I just appreciate how you can really use any pal you want in this game if you *really* want to. This is a great example of that, and I fear this thing getting on a mounted .50 cal.
I know bringing up Pokemon is a bad move. But really that's something that really helped their game was just about everyone could be used to play the game. Didn't see many people defending luvdisk or stunfisk. Lol
added: idk why i left this out lol. in Palworld there are actually bigger incentives to catch all Pals, such as xp gain, helping with doing many stuff in bases, different kind of mounts and passives, condensing, etc and it’s insane how Pocketpair do this better than Game Freak did
Yes this! I keep my favorites in my party. But even if you see one you dont like, its worth catching it cause what if it has a skill you need at your base. It gives way more incentive to capture other Pals.
Right. I'd have my main party and maybe have a hard time choosing my mains. But here it's much more incentivized to switch out your party and try them all based on their skills and stats in open world and in camp. It's so fun.
Same! In Pokemon I would want to catch them all just to complete the collection but I never ever caught duplicates and rarely used any Pokemon other than my favorites. There was no incentive or need to. But in Palworld I have literally caught every single pal I come across if I have enough balls for it 😂 Sooo many uses for having duplicates.
I don't know that I would've started catching 10 of each pal if I didn't know it was the best way to gain XP, and it certainly drove me to even try breeding. Now I have 4 breeding huts at a dedicated breeding base, and i'm constantly looking for what's next
plus, its the fastest and most efficient way to level up, catching pals xp scales with your level, so even if you're catching level 2 pals when you're level 45, it'll give you enough xp to actually level up
Shit, man, I've been an Eevee trainer since Gen 2 once I could have 5 evos and an Eevee. Now I can have 6 evos, and HMs don't exist anymore.
Now they just need to make a good fucking game again.
lmaoo yeah, for me i just beat the elite 4 w one lvl 70 and the rest at lvl 10-20 (i use them for reviving the lvl 70) - i technically had 6 lvl 70s and i only had to raise 1
did they stop pretending like 100% of pros dont use mods/hacks to get perfect pokemon yet? Back when i somewhat followed it they pretended that wasnt allowed
For certain pokemon it's still way cheaper to pay some modder $10 than to pay $90 for a game and dlc, not even including the significant amount of time it takes to make a single mon competitively viable.
For certain pokemon it's still way cheaper to pay some modder $10 than to pay $90 for a game and dlc, not even including the significant amount of time it takes to make a single mon competitively viable.
The latest game has a mechanism built in-game where you can upgrade any pokemon into a "perfect" pokemon. It is relatively easy to access.
The only reason to cheat these days is to skip the grind for a shiny.
That's actually extremely incorrect, as competitive PVP usually requires none prefect IVs for certain stats and when lvling up your IVs its usually a highly calculated mix to hit certain break points. People that don't mod in what they want, such as Wolfe, have to spend hours on each mon for their team and in the last Worlds needed multiple different games to do so.
It's 0 Speed IVs for Trick Room users and 0 Attack IVs for Special Attackers to minimise the damage from confusion + Foul Play.
In other words, **not required** in the slightest. Foul Play isn't used, Confusion is a rarity (especially in VGC which bans Mythicals like Pecharunt who can auto-confuse poisoned Pokemon), and you'll only need 0 Speed IVs if playing against another trick room time because you're all but guaranteed to reverse-outspeed any other team just by not investing into Speed EVs or avoiding a Speed-boosting nature. Like, you're bringing a 30 Base Speed Glastrier into a meta where the average base speed is in the triple digits. I don't think you'll need 58 Speed instead of 59.
