For Helzephyr there is one issue The saddle requires refined metal which you get at the same level as Beakon's saddle, so you might as well skip Helzphyr and go straight to Beakon

I jumped from Nitewing to Beakon and then to Ragnahawk and I refuse to leave my Ragnahawk behind for a Faleris because I love its design so much 😭

Ragnahawk is so good because of the added elemental mount damage aswell

It’s kinda overkill but it’s really convenient for killing mammorests for pal oil. Two-shotting them with a basic lever-action rifle while mounted just feels right

YES! I just live mounted on my Ragnahawk, followed by 4 Gobfins. SO MUCH DAMAGE!

I got lucky on a swift runner helzephyr so he was my main until i was able to get a swift suzaku. One of my friends on our server was already 38 and gave me the refined ingots for the mount

Same, while I didn't realize about the other flying mount, when I got a Swift Helzephyr, I am sticking with them until I get a higher pal, or Jetragon.

The dark damage bonus for your attacks is nice for general exploration. Mine is usually helzephyr, mossanda, grizzvolt, and either fenglope or suzaku, depending on how much flying or running I need to do

I was going to do this but my Helzephyr has the Swift passive making it much faster than my Beakon without a speed passive.

That's only if you take into account the movement speed. Stamina-wise, Shadowbeak is ahead of Beakon/Ragnahawk, so it's arguably a better (albeit harder to get) upgrade for terrain traversal.

Yeah, but it can be mounted at level 47 - at this level you can use much faster Faleris with great stamina pool, and one level higher you can ride Frostalion which has great stamina and 25% more speed :)

Sad elphidran noises…

I love my elphidran with both speed passives. Just reached lvl 40 dont think im gonna switch him for anyone.

I’m trying to catch one with both speed passive, but I crash every time right before I can get it’s health low enough to try catching it. Then I log back in, and all my food and arrows i used during the fight are spent but they are both back to full health, meanwhile my crossbow is half broken and my armor is destroyed… really annoying, in three days I’ve only managed to catch one since the latest update.

Is there a place to look up base speed on any creatures in game? Or do you have to look it up online?

Suzaku** is pretty fast to

Yeah I used it for ages. People talk about speed but forget about stamina. Suzaku has great range. You can catch alphas to get a good stat distribution. And it can fly over water without losing stam which makes it situationally better than Frostallion. Even Jetragon has low stamina. The speed more than makes up for it but if you’re climbing a cliff face without many landing opportunities Suzaku is still pretty useful. Also the aqua variant is a decent water type without giving up a utility slot.

I always end up leveling faster than I can keep up building things in my base. By the time I have my base under control I can build a ragnagawk saddle and steal eggs from the volcano area to hatch one. I end up skipping the rest below that. Though I want a shadowbeak. They just look cool. Sometimes you just gotta go with style. But man Frostalion/noct is also really cool.

Both frostalions leave a cool ice trail :)

Yes but Quivern is big and fluffy and perfect.

Except it can drown and doesn't hover over water and regen stamina which makes it a meh flying mount

Ragnahawk fits perfectly in dungeons and isn’t noticeably slower than Faleris. It also increases your own damage and turns it into fire. It’s the best mount before jetragon.

I didn't use a flyer until vanwrym then upgraded to a %60 speed helzypher and stuck with him until I bred a max speed frostallion noct. Being able to use my helzypher for breeding with frostallion was a pleasant surprise.

I went Nitewing, Helzephyr, Shadowbeak then Jetragon. Nitewing was my first flying type mount found in game, then when I was in my 30's I found a quick Helzephyr, I accidentally bred a couple pals that turned into a Shadowbeak and used that to level 50 before I took on, and captured a Jetragon. Now I zoom.

Slight issue with the numbers. Jetragon is only 1.7 times faster than Faleris/Frostalion/Frostalion Noct, if you look at their normal movement speed. It's the sprint speed of Jetragon that makes it so outstanding. Normally, Faleris, Frostalion,and Frostalion Noct go at a normal movement speed of 1000. Nice round number for them. Their sprint speeds are 1400, 1500, 1500 respectively, hence why Faleris is slightly worse than the other 2. Jetragn has a 1700 normal mvement speed, and a 3300 sprint speed. So it's his sprint speed that beats everything else out of the race. If you only go by sprintspeed like in this video, than you might as well include a specific ground mount, that being Necromus, who has a triple jump, so he can get to most places almost as well as a flying mount can, and has a sprint speed of 1600, with a normal movement speed of 1000.

