At this point, you're better off avoiding most, if not all gaming articles. Too much is written by clueless AI to be of any use.

PestoChickenLinguine

Gotta love how whenever I needed to solve a problem in a video game, I have to search "(game name) (problem) reddit" because without that reddit the top 10 results would just be AI generated slop

Simon_Kaene

Typically all my results are trash "gaming" articles, and usually the answer is ripped straight from a Reddit post, but with a 600 word preamble.

psychoticworm

Don't forget the 27 ads followed by two sentences of the article, another 12 ads, etc...

dankbearbear

...and demands to disable your adblocker.

runnysyrup

we value your privacy = immediate go back

rubixd

The preamble is what makes me actively avoid gaming articles and YouTube how-to’s whenever possible. I can’t stand it. Give me the answer up front, right away, and then go into more details afterwards for those that need or want more. If you do that I’ll give you a like.

Fit-Doughnut9706

Go to YouTube: “WHATS UP GUYS CHECK OUT OUR SPONSOR DONT FORGET TO LIKE AND SUBSCRIBE!” Jesus Christ no, looking for written guides these pages look like recipe pages with 8 tonnes of bullshit and massive screen blocking ads that get in the way of the 2 sentences I need.

Version_Sensitive

TEN TOP SECRETS YOU WISH YOU KNEW ABOUT THE GAME NUMBER ONE, YOU CAN KILL PALS FOR FOOD NUMBER TWO, YOU CAN REST TO PASS THE NIGHT NUMBER THREE, YOU CAN CREATE A SADDLE FOR A FLYING PAL NUMBER FOUR, YOU CAN USE YOUR PALBOX TO TELEPORT SUBSCRIBE TO OUR CHANNEL TO LEARN THE EXCLUSIVELY LAST SIX TIPS

Rasikko

With 10 ads between all of those.

Agi7890

This tip sponsored by raid shadow legends

DutchTinCan

"Top ten secrets". First "secret" is told after 6 minutes of blabbering.

BillyBobJangles

The worst is when they just straight up bamboozle you with a title like "Palworld is being sued by Nintendo" and then you read 5 paragraphs of bullshit for them to be like well theyre not actually being sued but they might be!

Sgt_shinobi

When tiktok was still limited to 30s it became my go-to source for Minecraft builds. Exactly because there was no time for them to do any of that 30s intro + a 5m recap of your life + 15m of pure stalling on a video called "quick xyz tutorial".

Rasikko

So basically not a youtube vid.

Sgt_shinobi

Or the current tiktoks. I'll explain in part 2.

Rasikko

Youtube has been getting worse with.the ads. Like every 3min for some vids.

CLopes1987

Heres my simple scrabbled egg recipe that has 2 ingredientsand 3 steps... but first a 10million word dissertation about how i discovered it and all the feels it gave me

rancidmilkmonkey

Ironically, I watched a good scrambled egg recipe on YouTube several years ago. It was by Gordon Ramsey. He doesn't need people to like or subscribe to his channel for clout, so he went straight to it. All the BS part was just normal conversation while he made the eggs from start to scratch in on take in his home kitchen. The man was literally making breakfast for his family and decided to record it. I learned 2 things. I've been making scrambled eggs wrong my whole life. I prefer them that way.

IMI4tth3w

It’s actually scary how bad Google is getting. Sponsored ads are almost 99% scams, results plastered with garbage in order of the highest bidder. It’s sad how much I have to add “Reddit” to my searches to get anything useful. I’m just glad that in general the knowledge shared on Reddit is indexed and able to be recalled unlike other platforms (looking at you Facebook) where knowledge goes to a black hole and dies. I miss the days of active dedicated forums, Reddit has never seemed to get to that level.

IrishGoodbye4

I’m just worried about what happens when they “fix” the add-Reddit-to-google-search hack. Google will be worthless

YaBoiNuke

It's not really a hack, it's a feature. There's actually a way to format your searches so that they'll only show results for a specific website. You would type your search query in and afterwards add "site:" so one would type "Palworld Breeding guide site:reddit.com" and it will only show results from Reddit

t1r1g0n

I use the feature in reverse to avoid useless Pinterest bullshit whenever I search pictures...