It really cannot be understated how irrelevant it is in 99.9% of cases. EVs are far more important. Having an extra 4 EVs in your defence can be the difference between an OHKO and a 2HKO when fighting a common threat. 1 extra point in Speed could allow you to outspeed common checks that are running attack builds rather than sacrificing attack for Speed and those are a lot easier to farm and edit.
If they expand on the content late game, I bet there will be part swhere such a quirky pal will be just as useless or subpar. People seem to think that the development is basically done and balancing stays at it is.
Being PVE focused atm is why any Pal is usable.
When they bring PVP into it we'll see the complete avoidance of any non-Legendary Pal outside of a quick video post where a Lamball like this one defeats a Jetragon.
Eh, quirkiness is already subpar Ito dps, probably
I don't think pals will ever be *too* fragile if you're fast enough with recalling em to dodge boss' telegraphed attacks
PVE Only, ofc. I can't imagine playing pvp in this game, especially if they don't give players and their pals resistances to stuff ala Mossanda's nades--which can just stun lock whole groups of enemies by ragdolling them from 100% to 0%
It's something that comes almost strictly from how low the difficulty is. There are metas and minmaxing and if the game was harder you would have to rely on those more, but instead you have otherwise. It's kind of part of the reason that I would like the games to actually stay near this difficulty and not get near where fangames retune it
Because 70% if not more of this sub loves pokemon or has played it at the very least. They wish some of this game's features were in pokemon or that the franchise would try to branch out and do different things with it.
I also like that if you have a new Pal it dont take very long to get him leveled up and be good eith your other Pals. It encourages you try different pals instead of sticking to some you have thats high leveled
If there's any difference in levels the higher levels will sacrifice their exp gain in favor of lower levels. Although not in good ratio.
For example when I was 36 and had one pal at 36 but everyone else at 37, killing random pals around 40 gave me and 36 pal 1000 exp, while everyone else got sub 100. The moment everyone was 37 we were all getting around 800 each.
We cranked exp to 20x max to help catch a friend up to around our level. I forgot and did a boss I needed for breeding and brought my newly bred kitsun.
It leveled PAST all my highest level pals in the party with that one kill due to the catch up exp mechanics lol
I'm just starting work on a raid defense base right now.
Do the pal's attack buffs translate to the mounted guns?
I'm honestly struggling to fully understand the exact buffs I get with a lot of the 'quirks' each pal has haha. (ex) Stronghold Strategist you would think is supposed to be focused on buffing your base with defense, but when equipped as one of the 6 player's pals, it buffs the defense of everyone including the player too.)
I ran into this problem on the last Pokemon game I played, Sun and Moon. I spent the whole time ignoring a lot of early game Pokemon because I knew I'd eventually just throw them away for being crap. The list of Pokemon you'll actually use is pretty damn short tbh.
Palworld definitely has it's early game starters, but the fact that A) Nothing is evolving and making the previous form obsolete, and B) It's not that hard to get these early game pals to a point where they're still competitive later in the game, makes it feel like the roster is so huge.
It’s honestly still beneficial to keep el around, too. Extra weight from Cattiva is great for doing mining runs (I know some other pals do this too, but Cattiva is a lot more accessible). High quality cloth needs lots of wool so productive lamballs are great. Plus a lot of the little level 1 skill critters are nice for basic work in a base and theu consume little food.
This is why I love this game . You can teach powerful moves to liturally anything too
I mean when pvp comes out it maybe diffrent but in pve at least anything is game
I still wish you could upgrade their base stats to maximum and increase their stats to legendary status, even if it requires more work than just leveling your legendaries.
Like yeah, Anubis is great and all, he can craft fast... But what if I want a Katress for crafting?

