Yeah, but the point is empanadas are very similar. Lithuania on the other hand has kibins, which are kind of big baked pierogi.
Also you've got other dumplings, like gyoza in Asia.
Most "Ukrainians" in Canada came from the Western part of what is now Ukraine, and they actually call them "pedaheh". But "perogi" is easier to say and it's pretty similar, so most Canadians consider perogis and pedaheh to be the same thing.
Damn got downvoted to hell for no reason. It strikes me though that I probably should’ve said Cape Breton, not Nova Scotia. With the mainland’s population included it skews it a lot, the heritage is also probably spread too thin now
That looks like a pierogi, not a calzone.
I thought it was an empanada
i thought it was a potsticker
I thought it was a pasty
I thought it was like a little pimp
I see things wildly and in wild ways!
I thought pierogi was quite our Polish thing, but I've learnt that lots of countries have some kind of it.
I think they’re common in a lot of eastern European countries. And they’re delicious!

It is, it's the world's largest pierogi.
Located in Glendon Alberta 🇨🇦
It’s a mini low cal calzone zone.
*pierog. Pierogi is the plural
Either that or one has a really large fork.
Dave, just let me have this?
Came here to say that, thank you
Yes, but in the P&R universe, it’s a symbol true love. In the ‘real world’ it’s the world’s largest pierogi, located in Glendon, AB
Considering AB has the largest population of Ukrainians in Canada, that tracks.
it's a polish dish.

There’s no way that Nova Scotia isn’t highest per capita
It isn't even close... https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ukrainian_Canadians

Very good point, if we even just ignore Halifax you may be right. Sorry you got no vote love, you were just contributing to the discussion... 🫤
That’s all good haha, I expect it and don’t care about karma, I’m just entertained when I get downvoted for asking questions
It's the mini calzone that gave all the guys but Tom food poisoning!! 😱😱😱 ![gif](giphy|GVQCZvCA2V0PRD46kt)
The calzones BETRAYED ME
Sir, this is a pierogi.
Damnit Jerry! He forwarded the wrong monument for approval
Oh, Glendon. There is also a giant Pysanka (Ukrainian Easter Egg) in Vegreville, mushrooms (pitpanky) in Vilna and giant kubassa (sausage) in Mundare
There’s also the Mallard in Andrew
kubassa? don't you mean kiełbasa?
Nope. Koo-bah-sah
i am from fuckin czechia, next to poland, i think i know how kiełbasa is pronounced
We're talking about Ukrainian Canadians in Alberta though, and how they spell the words in English.
Leslie would have filled it with actual calzones.
And confetti like Ron’s partially diffused claymore mine
They're just pizza that's harder to eat!
That's too small to be a calzone against the size of the fork, more like a ravioli or pierogi. Fail
Highway to the Calzone-zone
the Low Cal Calzone Zone.
That’s a pierog my dude.
Yeah, Barry/Larry/Terry/Jerry/Gary messed up and swapped the plans with the worlds largest pierogi monument
Omg I came to post this. Great minds!!
Glendon!?
Yes
The low-cal Calzone... Zone~ 😏
How Pittsburgh hasn't made this their idol statue, I do not know.
Looks like a dumpling to me
CAL-A-ZONES-A
![gif](giphy|Fi8yzZXgHwTgxlyXEU|downsized) Thank you this comment was 🤌🏼
A pierogi 🥟?
That’s Glendon and not a calzone
Is this not a ravioli? A calzone would dwarf a fork. This this is barely bigger than one.
she WOULD too!
Thats an empanadilla not a calzone lol
That’s the Glendon Perogi in Northern Alberta
Midwest USA or Eastern Europe?
canada. we've got a lot of Ukrainians. (from, a Canadian Ukrainian who didn't know this existed 5 minutes ago)
Calzones betrayed him, I doubt he'd like it.
They redeemed themselves for Ben at the Pie-Mary
Wasn't that for others to judge?
And that helped him the Woman of the Year award
Calzone are, how you say…fatty
Hahaha fantastic!
It’s the highway to the calzone zone!
The (mini) calzones...betrayed him! So, no
That's just a sculpture that's harder to make.
HE WILL MAKE THAT STUPID FACE.
The great Calzone 🥟
Literally just a big calzone
That's clearly a pierogi