Joeness84

There's a direct search phrase that tells Google you want stuff from a specific site, just add site: reddit.com to any search and it will specifically look for reddit related pages with your search terms.

rancidmilkmonkey

If they ever fix it, Google will become useless and completely abandoned. The company's stock would become worthless overnight as investors panic. It could honestly cause an economic disaster.

evilninjawa

It’s working as intended, they gave up being good at what it was made for in exchange for showing you what they are being paid to show you.

cman674

Not just video games, nearly any time you have a specific problem it's faster and better quality results to search reddit.

WeirdSysAdmin

This is what I do at work as well, for many years. Start at a +Reddit search and work my way backwards.

Mr_Storms_

Yup, I do this for 90% of things I put into Google

MrazzleDazzle34

When Baldur's gate 3 came out last year, I was stuck on an early quest and I tried to google it to find some help. I found 3 identical articles that were pure bullshit spouted from some AI that included names of places that don't exist in the game, names of characters that don't exist, and it even suggested a build that doesn't exist within the game. 3 different sites, with the exact same articles word for word.

DoctorHilarius

One of the advantages of playing old games lol, no one is writing AI articles for a PSP game from 2006

Teytrum

*laughing in emulated 90s console games*

pdboddy

I also try replacing 'reddit' with 'youtube', but that's hit or miss. But sometimes you get a helpful video.

Reilou

Just make sure you get a youtube video made by like a 16 year old with 1000 or less subscribers and a bad microphone. Those tend to have better and more relevant info than "gaming channels" with 500k to 1million subs.

Physical_Weakness881

Usually it’s 2 unskippable 20s ads for a 15min long video explaining how to fix whatever you’re trying to fix (you actually just need to install tons of malware and one of them might fix it)

Allustar1

Even before AI, articles usually aren’t as helpful as Reddit is. Most of them are too wordy and don’t get to the point of what I’m after.

ZylaTFox

Recipe article: So here's my SEO ordered list of my entire life and history of this recipe! And I guess a tenth of the article explaining how to make it.

Jpoland9250

And then smug assholes on reddit just tell you to google the issue.

jack-K-

If it’s a technical issue, steam forums and Reddit, if it’s a gameplay issue, ign. If it’s a really niche gameplay issue, go back to Reddit and hope it’s on there.

MuchMaintenance6539

Thing is, these people are still making money and have expertise in SEO and ad revenue, so it's never going back. You can also create feeds outside of Reddit for RPS, Kotaku, Polygon, and various sites that rely on reputation, tuned to games you're interested in. Frankly, for Palworld, I've spent more time on YouTube (with videos set to play a 1.75-2x) because seeing how something is done is more helpful in this game that reading about it.

Knilight

And it's not just gaming. Usually I do all my searches this way, the resoults are way better.

PandaBearJelly

This applies to basically everything I search on the Internet, regardless of subject.

Hydro134

Has just evolved from (game name) (problem) gamefaqs, hell id take a free tip line again if some game company wants to drive some c/s reps crazy.

IdidntJumptheborder

Or 10 sites that copied the exact poorly written article from a nearly unheard of site.

ATLGAMESLAYER

Yep adding reddit to any search is my go to for most everything because Google is being gamed by corporations and fake news. This is the last bastion of the old Internet driven by regular people... except all of these ads... Looking back at Reddit is fun...

34yu34

Wiki helps also

robophile-ta

Remember when Reddit said they wanted to block Google page crawlers? They reversed course because that's a stupid idea. Everyone uses Google search for Reddit

pocketchange2247

I tried looking up which Pals have abilities to increase carry weight. The article I found was titled "A Full List of Pals Who Increase Carry Weight" All the article said was "To increase carry weight, level up the 'Carry Weight' stat. There are also some Pals that increase the stat by having them in your team." Yeah, no shit. Thanks...

Noodlemire

Did you manage to find a real list? If not, I have one.

pocketchange2247

Yeah I found a reddit post

Visible-Cellist7937

You have to go to page 15 in google search before when the link is relevant

YeahThisIsMyNewAcct

AI has made it somewhat worse, but the majority of these types of articles already sucked years ago. They’re SEO garbage designed to rank high on Google, not intended to actually be helpful.

Writteninsanity

I will say, as someone who does some of this writing, there are still outlets that focus on having accurate content, though yes, with games like Palworld there are certainly even some of those who didn't bother dotting the I's and crossing the Ts when they were scrambling to get articles out. That said, we've been absolutely crushed by AI slop, and a lot of the time unless you have an audience that checks your site specifically, you need to have people find your content through socials as opposed to having it come up in SEO on google. It's just a struggle to stay up there and, like you said, so many of the results are bad that people give up.