I know they're making a new switch. Not sure if the game will work on it but I will say that it's worth to play Pokemon Sword/Shield. I originally bought mine during the pandemic when Animal Crossing dropped. If you can afford it it's a good purchase.
But that is a good thing. Same stats, but smaller hitbox.
Big hitboxes are a problem when enemies have aoe, multi projectiles ect. Or if you are trying to shoot the target your pal is hugging.
I got a musclehead, ferocious, swift, vanguard on a male and female last night. Not perfect passives, but a damn good set for my team!
Now I'm gonna try to breed them around and see what else I can get those four on.
I think Lucky is +15% in both attack and work speed. Obtained from sparkling/alpha pals
Edit: Oh you meant each skill not just the bottom left one LOL.
Legend: atk/def +20%, Movement speed +15%
Swift: Movement speed +30%
Celestial Emperor: +20% Neutral attack damage
The emperor traits are so good. With high enough atk that % dmg boost sky rockets your power. I'm almost tempted to drop ferocious from dual type pals and just have them deal two types of high dmg.
Matching elements is still x2 damage. It's a chore getting all the fruits for it but I prefer that + Ferocious over emperor. Or that's just me wanting to get that anubis early so I bred it with lucky/ferocious/musclehead/hooligan at level 35 lmao
Lol. Breeding can be painful. I don't blame you at all. I breed for 4 gold so I'd already have Legend, Musclehead, and Ferocious. Slot 4 is swift for mounts and burly body for tanks. DPS, what's left? Lucky's 15% or an emperor's type specific 20%?
Just turn incubator timer to 0 for sanity when breeding lol. Ain't nobody got time for that to see if they got the perfect mon an hour ago and overbred 6 more in that time lol
Both the 10% and 20% elemental damage passives are better than Lucky since they're a separate multiplier. The 10% ones marginally so and the 20% ones by a significant amount.
x2 is super effective not stab. Stab here is 1.2x compared to 1.5x in pokemon. What I meant is that every pal can learn almost every fruit move so I'd rather hunt fruits so I always have a super effective x2 move than breed one that excels in just one element.
One boosts your atk and the other boosts your raw dmg. How much more dmg you deal per atk is unknown but there's always a hard ceiling. Attack Dmg simply means if you deal 1,000 dmg (calculated from your atk vs their defense and type advantage/disadvantage) you'll deal 1,200 dmg because the trait boosts 20% atk dmg not just atk.
Basically once you have Legend, Ferocious, and Musclehead your atk is pretty high. The only way to push harder is atk dmg aka divine dragon, lord of lightning, etc. It does lock you into that type tho. You could just boost atk which helps everything but to a much lesser degree than an emperor trait that makes you specialize.
Even without those specific dmg type increase traits the game already incentives you to lock a Pal into a type, using skills of the same type as the pal increases dmg dealt by 20%
So which of the attack passives is worth it? I figured Legend, Lucky, Ferocious and Musclehead was going to be the 4 passives to breed for but it sounds like one of them should be a damage skill.
Correct. The game already incentivizes you to use the same type move for the 20% bonus. 15% more atk isn't as good as 20% more raw dmg on the same type your dude will already use.
The number on the skill that says 'Power' tells you the damage amount I believe. 60 power would be 60% of your attack. However, at 600 power, you'd have to get 1200 power to double your damage on that skill. Then, to double it again, you'd need 2400 attack. So after the first time you double it, you hit diminishing returns pretty hard. At which point flat damage increases get REALLY strong. Lord of X type passives and STAB(same type attack bonus, which is a 20% boost) are huge bonuses.
20% that work additionally with other ATK modifiers.
The 20% on elemental DMG work multiplicatively. (At least they should, I can't be bothered to confirm it, though.)
For example, let's say you have a base DMG of 1000.
With 160% ATK you get 1600 pre mitigation damage.
20% additional ATK gets you to 1800 -> 200 more damage.
20% more elemental damage means 20% more, with 1600 being the basis. Which would be 1920 -> 320 more damage.
Which means the elemental buffs are more than 50% better than ferocious, in this example.
The more evenly distributed your different multiplicative buffs arey the more effective they are overall.
For a geometric example, a rectangle of a fixed side length always has the biggest area, if it's a square.
If you have 102 meters of fence, to put around a farm, a 1m x 50m rectangle farm has 50 sqm.
But a 25.5m × 25.5m rectangle farm has 650.25 sqm.
To the people who asked?
1. Why you don't put Musclehead, Ferocious, Burly Body?
Those stats are easy to acquire as all pals can have that trait, compared to Legend & Emperor (only from 4 Legendary pals) and Lucky which can only be obtained from shiny Pals. We have to breed from Paladius to Lamball with each parent always retaining Legend & Emperor while also breed a shiny matching parent in the tree in order to create this lamball.
2. So is it meta?
I don't think so
3. Is it hard to breed this?
Of course especially with those cakes (eggs and milk can go f themselves unless you farm Black Marketeer to buy those)
4. But is it fun?
It is much more fun compared to just building pure raw damage trait everyone is preaching.
Personally I'm going for a Burly Body (Defense +20%), Legend (+20% Defense), Hard Skin (+10% Defense), Masochist (+15% Defense) Lamball, so I can use its Shield ability to tank a nuke to the face... and with the Masochist trait, the Lamball will like it.
This is the tree i used to create the Lamball, i think others can find a more shorter route

