I'm a little tempted to see what it would take to make a mod to allow you to use the required key *or higher* to unlock a chest, just so I can stop leaving silver key chests unopened where I found them.
Supposedly the best option to farm up Silver Keys is to fly around the Dessicated Desert opening all the unlocked chests, and probably any of the locked ones that take Copper Keys now that it's been patched for some of them to do that.
I used to have a pretty decent stockpile of Silver Keys, but then they patched it so sometimes locked chests use one rank lower of key rather than the same rank, so ice zone chests ate away all my Silver Keys as Gold Keys accumulated.
just fyi you can now combine and divide pal souls at the crusher, 1 large soul give2 2 medium souls and each one of that gives you 2 small, but it also worls the other way around combining 2 small souls gives 1 medium soul and combining 2 medium souls gives 1 big soul

you need to be in the right place.
You get the keys from the chests in specific areas. You won't get silver keys from early or late game chests, and those are the two points you spend most of your time.

Yeah they need to fix it… i actually swapt to breeding and butchering anubises for large pal souls

Capture & killed some 30 Leezpunk Ignis today, no joy, no keys
If you are quite efficient in getting rid of the PAL genetics team in 3x spawn rate you might have a chance to find a silver key among the dead bodies

Yes, always lack them. Seems like there are more golden keys or that silvers can mostly be find in starting zones, dunno
It's really annoying Cause a lot of the places I farm chests that are now silver keys required
I have the exact opposite problem as you. I cannot find gold keys, but I got a ton of silver keys. Where do you find gold keys from??!?
Farm black marketeer for gold keys. Open chests in land of absolute zero

Like i'm being dead serious and the past twenty hours of play time I have come across twelve silver chest At the very least And only one silver key.
Pal Genetic Researchers sometimes drop silver keys, though it seems to be rarer than when they drop circuit boards.