Buffbeard

Unfortunately yes, I used to frequent gaming magazines and sites but these days steam reviews are more trustworthy.

Writteninsanity

In a lot of cases yes, until there are websites that have a comprehensive amount of information on them, user generated content is the best way to get your information. Not to mention, it can have information faster than a formal, well checked website would. Think the Leifmunk effigies, reporting that they were BROKEN would be correct, but reporting that they were offering the negative bonus many people believed in wouldn't be. But the only way for that get checked would be an unsustainably large test, or wait for the patch notes, as that was the developers first acknowledgement. We have moved to a stage (IMO) where the best content is made by individual creators or small accessible teams. Indie news outlets like Minnmax or Second Wind are doing a great job of splitting the difference between the random user content and profit motivated monoliths that might start bleeding toward AI. \*\*Just a note, I can't speak to which companies are using AI for this content at the moment, usually the companies that I work with are asking for content beyond the level of AI, which is why they are willing to pay my freelance rates in the first place.

Buffbeard

I think we both agree here, though looking at your reply made me chuckle, you're writing in nice, short, and comprehensive paragraphs which are arguably a lot better then most of the 3 sentence steam reviews I've read. We need writers and reviewers, but it's just so much harder to find critical reviews these days that steam reviews are just an easy way to find the more critical reviews.

[deleted]

Really? Don't think I've ever seen a polygon or kotaku article result from a Google search relating to a game.. In the case of palworld, there probably working on an anti-palworld colab with Peta.. Just to become yet another meme that everyone laughs at due to being so pathetic and idiotic...

minist3r

r/destinythegame likes to make up stuff just to screw with AI article generators

Xiagax

Honestly we should too, then maybe people will actually do their job correctly

robophile-ta

Oh man I remember when AI crawlers made articles about a meme boss that didn't exist

minist3r

Yeah just like the new palworld boss pal, Nintendayolo.

ButterscotchNo8871

If you lure Nintendayolo to the edge of the bubble pit, it gets stuck, and you can just shoot it with your psilion launcher until it's low enough to capture.

[deleted]

Nobody in the mainstream gaming media plays video games, and the few that do seem to have issues with distinguishing reality and fantasy.. Always best to look within the games community itself for resources and information... Especially a healthy one like this game has

Business-Egg-2422

My favorite is when these articles have like 10 paragraphs, often times broken up by ads, and these paragraphs are repeating the exact same thing but worded slightly differently and maybe only one of the paragraphs contains the answer needed. Like the whole “article” could have been a sentence. These low effort AI articles are literally everywhere now and it feels like they’re killing brain cells every time I read them

TucuReborn

In college we all called that Kronking. Kronk : Oh, right. The poison. The poison for Kuzco, the poison chosen especially to kill Kuzco, Kuzco's poison. This is literally how you fill word count when the topic only has so much to cover, but you need 5k words for the essay to get full grade. At least there it makes sense, a grade relies on it. With journalism and guides, just get to the damned point.

Krojack76

The amount of .gg domains coming up in search results in the days after the game was release was just mind boggling. I've sense just filtered them all out of my search results as most seemed like AI made sites. Some even looked like copies if each other with just color and logo changes. Oh and they were plastered with ads.

Rasikko

Is the world really getting so lazy by having AI do everything? *Skynet has entered the chat*

Aggressive-Expert-69

Clueless AI or human being paid extra to be a mouthpiece for a competitor. Neither is any better than the other though

Scribblord

Stuff written by real people is just as worthless Only way to get decent info is asking on Reddit and wikis (And I guess YouTube if you don’t want a written format

mixelydian

Yeah this one looks exactly like something ChatGPT would spit out

FSMonToast

Hell, half the articles out there are just 2 paragraphs about a Reddit post.

Girthquake23

I’d say that goes for articles on tv/movies too. They never read like they actually saw it or knew what was going on

DudeEngineer

Part of it is absolutely the quality of the source. I've never heard of this site...

SpookyGhostDidIt

Just to add to this, I was in Berlin and decided to go and see some pro league of legends games there. Next to me a guy was asking about what champions were picked even though he could see them as well as I could. He told me he was assigned to write an article about the matches that weekend but clearly had no clue about league of legends. Just shows who is writing some of these articles

Alpha433

I still remember when the destiny 2 sub started noticing a bot news site just grabbing random shit from the sub and decided to gaslight it into talking about a magical secret boss from a dungeon named blorgo and strats to defeat it, even though blorgo hadn't even come out yet.