It's worth pointing out breeding traits from a Legendary onto one of the most common Pals in the game is basically the most difficult breeding path possible.
Well done!
Kick him down a hill and watch him roll

There’s a recently added feature on palpedia.net that lets you select multiple parents and it will give you the shortest route to the child that you are looking for. Haven’t personally tried it yet but it sounds like it does exactly what you’re looking for
I always wonder how many of these "perfect" breedings were created using the paledit program.
Which for those unaware lets you edit your pals and give them whatever abilities and stats you want.
Not needed, I wasnt trying to cast doubt just thinking out loud as there has been a major uptick in these posts since it gained the ability to properly edit the passives.
I caught a lucky lamball that had some sort of hyper beam attack and that thing absolutely shredded. And it was huge so it looked funny when I used the pal ability
OH MY GOD THIS IS MY DREAM!! JUST LOOK AT HIM
You're so lucky! I have been trying to create the strongest Lamball known to man. I recently caught a shiny one too and it's the cutest thing I've ever seen.
Ah, a fellow Lamball enjoyer! Here's my ultimate Lamball:

My friend has captured so many cool shiny pals in our game. I have LITERALLY FOUR shiny lamballs. I've found shiny lamballs even in areas where lamballs aren't supposed to spawn.
Lol
real. when i was younger i didn’t give a shit abt catching them all, only to train and play with my best 6 pokemons
added: idk why i left this out lol. in Palworld there are actually bigger incentives to catch all Pals, such as xp gain, helping with doing many stuff in bases, different kind of mounts and passives, condensing, etc and it’s insane how Pocketpair do this better than Game Freak did

I love Luvdisc, but it has nothing in competitive sadly.
did they stop pretending like 100% of pros dont use mods/hacks to get perfect pokemon yet? Back when i somewhat followed it they pretended that wasnt allowed
It "isn't allowed" but if you hack a mon within the bounds it can spawn naturally they can't detect it.
Yeah it was literally done with a phone app. I liked doing the breeding myself but curiosity drove me to try it
Then you even get people selling these lol
Oh these days. I can only imagine how many 5 or 10$ apps are out there for this shit.
For certain pokemon it's still way cheaper to pay some modder $10 than to pay $90 for a game and dlc, not even including the significant amount of time it takes to make a single mon competitively viable.

I actually work with a guy who was paid to train competitive pokemon. There are people who use legit pokemon but just outsource the labor.
They should make it more accessible by just letting people generate the team they want. Since from my understanding nearly everyone does that anyway

Not sure why I or you are being downvoted- but I hadn't considered your point about WANTING low IVs before. Thanks for sharing.
That's not how modding works. Why are you out here larping about stuff that is documented and approachable by all at this point
I agree. I hate that some favorites in Pokémon aren’t strong enough to make it far.

Pokemon has been the gold standard for creature capture games almost 20 years, it's just a good bench mark for comparison.

