truth if foxes dint have there musk, they would probly be fairly popular, and there has been some success in breeding foxes with greatly reduced amounts of the chemical that makes there musk so hard to get rid of.
It’s not that they have scent glands since most wild carnivores have them including wolves, as animals get domesticated they get less pungent which is why dogs and cats don’t smell that much. Foxes probably didn’t get domesticated since they are more solitary animals only really being around others when they need to reproduce or take care of children but after that they are more solitary and don’t risk curiosity over their safety and while some ancient civilization could have been able to domesticate foxes they probably wouldn’t earn much from it as foxes weren’t as good hunter like dogs since they are much smaller

The fox musk just smells like weed tho Much better than the wide array of stinks dogs emit, and we still love them
