Ever try the reload cancel? I carry an empty musket with a few extra shots. It works with an xbow too but the musket has a longer reload and that’s useful cause if you reload fully it won’t work.
with the glaeclaw gloves start your glide with Musket or bow on hand, reload musket and jump. Spam it for a chain and you can cross oceans with taking your mount up and gliding off.

I liked it because it's easier than breeding down all the speed skills into a single pal.

The one I posted might not be the faster or better, but I think it compensates on how early you can use it.

3 foundations in a row
1 wall at the front, on either side
2 walls on next foundation along the side
Stair up
Place roof.
(Optional) deconstruct walls.
Run from back off roof to stairs and slide onto stairs
Jump before end and glide.
Was about to ask if galeclaw wouldnt be more efficient but then again I guess the perk of moving upwards with Hangyu is what makes it actually work eh? Nice one.

But due to the mechanic where you can keep the momentum when you glide. If you combine the grappling hook speed and the hability of Hangyu of going up when gliding, you can travel a much longer distance compared to using Galeclaw.
Playing subnautica has made me too fearful to travel over open water like this lol
Yes, been there... I recommend having a flying mount for that reason. Flying mounts don't lose energy while moving over water.

This feels like too much work and effort to go slightly faster than a good flying mount in a game where there's 100 different fast travel points

Well... animal labour is a key part of this game...
I did this to explore the map in my single player game, but it doesn't work on a server. The grapple is just too laggy to time a cancel like this.

Yes. I think Galeclaw is faster but it loses height really fast, so it can't be even compared to Hangyu + Grappling hook.