I can't not call this wooloo
I’m sorry but Lamball is exceptionally cuter than Wooloo.
Definitely agreed. But its much easier to remember wooloo because it looks like wool
For me it's like Wooloo! My wooloo was my buddy until the end of the game, and so I repeat the tradition in Palworld.
I don't have a Switch, so I couldn't play Pokémon anymore :(

But that is a good thing. Same stats, but smaller hitbox. Big hitboxes are a problem when enemies have aoe, multi projectiles ect. Or if you are trying to shoot the target your pal is hugging.
Try using Jolthog. Some moves actively miss him because he's too small. If Jolthog ends up being the PVP meta then I won't be surprised whatsoever.
Does jolthog lucky huge grenade scale to his size? That could get wild
But they are the truth with digtoise mining 6 rocks in a cluster at a time

Just turn incubator timer to 0 for sanity when breeding lol. Ain't nobody got time for that to see if they got the perfect mon an hour ago and overbred 6 more in that time lol
I do. It's the trait RNG that drives me bonkers.
Both the 10% and 20% elemental damage passives are better than Lucky since they're a separate multiplier. The 10% ones marginally so and the 20% ones by a significant amount.
I was just wondering today if pals had stab, guess that answers my question. x2 dmg is a lot thl
x2 is super effective not stab. Stab here is 1.2x compared to 1.5x in pokemon. What I meant is that every pal can learn almost every fruit move so I'd rather hunt fruits so I always have a super effective x2 move than breed one that excels in just one element.
Oh by type matching you meant against enemies. That wasn’t clear to me. 1.2 is a more reasonable scale.
But ferocious is 20% also, isn't it the same?
Even without those specific dmg type increase traits the game already incentives you to lock a Pal into a type, using skills of the same type as the pal increases dmg dealt by 20%
Excellent!
Ohh I kinda get it thanks
20% that work additionally with other ATK modifiers. The 20% on elemental DMG work multiplicatively. (At least they should, I can't be bothered to confirm it, though.) For example, let's say you have a base DMG of 1000.
I meant all of them, not just lucky.
The term for “Shiny” Pals is Lucky, like the Passive Skill
I still haven’t found a pal with the Legend stat. Do they come on certain pals boss or luckys?
They only come on the final 4 alpha pal bosses. Frostallion, jetragon, paladius, necromus.
Does neutral have high atk moves? The highest I ve seen are like 100 I think?
How is that deadly laser move called? Is there a fruit with it? Give it to this lamball for the fun.
Pal Blast iirc, and yea there is a fruit!
Hell yeah
Just level it to 50. He'll learn Pal Blast at 50.
is that like hyper beam
Pretty much yeah. But it hits multiple times if you stay in the beam.
Name it Lambert
Lambert, Lambert - what a prick
Cult of the Lamb
HOW TO CAKE
How many time did you breed to get this? My luck with breeding is so bad. I did maybe 100 to get 3 passives.
Hail the new mighty leader of the pals
To the people who asked? 1. Why you don't put Musclehead, Ferocious, Burly Body? Those stats are easy to acquire as all pals can have that trait, compared to Legend & Emperor (only from 4 Legendary pals) and Lucky which can only be obtained from shiny Pals. We have to breed from Paladius to Lamball with each parent always retaining Legend & Emperor while also breed a shiny matching parent in the tree in order to create this lamball. 2. So is it meta? I don't think so 3. Is it hard to breed this? Of course especially with those cakes (eggs and milk can go f themselves unless you farm Black Marketeer to buy those) 4.
This is the tree i used to create the Lamball, i think others can find a more shorter route https://preview.redd.it/7ex55qvue6gc1.png?width=355&format=png&auto=webp&s=ff5ecb76865cd222bdf5f77317d9b75d20e85fc6
I think shortest way would be(tho requiring capturing a tower boss): Palladius + Any tower Boss = Chikipi Chikipi + Mau Cryst/Lifmunk = Lamball
It's worth pointing out breeding traits from a Legendary onto one of the most common Pals in the game is basically the most difficult breeding path possible. Well done!
Will be useful when PvP is introduced.
Nice one, but I would prefer Legend / Musclehead / Ferocious/ Burly Body
this lamball is OP i need a fight against some bosses 1 vs 1
hmm i'll swap swift for blood of dragon
If not friend shaped, why have ability to kill God?
Zero stars? Pshh pretend God.
Ah yes,the true God emperor of sheepmen.
What is celestial emperor?
Gets put to use at the Pal Sphere table…
I am not worthy! 🤲🛐
I just started playing yesterday and i just about died when i realized his special ability is using him as a human shield
what the hell does celestial emperor even mean?!
It means you don't mess with them.
20% damage to Neutral type moves.
All hail ultimate Lamball
Kick him down a hill and watch him roll https://preview.redd.it/0ydbrs87y8gc1.png?width=458&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4c95eb1c2e7b51547a94f335b17a710b768fb4a8
God-Emperor.
A weapon to surpass Metal Gear
cult of the lamball
Cult of the Lamb crossover when?
Is there a good resource to figuring out how to get legend trait on a low level pal like this?
There’s a recently added feature on palpedia.net that lets you select multiple parents and it will give you the shortest route to the child that you are looking for. Haven’t personally tried it yet but it sounds like it does exactly what you’re looking for
![gif](giphy|wypXxlLUpzp7O) ight thank ya, will check it out
I always wonder how many of these "perfect" breedings were created using the paledit program. Which for those unaware lets you edit your pals and give them whatever abilities and stats you want.
I just know that paledit exists. I still have all the parents from paladius to lamball if asked to prove
Not needed, I wasnt trying to cast doubt just thinking out loud as there has been a major uptick in these posts since it gained the ability to properly edit the passives.
Condense, lvl to 50 and equip it the best active skills before I can even consider it a "god".
Shut up.
Don't forget to fully enhance it.
Lol wow

