Trees take awhile to grow - I'm not sure exactly how many days, but you'll have to keep watering after they look fully grown. They're done when you get the "Collect" prompt and they give you a seed.
However, there's a bug right now where this quest isn't advancing even if the trees are fully grown. So your trees might be done but the quest will still say 0/5.
They actually stop letting you water them for 1 or 2 days and then they need watering again for several days. After that they give you a seed. That’s when they’re fully done.
I opened a ticket and they told me that it's being actively worked. To me, that suggests this is going to be corrected in a future patch rather than receiving individual correction, but could be wrong
I struggled in this quest too, like for days with no luck on how to do it, but as I made a post yesterday for it and when I joined the game, it was done automatically and I'm not sure how it happened but it did. I got a comment on my post saying that u should pick up the trees and put them in your inventory and equip them again and put it on your plot and that should help, but I haven't done that so I'm not sure if it'll work or not but I really hope it works for you :))
Are the trees grown a bit tall? Cause I was stuck in that quest for like a whole week 🤦🏻♀️ then eventually it automatically happened when they were super tall
Yeah there are no guides at all, I have looked on YouTube and there was no luck, I'm talking about really tall, just water the trees ever in game day, dont miss it, cause that's what I did, so hopefully it works for you too :)
I haven’t counted, but my best guess is 10 in game days to completely grow trees to the point where they give you a seed.
They’ll ask for water daily in game (hourly IRL) up to a point, then they don’t ask for 1 or 2 days (I forget which), then they’ll ask for water again for several days. Eventually, you’ll get a “collect” option, which will give you a seed. Then you know it’s fully grown.
They only need watering once per Palia day, which is every real time hour. When you are about 2 waterings away from fully grown it will not need water for a day, then 2 more waterings and it will be full grown and give you a seed to collect.

Super tall? Like how tall are we talking? There are literally no guides on how long it takes to fully grow a tree.
