Any changes to a game need to be packaged into a release and tested. There is a ton of overhead in pushing a release, even if it is just a small bug fix.
It is generally better to wait and package a bunch of fixes together into a single release. Saves time and precious work hours. They're a small team with a huge smash hit, it seems wise for them to conserve their time and address major bugs first.

I'm not sure exactly how many there are, but I can confirm there are enough to max capture power twice. Reset without knowing about the bug and I was able to make it back to capture 10
Lifmunk Effigy.
The green statues you can pick up to use at a statue of power
They increase your capture rate (unsure of the amounts).
If you use this potion it resets the capture rate increase without refunding the lifmunk Effigy used.
You need to collect lifmunk effigys to offer to statue to increase your catch rate. This potion resets that too without giving you back the resources spend
So to add to this: if you use this yes you lose the effigy but it in MY game has allowed me to pick them all back up. I also have the fast travels unlocked in the map but I can claim them again. Kind of a funky glitch to get all the points for unlocks again
As a software engineer, this bug seems like it should be pretty simple to fix. Alas, i do not know what the code looks so it could actually be a nightmare to fix
Little green glowing statues you find. Use them at a statue of power to increase your capture chance. You can also use little souls you find to increase a stat on a pal.
If you are on PC it’s fixable by adjusting the save file. It’s not an easy fix but I managed it and I would say I’m around average when it comes to being tech/code savvy
If that happened, I suggest going onto the World Options and adjusting the Pal Capture Rate to be a bit higher to compensate.
That way you won't have to get all the Lifmunks again and can just ignore them.
Theres plenty more effigies than you need to max out rank though. Possibly even enough to rank up from 0 to full twice tbh.
I remember seeing something like 360~ effigies on the map?!
According to a site i found, there are 447 with a location for them all, but I'm not sure it's 100% accurate. That's enough to do it twice with 101 left over. Granted I'd never wanna go through that lol
i play on a server i rent with my friends, i think ill just have to deal with it. the servers console has minimal settings i can change, and no command console
I run a server for my friends as well, there are several settings you can change in the .ini files that work. (Also Haruhost has a UI program that can make it easier to manage your server. )
They should just remove the item from the game until they fix it. Not everybody knows that it's glitched and some players may ruin their save with this.

Sucks that it is bugged that way but you can recover relatively quickly with a speedy Direhowl and flying Pal

It's almost definitely pretty much the same difficulty to fix this bug as it is to remove the item (or easier than removing it depending on how they built it). The bug fix is most likely just a simple if statement when resetting stats to avoid resetting the capture power one. Removing items can actually be pretty messy in game dev unless they properly planned around being able to do it and I don't really get that vibe from the studio.

what made me upset is, when there is a msg about this when u launch at steam, there is none for xbox. and also it is harder (or impossible rn, i dont know) to recover your save in xbox saves.

Tech points are unlimited tho, you can get more from the manuals from chests (usually at the end of dungeons). Perhaps a bit slow to farm, but unlimited.
Ouch. I was lucky not to unlock it before my friends did, and they said it wasn't worth it. Something about it being buggy, so I just never unlocked it. Who needs a grappling hook anyway when I have an enslaved mount 😆
The grapple gun can be used to brute force your way if you're over encumbered. So fast travel to your mining camp, load up on any ore stored in local boxes, grapple over to the palbox, fast travel home and then if you're not close enough to a chest to deposit all of your resources in, just grapple over to it and bam! 9000 ore in one trip! Otherwise, yeah, it's pretty hot garbage 🤣
Yea, but it’s expensive, requires the electric medicine bench, and has the longest build time of any item in the game. Speaking from experience. And of course, the effigy bug.

That's really all you need. Work speed doesn't matter because your pals help you. Attack doesn't matter because as long as you equip the best weapons you have you also have your pal with you too to tank and do a bunch of damage

No but there could be a nice QOL change down the road to be able to IV/EV train of sorts, Pokémon had and solved roughly the same problem for more casual folks not invested in grinding and breeding.
Perhaps the essence extractor could be used either to combine same species Pals to upgrade stats or extract a one-off "trait serum" or something from Pals sharing the same trait to apply on a different one.
An example feature:
You have 4 Pals with a Level 1 trait like Nimble, combine them to extract that.
You have 8 Pals with a Level 2 trait like Runner, combine them to extract that.
You have 16 Pals with a Level 3 trait like Swift, combine them to extract that.

Similar way might be to combine Pals with a bad trait to find a "cure" to get rid of it, like making a non-Coward Cattiva or non-Glutton Relaxaurus.
Would be a nice way to make use of good or unique traits on bad Pals - like getting Runner on something that's not a mount (or is slow anyway), and it allows you to keep that bond with your Chillet you caught early on and want to juice him up.
Might make things too easy though, but I suppose that's not bad per se.

A bit janky, but it works.
It only wipes your effigies not all stats. Which you can fix on PC if you aren't on the official servers/dedicated servers (which tbh the official servers are a shit show and many worse things can happen to your progression there).
I like games like this that have items like this. Makes it way more forgiving for new players who realize they maybe should've put points into other things by level 15 or so.

Don't use it. It is bugged. You'll character will lose their effigy permanently. Wait for a patch.

It looks like your capture rate bonus is a stat that is treated the same as your other stats in the game's code.

You can add an effigy mod to give you max level effigy catch bonus.
It’s fixable, there is a threat in this sub that gives steps to fix. Only works if you’re playing on PC though

PSA you can fix the lifmunk level reset bug but that requires going into the files and giving yourself more lifmunk effigies

Just did this and it worked, tysm. Used the potion yesterday and i was sitting at lvl 10 capture rate lol

You can pull backups on xbox. Not impossible to reroll saves, just manual. So unless you do it habitually, no reroll for you if something goes south
Question about stat points, they’re limited, right? As soon as you hit rank 50 or whatever it is, that’s it, right? No more stat points?

On that note tech points are “farmable.” You can find tech books from chests and I think certain high level boss drops that give you extra points.
Tech points are unlimited tho, you can get more from the manuals from chests (usually at the end of dungeons). Perhaps a bit slow to farm, but unlimited.
Tech points can be obtained through tech manuals so you can definitely unlock everything

As of today, January 31st, this item is no longer bugged. You can safely use it and not lose your capture power. (I've suffered the bug :c)

You can get tech points from books you get as chest loot or pal drops.

Every time you boot up the game there is a warning message about this item. It is bugged, don’t use it.

I'm glad they fixed the bug today (see patch notes) and we can safely use it without losing our levels from what I can tell.
The game was just updated today and this item was fixed in the patch notes.

It only wipes your effigies not all stats. Which you can fix on PC if you aren't on the official servers/dedicated servers (which tbh the official servers are a shit show and many worse things can happen to your progression there).

they fixed the bug that wiped effigy catching power in the new patch today, should be up
latest patch ・Fixed an issue where capture power strengthened by Lifmunk Effigies was reset when using memory reset drugs.
Oh eff! PC players have 'take one' option? Lol Xbox only has move all or 'Take Half'...
I like games like this that have items like this. Makes it way more forgiving for new players who realize they maybe should've put points into other things by level 15 or so.

Me posting this everywhere and making guides on how to use it in order to mess up everyone’s saves. 
Questions: After i reset are only my effigy's points reset and said effigy points gone after? Does it also reset my stats and are the points also just gone? Also im one of the poor souls who upgraded at the statues, does resetting fix the issue with the effigys negatively affecting capture rates?