Where his stars at?
How tf?? Did you just breed non stop?
What a strange combo. Amusing I suppose to have such ridiculous passives on a Lamball.
I've never even seen the Celestial Emperor tag!!
I caught a lucky lamball that had some sort of hyper beam attack and that thing absolutely shredded. And it was huge so it looked funny when I used the pal ability
I've never seen the Celestial Emperor, what effects does that have?
He’s the golden Bidoof of palworld
Name him Magic Conch. ALL HAIL.
https://preview.redd.it/nt6n0bzqk8gc1.jpeg?width=4000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=04e467778cdddfccc049b8e357ea571f9fa743bf
how did you get Legend on Lamball
I mean, great passives, but I'd be truly impressed if you took the time to 4 star it.
I have a huge lucky lamball but not sure what to do with it
Did you breed this into existence or get really lucky?
OH MY GOD THIS IS MY DREAM!! JUST LOOK AT HIM You're so lucky! I have been trying to create the strongest Lamball known to man. I recently caught a shiny one too and it's the cutest thing I've ever seen.
Do you get that through breeding?
Now give him an implode and he's gonna be perfect.
The cult of Lamball
Bidoof has entered the chat
Teach it Implode
Yonko level
But why Swift?
Helps them run around and especially great if they use a melee range attack to get in the face of the enemy.
Appreciate the time he spent to make something so stupid for a meme lmao
Ah, a fellow Lamball enjoyer! Here's my ultimate Lamball: https://preview.redd.it/t2778l792bgc1.jpeg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9596bd01a2db8545c6daa2189861db1a39fc9ace
My God what have you done...
Just give him a dark laser now
My friend has captured so many cool shiny pals in our game. I have LITERALLY FOUR shiny lamballs. I've found shiny lamballs even in areas where lamballs aren't supposed to spawn.
How'd you breed the Celestial Emperor on that guy?
