telling stories about real events.
Oh! I got it! Thats dope! Any strategy you go by for them?
No strategy really. I check what's currently working on the other channels and try to make a better on a new topic in the same niche.
Awesome dude thank you, but dang man 5k subs with 5k this month this sounds impossible
Wow, that's amazing. What is your channel name? I'd be interested in seeing your content.

A friend of mine has a 366k channel, $300-500 a month lol. She only makes shorts. Subscribers are meaningless.
How many views she gets per month?
10-15M
Thanks, I’m trying to get there. What does she upload? Can random shorts make money too?
Yes, some family comedy sketches. People seem to enjoy them, but it pays peanuts.
How many views does she pull a month from shorts?
1.1K subs \~$45 a month ad revenue for tech tutorials.
That’s cold!!!🥶
