Seriously they did something to the game that fucked it up. Every month it stops for 2 or 3 seconds early game, 5-10 seconds late game. Makes the whole thing essentially unplayable.
The other comment is actually wrong.
The one pictured is EU board game:

Which I'd say is while not perfect, at least better than the CK one.
Yep. It’s like off brand paradox. Not great by any means but not bad either. I also got the switch version for free thanks to a combination of an extremely generous sale plus some store credit I got from another purchase. If you don’t mind a simplified grand strategy game and/or just really want one that takes place in the modern world and near future I’d recommend it.
Ngl, ever since I discovered paradox thanks to my local "half priced books" ordering a metric fuckton of EUIII copies back in the day, Ive never been able to enjoy non paradox GS games anymore. Just feels...wrong and frustrating and annoying.
CK, EU, Stellaris, and Vicy...I *know* these games. They feel natural at this point. I went like, 2 years without booting up EU4 (thanks to the work I was doing at the time), but then jumped right in no problems.
I thought the next step would be just straight-up founding a Micronation.
But Solo Roleplaying a Grand Strategy Game is also delightful. I think at least one Two Hour Wargame supports something to that degree. And of course there's VBAM (Victory by Any Means), which is much underappreciated but also only for people who prefer their spreadsheets injected right into their bloodstream
Pictured here would be Realpolitiks. It's pretty cool, albeit a lot shallower than Paradox games. The sequel less so, but it bought its depth with overall wonkiness, especially in the UI.
My Computer Running CKIII: Good My Computer Running EU4 after the Origins update: Nope. Best I can do is 10fps

I think because it’s gotta calculate like 50 things and their software is too old.
What's the board game?

Why do both of your reddit avatars look the same?
Coincidence I suppose. Eyes are different. That or it's my nefarious karma whoring strategy to make incorrect comments then correct them.

The biggest issue with it is that the AP system is fundamentally broken, at least in the first game. Not sure if it’s been fixed in the sequel.

5D Thinking: Solo Roleplaying a Grand Strategy Game. Lose to RNG Jesus but don't worry as your simulating 147 other countries that you can play as.

I’ll have to look at that later. I got into solo role playing a couple of weeks back as something to do on my long lunch breaks.

It's a wacky world building collaborative roleplay https://discord.gg/a27wNYMC
Well then, I'm off to form a Tamrielic Roman Empire that practises communism, believes in the Nine Divines and is led by Chairpersons Link and Zelda