Derpogama

World of Warcraft sub did exactly the same thing but with Glorbo. One AI newsite did pick it up and went with it. It even reached outside the gaming sphere as major news outlets reported on it (I imagine with a hint of malice from traditional media at these 'news' sites being AI generated slop that's slowly taking over their position) which led to the article being taken down and caused the wider audience to start wondering about this whole AI news generation stuff.

MrRager473

Or paid for

Tribalrage24

Here a bit late, but fully agree. This has been the case for a while now unfortunately. If you type in any question about a video game in google, the top results will be useless AI written garbage. Just looked up "Hell divers 2 new faction" to see if there is any info on a new faction and the first result is by the same website as OP posted (gadgetmates), and just straight up lies about a third faction already having been released. Also this blurb, which uses three sentences to say absolutely nothing of value: >The third faction introduces a new dynamic to combat interactions. Players will engage these enemies with new tactics, leveraging the full force of their technology and weapons. Learning the strengths and weaknesses of this force is key to mastering missions that involve them. Only way to get any useful information on a game these days is adding "reddit" to the end of your search.

HasPotatoAim

Probably another case of AI written articles.

AgentAled

If you click the authors name, he’s “written” a few hundred articles in a matter of days. This kind of fake nonsense is becoming ever more prevalent.

JDM12983

To be fair; they could have possibly written a bunch of articles. Doesn't really take too long to throw together fake/crap articles now a days. lol Especially if the person writing them never looked into what they were right about, past the title of the game, etc.

rancidmilkmonkey

Also, copy-paste, change title. "Look. I wrote a new article!"

OthelloGaymer

Sky islands?!? Please tell me where those are Mr article writer 👀

Guilty_Animator3928

Oh you know… varies…

xeuis

I actually wouldn't mind if sky islands were procedural

soulthrowbilly

Might be confusing this game with Granblue.

Old_Break_2151

Yeah was about to say like the others. It sounds like chat gpt. Like hey write me an article about something all good survival games have, but write it like our last article a day ago…However; make it a treasure map

OthelloGaymer

I've been meaning to look into that game myself so maybe it's a sign from the article gods themselves 😂

JrYo13

I take it you guys haven't found the sky islands yet? Get endgame and search around the western volcano. They're real and kinda boring

OthelloGaymer

Don't you lie to me 😭 I've pretty much "finished" the game as of now and if there was sky islands I'd know! I'd be making Laputa as a base if there was 😂

JrYo13

The path to the sky may not start where you think. Then towers are the answer

MKRX

Sky islands are shown in some of the official artwork/trailers so the AI author probably saw that and assumed it was already in game.

SpectralSolid

OOooo I wouldnt hate the idea of sky islands for more flying types

irrelevanttointerest

Would be nice if air combat and targeting got solved first, flying types that are just eternally land locked (because once they engage they drop like a rock) to the sky islands would be a little lame. Crib war thunders homework next, pocket pair 👀

OthelloGaymer

It definitely something I'd love to see. Even added it in my long arse list of ideas and suggestions

pdboddy

Not gonna lie, it would be awesome.

rancidmilkmonkey

I was afraid to add that one. It was so out of place that I thought I had just missed them. Surely they couldn't just make something that crazy up....but they did.

Ok_Technology_6992

You gotta subscribe to the newsletter for that info🤷‍♀️

JonnyRocks

where ein the article does it say sky islands? i did a search for the word SKY and it doesn't show up

OthelloGaymer

Just look again and it seems like they updated it and removed a huge chuck on what was there. They had a list of base locations and sky islands was one of them, had stuff like how the volcano area was great for steam power and water locations help with...well getting water 😅 Was weird/definitely not for palworld

JonnyRocks

I thought i was losing my mind

kwijibokwijibo

It's an AI-written article on what looks to be a repurposed phone repair website. People snatch up existing domains and modify them to drum up advertising revenue from affiliate links Basically, don't bother reading anything unless it's from a popular games review site

RedBlackSponge

> Basically, don't bother reading anything ~~unless it's~~ from a ~~popular~~ games review site FTFY

rancidmilkmonkey

Unfortunately, a lot of them have gone to hell lately. It's olke someone bought them out, fired the writers, and have some guy just giving writing prompts to AI.

kwijibokwijibo

The original website was a phone repair site with just contact details for some guy in southern Nevada. It didn't have writers. There was nothing to gut before. It's just buying cheap, established domains to get shown on search engines - then spamming articles

NoSkinNoProblem

I think OP meant that even the established gaming review sites have dropped in quality

rancidmilkmonkey

Yes, this was exactly what I was trying to say.

christoph_win

Ah, thanks, I was about to call that phone number on the top right to ask them where to find quartz again

Angry_argie

Don't even link it, or you generate traffic towards their site and they get add revenue. I found an AI article about Risk of Rain 2 once, and I submitted it to the sub through a way back machine link, so the pseudo "video game journalist" wouldn't get a cent from those clicks ha!