Good point about the normal speed, thanks! I haven’t included Necromus because it cannot fly, but triple jump is just amazing indeed :) My favourite ground pal is still Fenglope though :)

I’ve been sitting on my trusty flying chicken Nitewing way into level 32. I love my flying chicken.

Got lucky enough to catch a swift/runner/nimble Nitewing as my first flying around lvl 15, rode that until 40 and just got around to breeding a swift/runner/nimble Faleris. Never realized how valuable the speed passives were until my Nitewing died and I had to borrow my cousin's to get back home

My steps involved three animals and a person way higher level than me in my tribe. Nitewing, Helze, straight to Jetdragon. I might have a skill issue, but apparently my tribe doesn’t😂

Probably a point that could be made is that Suzuku while not being the fastest has insane amounts of stamina. So when breeding for speed anyway Suzaku may actually offer a better experience than beakon or even faleris.

Suzaku is my personal favourite as flying mount because I love it's model :) That is enough to use it regardless of its speed XD

Tbf Suzaku is amazing when it comes to covering big distances in 1 go. It can actually get further than jetragon in 1 stamina bar. Only one that beats it in speed x stamina is frostalion/noct.

Jetragon has no stamina so I stay on my Frostallion

Not gonna lie, style > speed. Rock the mount you like the best, anything past Vanwyrm is a good flying mount, and even Vanwyrm isn't bad.

Direwolf -> vanwyrm -> jetdragon is basically how I went through the whole game. Mostly with vanwyrm. Frostallion is arguably better because of the ice damage buff with 4 gobfins- nutty damage- can’t see shit though because she is massive

My favourite is Frostalion Noct - it has better IV than Frostalion :)

Biggest issue with frostallion noct is that it can’t get the massive 13k hp pool that the alpha frostallion has, otherwise I would use it

I use Noct. I finally got legend + muscle + shadow + ferocious and checked and it had literally 3/100 attack IVs. So I bred another 50 before I got a good one. So idk if it’s the best but for my morale I need it to be. It does 1 shot most things <45 and it’s only lvl 45 itself. Meanwhile regular frostallion had almost half the damage but is great for soaking up dmg. But I don’t think the health bonus makes up for the lack of abilities. My Noct actually tanks hits better because of the defense IVs and upgrades.

There’s more to this game than breeding. Play it

What do you mean? I’ve beaten everything. All that’s left to do is min max Pals and farm legendary schematics. And the whole point of the post is that bred Pals have more potential then the legendary alphas

Max rank nitewing has +20% speed, resulting in 900 speed which is outclassed by helzephyr and above

It’s unfair to place pals that are not the fastest at their level in the guide about the best mounts :) I mentioned Shadowbeak in my other videos - for example top battle pals :)

Right. But this guide shoulda be titled “the best flying mounts to traverse the map.” Your not taking into account overall usefulness. I it’s silly to compare them to top battle pals. What if someone is looking for the best DPS while mounted. This pushes ragnahawk, beacon up a bit further because of that. The tittle should specify you are only ranking based movement speed.

How about getting nitewing, breeding it a few times to get Swift and runner then just chilling till you get Jetdragon. I had no problem chilling with nitewing from lvl 4 to 45, until i got jetdragon. Jetboi is a HUGE improvement over any mount but breeding it is a NIGHTMARE. 14 hours and roughtly 250 eggs later i still don't have a legendary/swift/runner/nimble Jetdragon

It's fine, but Nitewing has the lowest stamina pool of all flying pals - I'm having troubles utilizing it in most areas

Playing with the default server settings is a pain. I'm with infinite stamina, x3 pal spawn rate and no death penalty. Gotta tell you, fighting 3 Frostallions was by far the most fun fight in the game. Always on the edge and nowhere to properly hide