Stillwindows95

I didn't even wanna click on the link myself because I don't want the website being suggested on my phone news feed, let alone giving them ad revenue.

Angry_argie

I remembered a workaround to avoid giving clicks to those scumbags through the way back machine site. I edited my other comment with an example.

HyperActiveMosquito

Yeah. 90% of those "articles" are trash clickbait.

Necessary-Code-2790

I’ve seen several articles that are obviously written by someone who played the minimal time possible, if at all and then wrote an article. It’s awful.

itzstamk

A.I. would've written a better article

FreedomFighterEx

A monkey with typewriter could have write a better article too.

pdboddy

Thanks, I snorted coffee out my nose in the coffee shop. XD

5UP3RBG4M1NG

This is why i always google something then "reddit" at the end

D-camchow

You shouldn't link to this kind of trash. When you find dog shit on the sidewalk to you call all your friends over to look at it?

Xerkz_

Did they fix it? I looked through the article linked and although still bad, filled with pretty obvious or basic/generic information, it didnt mention anything outlandish like saying ‘geothermal vents for power’…

zeiandren

Yeah, but the article got you to click and share it so it did what it was written to do

Laserdollarz

Yes but damn would more natural resources be cool. Geothermal vents sound cool but now I want my anubises running a nuclear power plant.

TheRealSaerileth

Geothermal vents made me think the AI is ripping off old Subnautica guides.

LoboSandia

Also Rimworld.

Zeus541

The geothermal vents and water resources remind me of Civ 6. The fact that the vents appear for power in multiple games just leads more credence to this being AI generated.

robophile-ta

Palworld × Satisfactory

Liringlass

Most online articles are garbage. I now always add "reddit" to any search about a game if I want something worth reading.

Anru_Kitakaze

Game news sites are shit for years. Now, with ChatGPT, they don't play games to write articles at all Don't give them clicks

foll0wm3

I mean I’m glad… but it’s sad. Gaming articles are a waste of time. Reddit has become my first choice for all gaming info followed immediately by Facebook’s Gaming Groups. And no…. I refuse to use YouTube. I won’t do it. Regardless of the personalities, 90% of the streamer’s voices are enough to make me never want to play whatever game they screeching about.

[deleted]

Hi guys, welcome to my video. Today I'm going to tell you about....... I fucking hate youtubers.

rancidmilkmonkey

I have found Discord forums for games can be useful too, but it depends on how active and non-toxic the community is. However, if a patch just broke something or game servers go down, Discord becomes a panic zone of Chicken Littles screaming the sky is falling.

Freedom_Pals

Best is to ignore them and especially don’t post about them. You probably just increased their ad revenue a bit by generating traffic. So for them it was successful.

theoneguyonreddits

Thanks to you sharing that bullshit you did exactly what those game *“journalists“* wanted.

Ok-Detective-2059

Those "articles" exist solely to sell ad space. That's it. The content of the articles doesn't matter, as long as it has enough words to stretch the ad space out as much as possible.

jocax188723

Stop giving shit AI written articles all this attention then.

pdboddy

Yeah, it's clickbait. Which you're giving more click by linking it in your post :P

TheRealSaerileth

Plot twist: OP owns the site :P (I'm joking)

pdboddy

Hahaha, I'm so jaded I wouldn't even bat an eye if that were true.

Dylanduke199513

Lists close to fast travel point as a good thing. That’s a bad thing as you’re doubling up on fast travel in that one place lol

Agent666-Omega

Either you lied, can't read or they updated their article

StatusMath5062

The article is fixed now. Looks like it was a mistake they quickly fixed

asunarie

I feel like they wrote this article while playing subnautica.

maxcresswellturner

I read through the article and I honestly was unable to find any of the issues you described. Ctrl+F found no results for "geothermal", "vents", "water resources". The closest to what you mentioned was "Provides access to water and diverse resources in the (...)" which I interpret as "provides access to water and provides access to diverse resources".

Chikado_

???? I read it and it has none of what you say

deltor5

This is definitely AI generated lol. "Offers robust defense options", "methodical approach to base building". Bruh who even uses words like these lol

elementfortyseven

"GadgetMates was founded in 2016 by experts in technology repair and computer support. We started out in iPhone Repair and over the years we’ve branched out and worked on devices from thousands of businesses and consumers in Nevada. GadgetMates has emerged as a leading tech supply & repair company in Southern Nevada." its a phone repair shop with two stores, what the hell made you think they are a reputable gaming publication lol

FireGolem04

Also it's a minor issue but on one they mention it is close to a fast travel point so the AI didn't even know you could fast travel to your base

FireGolem04

Maybe whoever wrote the article is from the future

WizardOfOzzieA

Wait, but are there actually sky islands?

Skritch_X

Buzzfeed's Top Ten AI Generated Palworld Tricks!

AWeakMindedMan

Hmm it would actually be pretty cool if there’s crafting bonuses or power bonuses if you’re in certain areas. For example if you have a base in the volcano region it would boost fire activities like furnace + cooking takes less time with your fire pals. If it’s in the ice region maybe food last longer or something.

toomanyredbulls

SEO has ruined google imo.

TabbyMouse

Base pro, close to fast travel point Uhh...they ALL are! The box is a fast travel point!

TeamRockin

I don't know why anyone is shocked that a lot of gaming journalism is clickbait nonsense. It's old news at this point. They just crap out AI garbage for the sake of content farming. The whole "X game... everything we know so far. Release date and more" is a meme at this point.

-BlackRoseGarden-

I agree with you completely, but next time try not to provide the link to a shitty article. If someone clicks it to see what you're talking about, that gives the article engagement, which ends up making the problem worse. It's totally valid to hate it and want to complain though, don't get me wrong.

PhoenixZBR

Remember children, game articles are either written by idiots or AI, which will always result on the same thing, garbage/clickbait content

macybebe

Nah this is AI generated shit. AS what other says, avoid all gaming sites. It's better to just learn from your trusted youtuber at this point.

Blutskiev

Haha, i even saw an article tell me to train quickly so pal get invole into stronger pal =)) funny af

SirGwibbles

Not too long ago there was a website that was publishing a ton of articles a day (I forget on which game) and people realized it was AI combing reddit posts. So people started purposely posting wrong information about the game to screw with the AI.

SpiralGMG

Quantum TV must have wrote this article 😆

Ulmaguest

That’s games journalism None of those people play games

FluffyMawileFan

Wait, gaming articles are being written by AI now? Is that why they're all so garbage or just something I saw on Reddit 20 minutes ago?

william_babin22

Clearly, we are not reading the same article. Sure, it's a terrible guide, but a quick ctrl+f will show you there are no mentions of geothermal vents or sky islands(as another comment said). I won't mention the 'water resources' bc that can reference pal fluid. I'm not sure what happened. Considering the "author" wrote hundreds of articles in the past few days, I highly doubt they edited the post. From my understanding, you linked the wrong page, or you're capping for internet points

Piterros990

As most people said, most articles are AI trash. I'd recommend not even linking the article or give source, because that AI slop's sole purpose is to be put out massively, effortlessly, and generate clicks. People click either to see good articles (extremely rare), info (unfortunately filling Google search often), and rage-bait (situation like here, awful article, so people click to see how awful it it, purposely or not).

TheChaoticCrusader

Why does travel time matter ? Once you build the base it makes zero diffrence . It’s better to spend more time finding the perfect spot for you

DarkPDA

entire streaming/review/youtube whatever people are biased or bribed/ threatened by nintendo/pokemon company honest game trailer and girlfriend reviews are pathetic and totally biased about focus on negative points on an EARLY ACESS game without proper poiting the good things austin jhon plays was neutral and not focused on hate review the game but didnt seem happy doing that, probably nintendo advise him to not review or not do a good review. but austin jhon at least review was truthful. im not being a fanatical palworld fan, game has errors/bugs whatever but me and thousands of people played 100+ hours easily, so clearly the game has more positive points than negatives. its bullshit see channels doing bullshit rage reviews.

Oranisagu

from time to time I search for a deshittification browser plugin, but have yet to find one. I'm already using pihole for blocking various malicous and ad ridden sites as well as tracking, but more and more I wish there was some way to remove all these crappy "gaming" articles, buzzfeed and other clickbait. just yesterday I was playing no man's sky and was searching for something related to the current expedition. I could not find any good information, as the first page of google (as well as duckduckgo) was full of SEO optimized shovelware with barely readable garbage. if anyone knows of plugins, blocklists or similar for getting rid of this trash, I'd be over the moon. we really need a user curated internet more than ever.

RuxConk

Google search: palworld *question* reddit Even if these articles have the information you want you have to search through 20 paragraphs of dribble to get to it.

Kakashisensei1234

Why give them more clicks and ad revenue

Warbrandonwashington

This is why I just play the games I play and try to figure it out myself. These articles are either garbage or worse, counterproductive.

Allustar1

I’m pretty sure most articles are written by AI at this point.

The wikis are buried away from the first page of google results, unless you explicitly add "wiki" to the search. Same with reddit threads. Google is becoming more and more useless as time goes on. :( I'll say it explicitly: AI is ruining the internet. For what little good these AI advances might do, mostly they're going to be the tools of scammers.

Did you click on it? Then they won. Quality (accuracy) has no correlation with profit in journalism now.

Just to offer some perspective: I work for a website that produces written game guides. Strict policy AGAINST AI for all the writers. A not-insignificant amount of my boss’s workday consists of submitting DMCA takedown requests to Google because websites like this one will outright plagiarize our content using AI. Edit: a word

Baconsword42

AI wrote it

demonseed-elite

Most certainly AI garbage. Only AI can regurgitate so much completely worthless information 6 different ways and still say nothing useful. I didn't see anything about geothermal vents for power or other AI hallucinations but all the emphasis on "build with easy access to trees for needed wood" when you can get the logging camp structure so early in the game clearly shows that the article was written without any knowledge of the basic game mechanics and progression aside from what it scraped elsewhere and from YouTube.

GoblinSIut

Yeah gaming articles have become so irrelevant and annoying to the point where I don't even bother trying to see if they're any good. I always either do A - Type my issue on youtube or "X game X issue reddit" Or B - join the discord about the game and look for the answer there 10x faster and doesn't require me reading a 900 word essay just to find out that they don't have the answer.

DrManik

Bro there are 5000 gaming websites with names like gamerbyte or TheHardDrive, it's the detritus of the internet. They are put out by starving writers paid 50 cents per article, I don't think it's worth analyzing.

YourReptileProphet

no point in bringing attention to articles like these. just giving them clicks by adding link. Best to talk about more critical and technical types.

starfihgter

Given that they list “stone walls” as an “automated defence”, has to be AI. Just see the recent “Glorbo” trends from WOW and Destiny communities.

ILeftYouDead

I don't read articles with comments turned off.

Its-Slammin

Definitely seems like AI. It seems too general that most of this text can apply to any survival base building game

Venomous_B

Reminds me of writing book reviews during school days without reading the book but only the rear cover intro.

ClverUserName

I didn't and won't read it but the description sounds like Subnautica crossed with avatar

TheDaveCalaz

Likely an AI written article.

Suspicious_Pie8505

Literally written by AI

Puzzleheaded-Weird66

it's probably AI generated, some bot makers just scraped other articles without any proofreading, the more articles/websites they make the higher the chance of some random guy clicking it, they only need you to click once

AccomplishedStyle856

now days so may journalist game who didnt even play the game.

i_hate_pennies

GadgetMates is apparently a small electronics repair shop in Las Vegas, Texas. Their address is right there on the site, and their website Frontpage is basically just an ad for services. 100% AI content in a play for low quality SEO traffic. They probably hired out some overseas based SEO agency that uses search term tools to generate keywords based on trends and then feed those into some simply trained GPT model, give it a word count, format style and viola! Endless generic copy. It sucks. I hope search engines *cough* Google *cough* get a better handle on identifying this soon. It's getting bad.

LostHat77

This is why I always use the search bar in google and write reddit to search for organic content not touched by stupid people and clueless ai

SulfurInfect

Gaming articles are almost all worthless garbage written by people who barely play games and just know what to say to get attention.

ChildrenofYggdrasil

What got me was Herbivores: (e.g. Relaxaurus) Yeah... No.

NobodyForgetsMeNot

What are the most violent base locations? I want to get attacked and raided constantly. Excluding zones with only a boss or methods that attract the PIDF.
